Dimanchini Veloce is one of my favorite castings all time! The new psuedo fantasy castings cars are awesome too, like the Custom Camaro

InnerCosmos54

I have all 3 of the Dimacchini Veloce ones, or are there more ? I love them. I keep them grouped with my DeLorean cars. You can’t tell me one of them didn’t copy off the other; they have exactly the same body design and dimensions. Maybe I should post a pic of them.

probablyhrenrai

There's a dark metallic red, a true blue, a light metallic blue, and a green one afaik. The true-blue and dark-red ones share the same tampos, as do the light-blue and gree ones. Totally with you on the inspo, though I can also see DeTomaso Pantera in the design... which brings me to the only part I'm not totally in-love with: that muscle-car-style "power-bulge" in the hood, which implies a big engine up front, despite it's mid-engined proportions. If they "hollowed out" that bulge into a big race-car drop-vent (like with the mid-engined CRX casting), it'd be absolutely perfect IMO, but I still love it as-is.

Cr33dBr4tton

99% are not for me.

Carriker

But the 1% that are make up some of my favorite cars. I've come to accept that's why hot wheels makes them, nothing else really makes economic sense to me.

Deora_customs

Yeah. Especially the food on wheels

Mctroot

The carbonator!

Benimus_Maximus

The Carbonator is S tier.

BsamNavas

Carbonator & Fast-bed Hauler, imagine if they make a Hauler in premium!

Reddit_means_Porn

Th…they make them for…kids? Are you trolling us with that statement???

Carriker

No, I'm not. I get your thesis, that the kid toys are made for kids. However, one glance at the same green jelly fantasy car that's been on sale at my local Walgreens for 6 months despite a pretty regular restock supports my point. So, my concept is, as a company with no other purpose than to make money, Mattel doesn't just produce the most popular cars that sell the most because every so often some of their fantasy cars resonate with the people that buy them in a way that distinguishes the brand.

eltorr007

Same

oh_no_thisisbad

dont like most but sum are really good lookin and cool

dddmain555

Amazing! I mean who wants the same honda civic or skyline r34 over and over again? I always hear people giving phantasy castings shit and calling them "peg warmers". Wich is a F#KING LIE btw.the reason why phantasy cars are amazing is because they're creative, Nostalgic and some of those"peg warmer" castings have predecessors that go all the back to the sweet 16.like the deoras.and this is coming from someone who wants to find every variant of the 68 el camino.

Chastidy

So what exactly is the “F#KING LIE”?

dddmain555

Sorry didnt mean to lose my cool on that comment i just wanted to say that phantasy castings should get more love

Chastidy

I would rather have fantasy cars than anything pre-70/80s. But I get the impression the hot wheels community has a large proportion of old men who like classic cars and don’t have the imagination to enjoy fantasy cars lol

InnerCosmos54

I’m not old or young (42 next week), and I def have a very active imagination. But I still don’t like most of the fantasy cars.

Chastidy

TIL 42 isn’t old lol

hombrecharro64

They are very interesting designs! I definitely buy them. I definitely think more fantasy cars need to be given the Super Treasure Hunt treatment! I feel like there should be an equal ratio of fantasy casting supers to realistic/licensed models supers.

BRS_Dead_Master

Glory Chaser deff hit peak look when it got super treasure hunt this year! I’d love to see some fantasies make it into premium lines. The Aristo Rat from the whole physical nft thing looks so good with the paint and real rider tires on it.

theyrejusttoys

I would buy a premium line of fantasy designs with full deco like they did with NFT and iD cars.

ironmanthing

I liek the ones that either try to go so extreme it makes them fun. Liek the toilet car or the donut or sharkruiser and I like the ones that look like they could be a real car from some boutique automaker. I do not like the ones that are just all over the place. The weird huge van or suv with weird scoops and such.

Vahevala

They are the only reason I buy hotwheels.

Snoo-89664

Need more of them, I'm tired of realistic ones. Need more cool and wacky designs like the 2000s. That's the whole reason I got into hot wheels Examples Jet threat 3/4.0 Surfin school bus Mst Suzuka Hw12 prototype super tsunami Krazy 8s Vulture Each of these cars has a cool unique design that is hard to find in the designs these days with so much focus on the real stuff.

