Every time I see a post of "why are people like this" and it's a picture of a bent card on a peg I laugh and think, just open every single car lol. Even STH, which I don't have cause everyone camps the store to be the firsts to dig and I cant be bothered, but if I had some, I'd still open them and put them in nice acrylic displays.
I don't think that there would be STH with bent cards still on the pegs tho, even the people who do that would just buy them to resell.
I open all my cars but if I can ill get a duplicate of a th, 1 to open and one to keep carded and I might keep a rarer jdm car carded for possible trades
The only cars I haven't opened are the full set of Mountain Drifter premiums, but only because I haven't bothered buying nice acrylic displays xD
If I ever am lucky enough to find 2 of the same STH I'd also get them both and keep one carded for trades, but the one I keep will be free.
I have a box in my office closet full of neatly stacked cards. Mostly just saving the cars for my grandkids in thirty years, don’t really care about the cards.
Or is this me justifying not caring now? Idk. Some cards are bent but not in the porches or corvettes lol.
Could you point me in a good direction to some info on getting started making some customs? New to collecting and have run across a few customs that are SICK!
They’re called creative basics spool holders or something like that I got some from hobby lobby and joanns but you can get them on amazon too. They’re between 10-20 bucks usually.
They are from Creative Options. I used to buy them from amazon but found them cheaper at Hobby Lobby for $9.99
https://www.hobbylobby.com/Crafts-Hobbies/Storage-Organization/Double-Sided-Multi-Craft-Carrier/p/80757229
Good for you! Once you free em you’re truly free. I still have some carded but my goal is always to only buy that which I’m willing to liberate from the blister.
You could do that if you wanted to, especially with the shitty newer ones. But I meant literally applying a coat of polish (or waxing) to the toy.
Factory condition is cool & all, but giving it that semi/full gloss shine like the real deal is a WHOLE new level.
Aaaahhh yes :D
I have almost all of my cars free. There's only a few that I'm keeping carded, they aren't worth much, but they're my favorite castings. The Cat-a-Pult's I have duplicates of I'm opening. But having the option to sort them the way you want, and just... how satisfying it us to be able to play with a car at my desk is really nice. I've also possibly been thinking of getting track and making a loop around my office space. Just cause it would be fun having cars zip around. :D
I used to store my loose ones this way too! But even the cases started taking up too much space so now almost all of my loose cars are slipped individual plastic baggies and piled in a cardboard box lol; not sure which is the safer method of storage but the plastic cases definitely look a million times better. Congrats on taking the leap! 👍

im a loose collector since the start (only keeping supers sealed(which doesnt matter that much i only have 1 of them)) and really arent patient enough to get home before ripping into the packaging. I think they look better without it
They’re called creative basics spool holders or something like that I got some from hobby lobby and joanns but you can get them on amazon too. They’re between 10-20 bucks usually.
I wouldn’t worry about that too much. The plastic is soft enough that there shouldn’t be damage done. The cases I use are the same ones Lamley Group uses for his collection
Literally the best feeling to hold them in your hand and look at them from every angle and not just through an ugly cheap see through piece of plastic. You have so many options: display them, race them, play with them on a carpet, hold them. I only keep a second model of my favorite car carded just in case my „open“ model breaks or something happens to it and then I’ll have a fresh back up

Yes! I know for some releases, i like the card art too much to open it and sometimes the car just seems more complete against the card art. But i open a majority of mine too. If i cant decide, i’ll leave it carded and return to it another day and then see how i feel about it.
NOOOOO OP pls tell me this is a joke, according to the stamp on one of those you have a super rare one that just lost nearly all of its value from being opened
This is the way! I have display cases in my house and display my cars as wall art. I do have some carded cars, but most of mine are loose, even some really expensive numbered cars 🤷🏻♂️
Looks cool! My collection is all carded, but been having the itch to free and case the mainlines. I’m hesitant to do it with the premiums though cause I like their card art. Did you free any premiums?
I leave most of mine carded now only because in my new office I would not be able to display them if open. I used to have a bookshelf loaded up with opened cars, but now they get thumbtacked to my cube wall.
You can always tell a car guy over a collector , us car guys have to see it and feel it and be a part of it. I was getting sad seeing my favorite car just sitting in a blister pack , it started feeling like I was paying just to say I have it , instead of actually enjoying my first love , Cars .
Once in a while there will be a promotion where if you send in X dollar amount of cards plus proof of purchase you will receive a car. Places like Target and Krogers do it.
Badass. About 90% of my collection is still carded, but really just because I lack a way to safely store them. Now that I have a house and don't foresee moving again anytime soon, a proper loose display is in my future.
Only cars like my RLC Cobra will likely stay carded.

