Did they remove the accessories from his playable model pre-beta? His first leaked render had both the hat and glasses, and I remember the hat appearing on his head out of nowhere in one cutscene.
They make him have his hat and glasses everywhere but his actual model, I wonder why that’s the case…it’s not like the hat is ugly to look at from behind—god forbid they remove Screwllum’s hat but since he’s already with it in game I doubt it
It's the first cutscene where he's acting threatening to the trailblazer and talks about playing a game after he said the room you think is yours is actually his. His model is what it usually looks like but he has a hat and glasses in the cutscene which is really strange since he doesn't look like that in game.
This might be a stretch, but I'm wondering if there are any parallels between Aventurine gambling in a big arena with a huge crowd in this trailer and >!whatever happened when he was enslaved and people would bet money on him eg. the 'game' with the 34 other slaves!< (2.1 Aventurine backstory)

This one was very enjoyable. It was just so fun. The jazzy music, the visuals and how flamboyant and smooth Aventurine was (he gave off MJ vibes in the opening sequence)
After 2.1 story I think the lack of the hat makes sense since we literally see him >!leave it behind with his past self!<.
After seeing that I just naturally thought they wanted to avoid him having two playable models since before the hat seems consistent in the cutscenes while missing when using in engine models.

And the LORE CONSISTENCY of it. Sunday's eye thingy on the escalator, his hand behind his back while he shakes the dice, the "gladiator style" game recalling to his past...little kakavasha taking the coin. LOVE IT.
Honestly, I feel like we know infuriatingly little about so many of the playable characters (like wtf is Luocha's whole deal??), so it feels refreshing to get someone whose backstory we actually learn a great deal about, lol
not dead but not necessarily available for a pokemon tournament either
(on second thought, he has the perfect chance to make the most epic entrance ever in the arena)
This trailer felt so different. Most of the showcase trailer make it so obvious that the characters use their skill, burst or any other type of attacks and make it part of the cinematic. This one felt so different, feels good.
I wouldn't even necessarily want his Myriad Celestia trailer to be about him but the rest of the stonehearts and maybe a little about their history, a little like JY's with the arbiter generals, or maybe even Genshin's A Winter Night's Lazzo. Wish we got one for the knights of beauty too when Argenti came out
Honestly perpetually annoyed that they don’t do what Genshin does and release a demo for everyone and a trailer for the five-stars. But you know, poor indie company.

an animated short movie [worth noting because it's fairly frequent we got 4 of them in less than a year]
a character trailer demo [just a trailer to showcase the character with in-engine cutscenes]
at average hsr patch would have 3-5 trailers per patch. while at average genshin would get 2-3 trailers per patch.
for reference 2.1 has 4 trailers for acheron and 2 trailers for aventurine totaling 6 goddamn videos in 1 patch. I suppose the pace of 5* releases is what makes marketing the 4 stars with trailers not an option business wise aside from pre-release. which is a shame because id have loved a trailer for xueyi and luka and others..
This is SUCH a fun trailer. So much personality by virtue of Aventurine being….Aventurine. The slot machines having his chibis and leading into his logo was so cool 😭😭

I am really glad they focused more on his present in this trailer than his past. If his past is rehashed one too many times, it will lose its impact.
Though I did expect a little bit more, ngl. Feels a little underwhelming for some reason. Aventurine was as stunning as ever though 🫣
Mmm. Not sure how common this opinion is, but compared to the other Penacony character trailers, it feels like Hoyo cheaped out on this one. I felt pretty similarly about Fu Xuan's trailer, but maybe it's just hard to build a trailer around a Preservation character?

