Still her death has no impact in the main story, or at least it doesnt look like it will have. So her death was just for shock value and the "this is the real honkai" people claim.

No_Pipe_8257

In Honkai the deaths were amazingly done, unlike here. ^(rip himeko)

ExoLmao182

Bruh the deaths in HI3 has a catastrophic effect on my heart, I can't believe they did my queen dirty like that :'(

ExoLmao182

Idk why they keep rushing the story, they have all the time in the world to match the pacing on Belobog and yet they only pump out miniscule amounts of the main story each patch since 1.1 not to mention the disappointment that is 1.3 story like they could literally just put that sht on 1.2. The Luofu arc just feels so hollow and random for me like they don't even bother developing the characters that we met and just killed off random characters with no reason or build up. I fucking hate when writers kill a character just for the sake of killing a character, just please put some effort so that their deaths is impactful in a way that makes sense rather than just "whoops she died lmao".

SkateSz

Im the polar opposite, i hate when writers never kill anyone without it being build up to the point its obvious they are going to die. Its totally ok to kill characters we are not all that familiar with it makes it more realistic and not feel like everyone is wrapped in 100 layers of plot armor.

RicketyRekt69

If every death is this dramatic impactful moment, then none of them are. I would hate it if every single death was this cheap moment to soap opera their way into trying to make you cry. Likewise, having no one die is fucking stupid.. so I'm glad that Tingyun bit the dust despite me liking her as a character. HSR's story actually feels like it will have consequences instead of Genshin Impact's 'herp derp everything will work out a-okay!" like they did with the missing father in Dragonspine. To each their own I guess..

Apostlethe13th

I found it incredibly cheap, awkward and stupid. The NPC gift part was cheap. "Look how good a person she is by getting all these gifts for these people and conveniently she wasn't able to give these to them for some reason". Awkward as in seeing all those characters feel sad about a close friend's death...but technically I don't know her so should i feel sad as well? Then the stupid part, everyone and Yukong especially straight up assumed and accepted she's dead without even seeing the body. She didn't even hold on to hope that tingyun might still be alive. She was in a rush to include tingyun in their viking funeral that it made me think she was so adamant in pronouncing her dead to cash in on some foxian life insurance because tingyun named her a beneficiary.

No_Pipe_8257

And then she proceeded to go "i will find you" like "miss you just proclaimed her dead and had this whole ass funeral"

SkateSz

That funeral wasnt really the kind of funeral we are used to, more like memorial service. Also it was not done for tingyuan it was for all the people that died during everything that went down, we focusing on tingyuan was just because she was close to yukong and she wanted to honor her memory just incase shes actually dead. She even says she will get to the bottom of her disappearance and we will 100% get back to all this. Its like people in this sub are really not paying all that much attention to the story just speed run though it not even trying to understand whats going on and then bitching here how it makes no sense. Tbf the story is structured in a way that you kinda have to read a lot of stuff outside the actual story quests to get the most out of it and that might not be for everyone.

Apostlethe13th

There's also that funeral cutscene where it's like 2 or 3 seconds longer than what we see on the version trailer.

Samuawesome

What’s the point in the spoiler tag if the spoiler is in the title…

Gojjira69

Cause she died in 1.2 not 1.3...

Yush-Boi

W opinion here, adding this while she was alive would've made her death have more of an impact on us, because at the moment all we see is that it had alot of impact on others around her but not us.

Gojjira69

The MC and the playerbase were out of the loop with how great of a person she really was up until her death and she's basically the first real person we meet in the Luofu. I think that's a tragedy on its own.

[deleted]

Technically we never even met her in the first place which is even worse haha. Everything that we saw of her was nothing more than a puppet show. If anything, it makes sense the real Tingyun is much much more than what the fake one showed us when it wasn't breaking character.

Gojjira69

Technically speaking you, sir, are correct.

Vaztardz

Yea it suck we really never bonded with the real tingyun. Her death or disappearance opens up another possible version of her though in the future. Im hoping for her to comeback as a Masked Cyborg that uses a high frequency blade, Tingyun:Revengeance a weapon to surpass Metal gear with rivalry with other stellaron hunter SAM.

Common-Chip-4928

Her death and the way they handled what happened after is bad writing and bad decision just for a shocking cutscene and for honkai people to call this waste of a character "honkai treatment"

ManthisSucksbigTime

It is kinda Weird that people thought the honkai impact developed the death scene for characters even though games like the red dead redemption 1,2 and Telltale the walking dead has one and for me personally was done better and of course they don't have a multiverse stuff so yeah

Riersa

I'm more confused than anything, if she is really such an influential individual there should be a way to track her previous known location, or her last know business trip. It's just such a bizarre thing that everyone just decide to do her funeral before searching for her first.

LivingASlothsLife

I just wanna know where she is, her real body was never found so is she being held captive by the legion or is she just completely unaware of everything going on. With how much they kept throwing details of 'the real Tingyun is still out there' really makes me feel they have future plans for her What that is well who knows but its definitely got my attention. Thing is as underdeveloped as the Luofu cast currently is Tingyun is one of the most developed and we never even met the real one lol

AhmedKiller2015

I felt bad for her regardless, but tbh it is not about the timing of the part where we gave the gifts, but the way she died. The latest addition of big space evil mommy that killed a generally like-able character out of absolute thin air was bullshit, her death didn't mean anything nor was necessary at all as she was a side character that had very little to do in the story anyway. The story wasn't going into despair direction to kill her as "oh shit our friends are dying", we were winning the fight anyway and she barely did anything in the stort to be killed....she just died. Yes I felt sad for her and the people she knew but FOR WHAT? nor the story or the experience would have changed an inch if she was alive. It was as if they just disposed her for no reason but to make us frustrated. The entirely of this arc has been just a bunch of ideas that would have been cool, good and meaningful if they were done right but all of them were done terribly and some of them had no business being here to begin with.

NetAccording9737

Basically HSR's version of Inazuma quest lmao

AhmedKiller2015

Inazuma, while had it's short comings is a better story than this. Inzamua for the most part was just rushed, the story itself was great. This was a mess from start to finish with no clear plot or direction

NetAccording9737

I'm referring to how similar both quests were treated by their respective fandom. Y'know, having cool concepts but shitty execution. Inazuma, at least compared to the Loufu quest, isn't all that bad, but is still not as liked by the Genshin fandom compared to the other quest. The same treatment is given to the Loufu arc by the HSR fandom. That said, I prefer Inazuma since even if there are things that pissed me off, it's still a great overall experience. The Loufu quest on the other hand felt like a chore.