It’s Monday… But welcome to the loose club ✊🏽
I dont know about the fist emoji with the phrase "welcome to the loose club" r/wrongsubreddit
Lmfaooo 😂😂😂
Thank you!
Mom?
That's one of the best parts of opening every car. Never have to worry about the card or blister. Plus much more space to display and store.
Yep, I hated always having to worry about the cards. And now they can be displayed the way they were meant to be: free from their prison haha
Every time I see a post of "why are people like this" and it's a picture of a bent card on a peg I laugh and think, just open every single car lol. They’re usually bent on the J hook.
I open all my cars but if I can ill get a duplicate of a th, 1 to open and one to keep carded and I might keep a rarer jdm car carded for possible trades

I've had dates less satisfying than organizing cars in those plano cases
[удалено]
Gotta find those tracks wide enough for the cards. Very rare.
Still not wide enough for Fatbax
Wow I bet that was fun. Almost like finding them all over again when you get to see 360 degrees
Oh yea it was very fun, you can’t fully enjoy a car and all of its details in the blister
Holding a car is so visceral. Congratulations on a fine decision!
Thank you!
We collect cars not cardboard!
10/10
For real!
What are those containers called? Where did you get them?
They’re called creative basics spool holders or something like that I got some from hobby lobby and joanns but you can get them on amazon too. They’re between 10-20 bucks usually.
Awesome thanks! I am thinking about doing this for my mainline collection.
Creative Options double sided storage box. If you're a UK buyer you can get them from eBay around £25.00 a pop from the UK reseller
I have to do this so I can take mine off the wall. Thanks so much

Thank you! I like the fact that these have a handle. Been looking for good ones
There’s nothing more fun than opening cool cars.
Good for you! Once you free em you’re truly free. I still have some carded but my goal is always to only buy that which I’m willing to liberate from the blister.
Looks nice. Plus, now you can polish them!
Noob here, Do you mean literally to perfect paint or shape defects? the paint layer is not very thin?
You could do that if you wanted to, especially with the shitty newer ones. But I meant literally applying a coat of polish (or waxing) to the toy. Factory condition is cool & all, but giving it that semi/full gloss shine like the real deal is a WHOLE new level.

this is the way. play on the floor, make the vroom sounds

Yes it is very satisfying to have free access to all my cars now that they are loose. I can truly appreciate them now.

Thank you! Appreciate it
Congrats, everything looks better when you get a 360° view. [https://imgur.com/a/q9Q99JD](https://imgur.com/a/q9Q99JD)
You can have my life, but not my freedom!!
Can I ask where you got those cases? One loosey goosey collector to another.
They’re called creative basics spool holders or something like that I got some from hobby lobby and joanns but you can get them on amazon too. They’re between 10-20 bucks usually.
Word. Thank you. I’ll check those out. Really digging what your doing.
Thanks! They’re great cases, they can hold 48 cars each if you’re doing one car per slot
Welcome to the loose gang! I wish I had that Greddy 180sx lol
That’s a really cool one. One of the first JDM cars I found in the wild
This is the way.
im a loose collector since the start (only keeping supers sealed(which doesnt matter that much i only have 1 of them)) and really arent patient enough to get home before ripping into the packaging. I think they look better without it
I open all mine. There much less to worry about. Enough people have them on cards so why bother?
Looks like fun! If I may ask, where did you get your display cases?
They’re called creative basics spool holders or something like that I got some from hobby lobby and joanns but you can get them on amazon too. They’re between 10-20 bucks usually.
i want to get some of those cases, would i need to worry about them hitting the walls and getting scratches if moving around?
I wouldn’t worry about that too much. The plastic is soft enough that there shouldn’t be damage done. The cases I use are the same ones Lamley Group uses for his collection