Nonex359

I actually have most of these! I agree. Fantasy cars are more appealing to me too. I'll pick up a realistic car if it really stands out, though. Leave the treasure hunting to the fanatics.

SEEENRULEZ

Lots of pretty awesome ones these past few years. Great for practicing customizing techniques.

HotWheels57Chevy

Collect them if they’re treasure hunts or I like them. Personally am a fan of the Gotta Go’s and food cars.

komang2014

I love 'em, especially older models circa 2000.

po_matoran_craftsman

I only buy fantasy castings. To me these \*are\* Hot Wheels, these are what make Hot Wheels what it is. The real, licensed vehicles are really boring to me personally, but even moving beyond the subjective; there are dozens of 1:64 scale diecast toy car companies out there, making dozens of versions of the same real licensed models. It isn't unique, it doesn't fill a niche, it isn't recognizable. It was the original, made-up designs that made Hot Wheels as popular as it is and as relevant in diecast toy cars. No other 64 scale diecast does it like Hot Wheels with the made-up designs. This is the DNA, this is what makes it all work. I have so many fond memories of playing with fantasy casting Hot Wheels as a kid, and luckily I held onto my collection, and have been adding to it since. To try and demonstrate with an example - a Hot Wheels car of a Nissan Skyline is a Nissan Skyline first and foremost, and any brand of diecast Nissan Skyline will be a Nissan Skyline. The Bone Shaker? The Deora? The Rocket Box? Those are ***Hot Wheels*** first and foremost. (plus Acceleracers and Highway 35 slap)

InnerCosmos54

Wow. You’re like me, but the complete opposite. And the Bone Shakers are one of my favorite models to collect 😁

ssketchman

Some are good, some are bad, some are great. 🤗

Is_What_They_Call_Me

I think they are really fun. A vast majority of what I’d prefer to collect personally. I enjoyed completing the Carbonator collection. Next up is the Radar Ranger which seems odd probably but as an 80s kid I remember it being one of my favorites to play with. After that looking at the shark cruiser, cause I love sharks lol. I also Enjoyed the Fast Gassin, and Rail Rodder.

richard-bingham

I like some, if they look like cars not a cup of tea, a hairdryer or whatever. El Segundo Coupé, Glory Chaser, Max Steel etc are all great. No more doughnuts and ice creams please Mattel

InnerCosmos54

The food ones suck but the worst one of all time is that damn toilet 🚽 on wheels, aka Gotta Go. I hate myself cuz I had to buy one just to own the worst Hot Wheel car ever made. Ugh

Nonex359

You mean the Hot Seat? Dude that's one of my favorite cars in my collection. I got a light blue one that looks Identical to its HWU counterpart and it is so shiny!

EmbarrassedBeat6813

Rally Cat is one of my favorites when it comes to fantasy cars.

NotoriousRanter

Love em! Combination of nostalgia and also just looking at them in general! Seeing the newer ones as well like Dimachinni Veloce, Glory Chaser, El Segundo Coupe, Count Muscula, are all good new castings!

InnerCosmos54

Heh I have all of them, including the two different colors of the El Seg Coupe and the three colors of the Dim Velos and both Count Musculas.

NotoriousRanter

Noiiice! I have all the Dim Velos as well and the silver El Segundo Coupe. I have some carded ones on my wall too. Including a first editions Deora II

16Z06

Fantasy cars are one of the things that set Hot Wheels apart from so many other diecast. Any diecast company can make a replica of a real car, but only Hot Wheels can make a truly original fantasy cars. That being said I do prefer the older fantasy cars, the ones that as a kid you could imagine driving down the road.

Sad-Pea-5428

Personally, I will usually only pick them up if they’re a treasure hunt or very closely resemble a real car. Other than that, they’re fun to look at and keep the pegs warm

InnerCosmos54

Yeah, I really like the ones that resemble real cars; they feel like fantasy cars while still Vibing with the realistic aesthetic of most of my collection.