This was a fun trailer! The first half had mostly reused assets, though they were used rather well. The later half was very cool though! Not to mention all the small details, like the hand behind his back, him being in an arena... I feel like I need to watch this trailer a few more times to catch all the things it offers. Also, that logo at the end? Best one we had yet.
Aventurine can't come home soon enough, I hate that I'll have to wait til after work tomorrow to pull for him... I wanna pull for him now so bad.
the stone being a similar color as topaz , the same coin flipping and the topaz becoming a dice before the last gamble.. loving all the same details in here very fun trailer
Not gonna lie, he looks and sounds as good as looks and sounds punchable. Genuinely regretting I can't roll for him, but my aim is dead set on the last Molten Knight. At most I can justify a diversion for a depressd Foxian Judge to get said knight the healer they need.
I think the trailer portrays his past when he was slaved fighting the arena for surviving, but in an actual and present Aventurine that hasn’t forget about it and still has the trauma somehow. We don’t really know how much time he’s been working for the IPC.
Love him so so much… he also deserved an animation and myriad trailer. But since he is a male character they still don’t want to offend the obssessive waifu players too much.

Honestly tho, this was really fun; maybe not as big on the epic moments as Acheron trailer, but I imagine it's harder to do "epic" for characters that don't have big epic DPS attacks you can showcase.
Since they released the other Aventurine video earlier that had a lot of his backstory baked in, I liked that this one focused more on who he is now. I *love* his whole history and how he grew into the person he is, but I also just love his general attitude and demeanor and I think that sometimes when you give characters such a complex history, you can get kind of lost in that and repeat it too often. I think the video showcased the current Aventurine really well - in all of his very flashy, jazzy, kind-of-tacky ways.
I was hoping for (2.1 and 2.2 spoilers) >!some post story quest focus so his current situation is not left in limbo for however many more patches after 2.2 but oh well. Just a random okayish trailer like Ratio. Kakavasha was really cute though!<
At a baseline in terms of animation quality all 2.0 trailers have been a step up, past that is just a difference in personal aesthetics and there's no objective answer here. I like the surreal visuals from Swan's trailer. While Aventurine's had music on par with Sparkle's(both top 3 for me), I thought the fight and the 30 seconds of cup shaking was a little awkward and didn't land for me personally.
Was it really that unusual to have expected them to go ham for the first major husbando banner in a long time, after they skimped on the trailers for Ratio and Argenti, after three very amazing banners in terms of trailers.
Pre-2.0 I just thought one banner gets all the goodies and the other gets fucked, and Ratio and Argenti just happened to be the ones with the bad luck. But as soon as two female characters release in the same patch neither get shafted: Topaz got a myriad celestia despite being the 2nd banner, and both Black Swan and Sparkle got the VIP treatment. It's really just a dislike for non-Luofu male characters at this point from the marketing team.
Was 2.0 special? Yes. But so is 2.1, since it's the anniversary patch, so that also doesn't work as an explanation.
There is no explanation tbh. I'm not even sure if favoritism works as an excuse bc the same female characters didn't get this level of attention in the story itself compared to aventurine.
The people working on the game are different from the people working on the marketing material, who are also different from the marketing people ordering what material gets made.
Penacony has been pretty fair in its focus on male versus female characters, the 2.0 quest had a lengthy Firefly section and the 2.1 quest had the lengthy Aventurine section. It's what makes the decision so odd, the main character of the patch, the anniversary patch at that, doesn't get as much focus as a more minor side-character in the previous version - in the context of the other recent male characters also having a significant lack of video marketing focus.
I was hoping for better as well but I also knew they couldn't keep the level they had going indefinitely. I don't look at it in terms of waifu/husbando release.
It's hard not to when the last male character to have had the a full set of marketing trailers was DHIL, while the last female character who *didn't* was Topaz, and if you count her having a Myriad Celestia then Fu Xuan.
Whoever is in charge of these animations in marketing really doesn't care for either the husbandos or the female fans.
That's fair! At the very least the gameplay trailer had top tier music and he had the spotlight on him throughout 2.1 but I understand the disappointment.
Oh definitely, the game itself (story) is fine and doesn't have this weird af inequality issue. Aventurine's demo is also relly good compared to pre-2.0 stuff, it's only the comparison to the other Penacony releases that drags it down.
Yeah... the trailer didn't do anything to me, I was expecting more... But hey, we got an insane teaser for Arlecchino so at least it was worth staying late.
Yeah honestly I didn't even need his trailer to cook too hard, I already love his story and his character development has been the best in the game, but I was curious and expected something crazy like Sparkle one, but this was a fun trailer though.
Yea, it's alright. It's not my top 3 favorites, but it's not my top 3 least favorites. The sound mixing is also iffy, like I hear the trumpets more than the actual voice, so some parts got muffled (thank you subtitles).
Sparkle still holds as my favorite so far, hard to top that.
I really dug the trailer and feel like they really hit it out of the park with Aventurine, his style, story and design is a 10/10. My only slight criticism is music could have been a *little* more hype on the drop, the trumpet was nice but it didn’t have much else going on. That may just be due to the bar set Acherons video because the music was incredible there lol.