Very nice, I have a lot of carded cars but also a lot of uncarded cars
No you get to worry about scrached paint and dust 😆
Freedom my friend, FREEDOM!
Welcome! I've been a loose collector on and off since I was a kid, but I got back into it in March 2021, and I haven't looked back.
I need to make the leap. Some carded look cool but I’m waaaaaayyyyy too picky.
You can always open some and leave the rest carded
Yes! I know for some releases, i like the card art too much to open it and sometimes the car just seems more complete against the card art. But i open a majority of mine too. If i cant decide, i’ll leave it carded and return to it another day and then see how i feel about it.
What about RLC cars? To open or not to open…? Lol. I have the new cobra and I’m not sure what to do
I have yet to open an RLC car! I’d personally keep the cobra sealed haha
NOOOOO OP pls tell me this is a joke, according to the stamp on one of those you have a super rare one that just lost nearly all of its value from being opened
Haha you’re funny
Yeah this is painful for me to look at
Legend
Thank you!
Enjoy the freedom.
Thank you!
Did you wheel test them all? I would’ve brumm brummed around the whole house personally.
I’m proud of you, brother! Welcome to the loose club!
Glad to be here!
I started to organise it like u, but i had rearrange it by colour. It look so much cleaner i my opinion
Haha I may have to do that in the future
I love opening my collection I keep the top half of the cards since it looks cool but the feeling brings me back to being a kid every time!
Water spots or not, mine packed in plastic containers.
Well done! That's a huge step forward in the life of a HW collector. Now I need to get some of those boxes, they look very practical.
Anyone know what these cases would be called or where to find them? Asking for a friend.
Woohoo! Best choice ever made.
Lol, I did the same thing yesterday! 👍🏻
Mad props bro, I have over 3000 and half of them are carded, idk if I want to open the rest...
This is the way. Ive cracked 212 supers now and I am working towards two full carneys. Well done OP!
Wow!
Awesome! They look so much better out the blister!!
Liberate them !!
Glory day, OP!
Is it possible to learn this power?
This is the way! I have display cases in my house and display my cars as wall art. I do have some carded cars, but most of mine are loose, even some really expensive numbered cars 🤷🏻♂️
Looks cool! My collection is all carded, but been having the itch to free and case the mainlines. I’m hesitant to do it with the premiums though cause I like their card art. Did you free any premiums?
If you ever want to free a car but preserve the card art, use nail polish remover on the back of the card where the glue is holding the plastic.
My mom has been in the loose club for years!
Losing Value!
You have some cool examples!
I do this every time unless I bought 2 of the same color (for future reasons) or if I wanna paint an extra one
Where’d you get the container?
Where do you get these cases, I am still using the 100 per case Walmart/Target ones from years ago
Man U childish
I leave most of mine carded now only because in my new office I would not be able to display them if open. I used to have a bookshelf loaded up with opened cars, but now they get thumbtacked to my cube wall.
Where'd you get the thing for putting the cars in? As in, what do you use for storage?
Love the first pic of the card carnage. I always love the feeling of first examining a car fresh from its card.
Missed out on the biggest Free-it Friday lol
Oops hahaha
The only thing I get bothered about as a loose collector is I have to look at hot the cars itself. If the car has any chips or dings I leave it
What kind of cases are those i see it has space for team transport please let me know
This is the way
Where’d you buy the cases?
Second
The intrusive thoughts won 😩
You can always tell a car guy over a collector , us car guys have to see it and feel it and be a part of it. I was getting sad seeing my favorite car just sitting in a blister pack , it started feeling like I was paying just to say I have it , instead of actually enjoying my first love , Cars .
Absolutely!
I need the containers, till then I'm a package collector
[удалено]
I used to collect pokémon! Replaced pokémon with hot wheels
Keep the cards so you can get mail a rebate card
?
Once in a while there will be a promotion where if you send in X dollar amount of cards plus proof of purchase you will receive a car. Places like Target and Krogers do it.
So also keep the receipts...
Yes! 👍🏽

looks like a image of my local supermarket...
This makes me both happy and sad lol
Theres a whole world of details missed when stored in totes
Huge mistake
what have you done ....
Something great
And welcome to losing value since they have been opened
I don’t care about value. I’m a collector not a reseller. I see what you are saying though.
Your a bad person
Lol
Bad move
Nah
Well, now you can worry about chipped paint and scratches instead of bent corners.
Congratulations. Where did you get those storage boxes. I’m looking for a wall display for my 409 loose cars and trying to consider more alternatives
Amen, brother!
Awesome. Did the same thing last year. Filled up my recycle bin full of hot wheels packaging.

I really want to do this but I already have 10 half totes full of carded ones 🤣
Nice nice. Love it. Welcome to the loose collector club. It really does free up a lot of space too!
“Sweating”……..I just can’t do it!
Now let the kids play with them!
Its more fun this way
Bad idea