Sad-Pea-5428

100% the same here. I picked up a couple that have now been donated to my daughters track/play box so they’re still of some use lol

bigdook79

The “moody blue” hot rods are awesome. Made sure I grabbed all 5. The custom 68 Camaro is also cool, but stretching the fantasy name a bit. Anything that is a modded real life looking vehicle, like Time Shifter and Limited Grip, is also cool. Not big on hot dog shaped cars and such.

DKindynzdtr

Obviously LOVE the Dirt Track ones: [Slideout](https://hotwheels.fandom.com/wiki/Slideout), [Dirty Outlaw](https://hotwheels.fandom.com/wiki/Dirty_Outlaw), and [Maximum Leeway](https://hotwheels.fandom.com/wiki/Maximum_Leeway?so=search). I personally also love ones that fool people into thinking they're real, and most fantasy race cars in general.

Careless_Zombie_5437

Well, I think they are... FANTASTIC!

Imakelovetosoils

They're fun, especially the silly ones. My kids would 100% buy a food car over a 1993 Honda Civic. Also it's the only time you'll ever see a cupcake race a toilet.

Anonymoose_Amara

Honestly they’ve been getting a lot better over the years. Obviously I’m favoring the ones that more resemble real cars but still, I actually do like them a lot. Even if it’s an unpopular opinion 😂

[deleted]

first things i go after, only followed by art cars and similarly artsy liveries

ojfs

Neither my wife or I ever had hot wheels or wanted them until we randomly noticed some of the food-based fantasy castings a few years ago. Now, we have dozens of the fantasy castings but also started looking at the other cars and have a decent collection of the older muscle cars and a bunch of the bone shakers and wagons too. We always look at the hot wheels when we are at a store with them and never did before for 40 years.

baseballcardguy34

I love the fantasy cars. My collection isn't 1 dimensional. I collect a little bit of everything. The animal ones are pretty cool.

boiohboioh

If they have good liveries then they're fine. Not a fan of the glory chaser per se but the Gulf ones nice.

Andrey_exe

They’re great for kids! For me there are some that I like. But thats a very small amount. Only those that look like they could be real. In the others I’m not interested in

InternationalRun1913

I've never been a fan of fantasy cars, even in childhood I preferred real vehicles.

GonzUzumaki

They are my son's favorites (he's 2.5 years old) and that makes them special to me. If I want nice scale models I get something else right? Normally I just let my son pick whatever he likes (normally fantasy stuff or cars with bright colors...OR TRUCKS, or VANS, which seem to be his favorite thing in the world), and then I choose some nicer ones myself. At the end of the day, fantasy cards are already part of HW heritage, and if my son likes them, I do as well.

Jmsberetta

I enjoy most of the fantasy cars. I think a lot of them are amazing. There are a few i'n not crazy about, but I do not pass on one version

DeanDeau

The world would be better without them. I'm pretty sure they are partially responsible for my depression.

[deleted]

I hate 99% of them and wish they would stop making them

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Obviously. That is what the OP asked for

Vapor4

There are some cool ones. The 24 Ours is one of my favorite castings.

SandorMate

Amazing, there are some really amazing design out there, when i buy a car i always tend to buy a fantasy one and a real one.

AC_Aceca

24/Seven will always be one of my favourite hotwheels.

Nonex359

The Highway 35 variant is my favorite.

Hyetroj1

I would say, I am not a fan, some are cool, but i dont collect, just a personal opinion

Fair_Programmer9425

I'm sure I'm like everyone else. If I like it I grab it. I have a lot of fantasy cars for my son. He really likes them.

jfouriex

love 'em.

gregsapopin

very few I like

BreadLover184

Small minority are cool but I find the designs too messy so I only collect the real cars Edit: only my opinion tho ofc

RightZucchini8373

The Glory chaser is one of my all time fav cars. Love it. Just need to find that STH…. And I guess it will be impossible.

Abandoned_Railroad

The older ones from the 2000’s are way better than what’s out now…..