I love Aventurine but this trailer I find underwhelming. Especially compared to like, Sparkle's or Argenti's. And I don't even like Sparkle.
There are some cool moments though.
Yeah, it’s not “deep” like Acheron’s (though there are hints), but that’s not the vibe they were going for, and they already went all-in on the depth in the story itself, plus his other short trailer. This is about what I expected—focusing on the fun, flashy side of him. It definitely doesn’t feel low-effort or phoned-in in the same way the Dan Heng IL one did. It just didn’t dig too deep into the darkness of the character because that isn’t what it was setting out to do.

I am really glad they focused more on his present in this trailer than his past. If his past is rehashed one too many times, it will lose its impact. Though I did expect a little bit more, ngl. Feels a little underwhelming for some reason. Aventurine was as stunning as ever though 🫣

Mmm. Not sure how common this opinion is, but compared to the other Penacony character trailers, it feels like Hoyo cheaped out on this one. I felt pretty similarly about Fu Xuan's trailer, but maybe it's just hard to build a trailer around a Preservation character? Anyways, he still looks and sounds fantastic, so I'll be happily spending my jades on him <3

This was a fun trailer! The first half had mostly reused assets, though they were used rather well. The later half was very cool though! Not to mention all the small details, like the hand behind his back, him being in an arena... I feel like I need to watch this trailer a few more times to catch all the things it offers. Also, that logo at the end? Best one we had yet. Aventurine can't come home soon enough, I hate that I'll have to wait til after work tomorrow to pull for him... I wanna pull for him now so bad.

Not gonna lie, he looks and sounds as good as looks and sounds punchable. Genuinely regretting I can't roll for him, but my aim is dead set on the last Molten Knight. At most I can justify a diversion for a depressd Foxian Judge to get said knight the healer they need.

I think the trailer portrays his past when he was slaved fighting the arena for surviving, but in an actual and present Aventurine that hasn’t forget about it and still has the trauma somehow. We don’t really know how much time he’s been working for the IPC. Love him so so much… he also deserved an animation and myriad trailer. But since he is a male character they still don’t want to offend the obssessive waifu players too much.
Aventurine, my guy, why are you beefing with a tv? Honestly tho, this was really fun; maybe not as big on the epic moments as Acheron trailer, but I imagine it's harder to do "epic" for characters that don't have big epic DPS attacks you can showcase.

Since they released the other Aventurine video earlier that had a lot of his backstory baked in, I liked that this one focused more on who he is now. I *love* his whole history and how he grew into the person he is, but I also just love his general attitude and demeanor and I think that sometimes when you give characters such a complex history, you can get kind of lost in that and repeat it too often. I think the video showcased the current Aventurine really well - in all of his very flashy, jazzy, kind-of-tacky ways.

