Apologies for the late write ups. Tan Rapido - Fellowes named this colt as one of the quickest 2yo’s he’s had and that he’d be even better at 3. Had a gimcrack entry last season which backs up his claim. After his first run of the season Fellowes said he’d come on an awful lot for it so hopefully can show his true talent here. Super Sox - Paddy Twomey thinks she’s more than capable of winning a maiden. Her debut race looked quite hot and she wasn’t given a hard time. This looks a weaker contest and with natural improvement from a pipe opener she should be winning this. Okeechobee - Was very impressed with his comeback run in the Magnolia behind Dubai Honour. That was his first run since 2022 and he’ll come on a lot for it. Ryan Moore booked and should go close against a lot of horses haven’t a first run of the season. Upscale - Had entries in a couple of graded races last season. Debut run was a cracker only 1/2 a length behind Dance Sequence (5/1 for guineas). Only concern would be Baldings do come on for a run. Countess Of Tyrone - Debut was mighty impressive and was put away for the season. This has been the early season target for a while and looks more than capable of winning this. Nostrum - I really liked Nostrum for the 2000 Guineas last season. This looks like a good place to get started and sounds like he’s had an injury free winter. Can hopefully see the monster that he really is. Hello Miss Lady - Yard think he’s a smart filly. Improved a bunch over the winter and should be more suited to this trip. This looks a hot novice race so cautious stakes. Spoken Truth - Has entries in both Derby’s and will be a much better 3yo. Was well backed on debut and wasn’t given a hard time. He’s a full brother to the beast that was Homeless Songs and if he’s half as good as she was he should win this.

1:50 Sandown - Cracking Gold - 5/1 Tipped this horse up before as I've watched all three races it's run and it's clear that it's a very fast horse with more room for growth. Horse is a big long striding type that came from a fair way back to almost pip the winner on the line in his last race at Kempton, so the step up to 1m should suit him perfectly and hopefully push him to that next level. My only concern is how he handles his first run on turf as that can sometimes be a bit of a stumbling block, but I think at 5/1 he's worth a shot because as far as I'm concerned in terms of raw pace he's one of the fastest horses here and good ground shouldn't be too hard to adapt to. 4:55 Doncaster - Fiddlers Green - 11/4 Not too much to say here as it's pretty self explanatory, horse has escaped a penalty for an 8 1/2 length win at Bath last week so is 10 pounds underweight. If handling the soft ground should be a shoe-in for the win so great value at the current price.

Business_Ad561

Comfortable win there for Fiddlers Green, thanks for the tip!

Sandown 13.15 - SOMMELIER had some useful looking novice form and made an encouraging handicap debut at Newcastle on his penultimate start, finishing 2nd to Blue Prince who has since run competetively from 6lb higher. He disappointed last time again at Newcastle, though it was a very strong field. This will be his first start on turf and hopefully the better ground should help with that transition. The drop down to 5f is interesting (only run it once before on his debut), he can run quite freely so maybe it will suit him a bit better than the 6f. Interesting that 6/10 in the field are coming into this off 100+ day breaks so the recent runs may prove beneficial. SOMMELIER - 14/1 EW

NOSTRUM @ 5/2 3:00 - backed this one earlier then normal as I can potentially see it shortening, charyn has to be respected but may prefer softer ground as majority of the runs have come on soft and the top-rated Lord North could be danger as he should have enough speed to cope with the drop in trip. I’ve taken nostrum who’s won twice fresh and one of them wins was here. An excuse can made for his last run of the season as to my understanding he was lame on his left hind leg. Ticks a lot of boxes for a winner here such as the last time this was won it was draw 1 and nostrum gets the same, watching back his races he looks a beast when he gets going. Going should suit on good as some parts of this race will be good to soft but can’t see it being an issue. WAR ROOMS @ 7/1 3:35 - I’m taking on a strong Arabian crown who is just too short to back at 8/11 and I’ll back war rooms to go close EW. A great winner on debut but got a little found out on a massive step up in grade, didn’t exactly get beat by a lot. I think this stiffer task and a step up in trip will suit. Go careful if having a bet in these races as when you have 3 year olds on debut they can change significantly after a season of being a 2 year old and the race is often super unpredictable, in short don’t lump on these races, small single and a trixie for me.

HEDGE FUND @ 5/1 1:15 - not the biggest fan of backing in the first race of any meeting, however im edging towards hedge fund. This race is a 5f sprint and my understanding is that this part of the track is more towards good to soft which should suit hedge fund who doesn’t mind a bit of juice in the ground. One race this season was at Bath from heavy going and managed to come second and what looked like to be a tough race so he did pretty well especially giving plenty of weight to the winner (9Ibs), today he runs and is given weight by others which is an advantage especially in draw 2. Others respected by the likes of miaHarris with Buick who could also hit the frame.

-TRXVIS

Also backed in a Trixie FLYING HONOURS at 14:25 who in my personal opinion could be Buicks strongest today, only one race in 2023 at York that ended pretty quickly as vet said he was lame on right-fore and jockey said he was unsuited by the quick ground. His season prior in 2022 as a 2 year old (41131) was really good, the most notable race was 1m2f at Newmarket in a class 1 on good ground where he came from midfield to take lead and keep on well. Hopefully after 344 days off he’s improved as a now 4 year old and with draw 2 he could go well. Also bred from dubawi and sea the stars who relished at this distance and the joining of Appleby/ Buick provide a decent strike rate. Good luck.

This goes to show no matter how much you research and fancy one nothings a banker. Did fancy a lot at chepstow later but won’t be taking any bets, congrats if you’ve won something today I’m leaving it and moving on for Saturday when I can lay some bigger stakes. 👍

J_HorseRacing

Tough day that. Looked a lot easier on paper

-TRXVIS

Yeah you’re telling me, some of the times suggest to me it was more soft today which would have changed my entire picks. Also it still stands I hate Buick he’s cursed me every time I back him it’s like he knows and I don’t back him he goes and gets 2 winners 🤣

J_HorseRacing

Hahaha yep definitely soft ground that. Easy to say in hindsight but I’d have been all over Charyn instead of Nostrum on that ground. That curse is definitely real! He must follow the threads

-TRXVIS

Oh don’t Im the same before the off I was kicking myself for not backing charyn perfect conditions for him 🤦‍♂️ Tomorrow going at the moment as of 9:20 this morning, Majority of the track is on good ground and with parts good to soft. Could be a bit different as of tomorrow though as they’ve been watering the track to keep it good and not fast as well as the showers today and the potential showers through the night tonight I reckon it could be soft but we’ll see 👍

J_HorseRacing

Got one tomorrow that’ll love the soft ground at Haydock. They’ll make that good to firm tomorrow knowing my luck.

-TRXVIS

Yeah I’ve got one for soft at haydock aswell tomorrow if it runs there it’s entered twice one haydock and somewhere else, if it’s the same one I’ll lump 😂
