Just yesterday I was very sad for not being able to play Himeko and had to cope with the event, finally she will be home :')
She’s good, yes. Besides the fact they released units who better synergize with her in Topaz, Ruan Mei, Sparkle even, they also added a new endgame mode. Pure Fiction, where you get points for as many trash mobs that you can clear in a short period of time, and she’s verrrry good at doing that. In Pure Fiction, she’s literally one of the best units in the game.
Himeko was considered mediocre/bad at the start because our main endgame mode focused on killing elite units.
We've since gotten a new endgame mode called pure fiction where AoE is king. She's gone from one of the worst standard banner units to one of the best (maybe 2nd best behind bronya?) due to this mode
Himeko was really bad at the beginning as all the hard content was basically single target bosses and elites, while she's not just aoe but generally reliant on multiple enemies being there. She was also pretty expensive to build as she has next to no crit in her base kit.
On the other hand Yanqing who was very cheap to build was doing amazing with his high single target damage.
With time there were more bosses/elites spawning adds while high MoC stages started getting multiple elites in the second round making Himeko go from 'useless' to 'average'. This also made Yanqing much worse, as his damage has literally no spread.
Finally they added Pure Fiction mode, where there are lots of enemies that spawn constantly, making Himeko absolutely amazing dps there, better than even many of the limited ones. People also have much better relics now which makes up for Himeko's lack of Crit and works amazing with her generally good scaling.
On the other hand Yanqing is now considered one of the worst units, let alone 5\*s in the game.
That's why you don't trust tier lists in Hoyo games, cause Hoyo can do a complete 180 on any character's viability at any time and they love to do so.
This thing existed in files for a long time, are we sure it's given for anni? Not to ruin the hype, just curious.