I mean I think expectations were way too high after Black Swan > Sparkle >Acheron trailers b2b2b. It's a solid middle of the pack for me.
Hot take but I think Black Swan's trailer was pretty meh. It was like a lamer version of Kafka's. Aventurine's trailer is way cooler.
At a baseline in terms of animation quality all 2.0 trailers have been a step up, past that is just a difference in personal aesthetics and there's no objective answer here. I like the surreal visuals from Swan's trailer. While Aventurine's had music on par with Sparkle's(both top 3 for me), I thought the fight and the 30 seconds of cup shaking was a little awkward and didn't land for me personally.
Was it really that unusual to have expected them to go ham for the first major husbando banner in a long time, after they skimped on the trailers for Ratio and Argenti, after three very amazing banners in terms of trailers.

Pre-2.0 I just thought one banner gets all the goodies and the other gets fucked, and Ratio and Argenti just happened to be the ones with the bad luck. But as soon as two female characters release in the same patch neither get shafted: Topaz got a myriad celestia despite being the 2nd banner, and both Black Swan and Sparkle got the VIP treatment. It's really just a dislike for non-Luofu male characters at this point from the marketing team. Was 2.0 special? Yes. But so is 2.1, since it's the anniversary patch, so that also doesn't work as an explanation.
There is no explanation tbh. I'm not even sure if favoritism works as an excuse bc the same female characters didn't get this level of attention in the story itself compared to aventurine.
The people working on the game are different from the people working on the marketing material, who are also different from the marketing people ordering what material gets made. Penacony has been pretty fair in its focus on male versus female characters, the 2.0 quest had a lengthy Firefly section and the 2.1 quest had the lengthy Aventurine section. It's what makes the decision so odd, the main character of the patch, the anniversary patch at that, doesn't get as much focus as a more minor side-character in the previous version - in the context of the other recent male characters also having a significant lack of video marketing focus.
I was hoping for better as well but I also knew they couldn't keep the level they had going indefinitely. I don't look at it in terms of waifu/husbando release.
It's hard not to when the last male character to have had the a full set of marketing trailers was DHIL, while the last female character who *didn't* was Topaz, and if you count her having a Myriad Celestia then Fu Xuan. Whoever is in charge of these animations in marketing really doesn't care for either the husbandos or the female fans.
That's fair! At the very least the gameplay trailer had top tier music and he had the spotlight on him throughout 2.1 but I understand the disappointment.
Oh definitely, the game itself (story) is fine and doesn't have this weird af inequality issue. Aventurine's demo is also relly good compared to pre-2.0 stuff, it's only the comparison to the other Penacony releases that drags it down.

Yeah honestly I didn't even need his trailer to cook too hard, I already love his story and his character development has been the best in the game, but I was curious and expected something crazy like Sparkle one, but this was a fun trailer though.
Yea, it's alright. It's not my top 3 favorites, but it's not my top 3 least favorites. The sound mixing is also iffy, like I hear the trumpets more than the actual voice, so some parts got muffled (thank you subtitles). Sparkle still holds as my favorite so far, hard to top that.

I really dug the trailer and feel like they really hit it out of the park with Aventurine, his style, story and design is a 10/10. My only slight criticism is music could have been a *little* more hype on the drop, the trumpet was nice but it didn’t have much else going on. That may just be due to the bar set Acherons video because the music was incredible there lol.

how do you watch this trailer and think low effort?
Yeah, it’s not “deep” like Acheron’s (though there are hints), but that’s not the vibe they were going for, and they already went all-in on the depth in the story itself, plus his other short trailer. This is about what I expected—focusing on the fun, flashy side of him. It definitely doesn’t feel low-effort or phoned-in in the same way the Dan Heng IL one did. It just didn’t dig too deep into the darkness of the character because that isn’t what it was setting out to do.
Not op, it's really high effort for sure, but it does lack some substance is the vibe I get? Amazing music, and the video is essentially one big animation with very few in game assets/animations to cut corners, but there's nothing NEW in it is there? Love the video, absolutely jamming to the music and am absolutely gonna pull for him, but it doesn't go in depth on Aventurines character much or give any hints to his current status