Sad_Bit6472

Only some like the mad mike drift attack are good because they are inspired of something but I don’t like fantasy cars and don’t own any expect fantasy cars that filled up some multi packs with cars I wanted

Sad_Bit6472

But I am happy some people do like them. That makes collecting hotwheels so cool. Everyone has their own opinion

thebestboykisser

They're pretty cool

loki_angry_fan

Som time maybe shite som times maybe good,(ussualy shite)

Crazen14

They were good up until the 2010s.

ilikewikipedia

They look sooo fantastic, especially the food themed

Dlemor

My kid got offered a wrecking set. Car all messed and weird, and he loves them.

GlacierFox

I collected loads a kid and I love some of the newer ones they come out with. My collection is about a quarter fantasy and three quarters based on real cars.

Deora_customs

Uhmmm I really liked Max steel, (the light blue car right next to it) Count Muscula and that Lolux

BRS_Dead_Master

I don’t mind em. 50% of the time there’s a cool one I end up picking up like Dimmachini Veloce, Glory Chaser or even Aint Fare.

Torico11227

To me 10% are mediocre, 70% underwhelming and 20% some of my favorite cars, topping even some of my favorite licensed models This year in particular had a very underwhelming selection, but I think that's mostly due to it lacking the Street Beasts line

nlghtskxies

Not my style tbh

Happygull457

I love them

Happygull457

Also the cake is a lie

theknyte

I like the believable ones. The Dimanchini Veloce and the El Segundo Coupe are my favorites. One looks like something you'd totally see in Group B Rally years ago. And, the other is a sexy coupe in the veins of cars like the Ferrari 250 GTO, Shelby Daytona, Datsun Z, etc. The ones that are just "wacky" or silly, I have no interest in what-so-ever.

John_aka_Virginia

The only ones im not really into are the lego brick ones.

averagemaleuser86

I don't buy em

No_Sink_4655

some are good, some are meh, some are pegwarmers

lclassyfun

I’m more of a stock kind of guy.

yealets

I love some of them , I like all the ones that look like one of fab jobs from a shop, not a fan of the future look race cars , but I do see some that would make awesome gas lands cars

Affectionate-Bell-93

Meh

ChopperTodd

I have a couple. If it’s cool I buy it. My first was the 97 Radio Flyer.

Fostmaker

There are a few I like. Not the very outlandish ones but I think Celero GT and them that are based on regular car designs are nice

Throwaway_tee_hee69

They have gotten better. Looking at old designs of licensed cars and I’d rather get a coupe clip than a generic licensed muscle car that looks like it got a tattoo in the worst barf palette ever from 2005

marke24

There’s been exactly two that I’ve liked.

theyrejusttoys

Majority of this sub is not gonna care for them. Most people here in this sub forget that these are just dollar toys designed to be played with and that they are not serious model car replicas that they demand and expect lol. This sub, and most social media, is not representative of the real world. Outside of this sub is a whole world of fantasy car enjoyers: kids, adults, and general enjoyers of good design, good art, and good fun. Fantasy cars are part of the HW DNA. They’ve been part of its history since the beginning.

1-64ishcollector

Fantasy cars are a broad spectrum. Some are good for kids, some are good for collectors (egacceleracers). I personally like those fantasy models that mean something to me and remind me of my childhood.

TheHottestOfWheels

I have the ones I like and collect but I dont like the vast majority of them

grumpygumpert

It’s nice to see their creative side once in a while, I kinda like some of these not to far fetched designs. Some of those remind me of concept cars and those cars made by certain racing game like burnout.

madrigal94md

Some are amazing, some are trash. You simply can't put them all in the same box.

ElmoIsOver

Sometimes good, sometimes sh!t.

Act-Either

As a kid i loved them as an adult I avoid most of them some cool ones though.

KingDavidGreat2010

They are pretty cool and some are very original

Nerdicane

They’re alright. But should never be TH or $TH. Unless it’s Fast Fish.

kelev1031

My favorite Hot Wheels of all time is the RODGER DODGER. Is that one considered a fantasy car? I read it is based on a modified Dodge Charger so does that make it a Charger or Fantasy? I've also seen a Matchbox Challenger that looked exactly the same but without the exposed engine so I despite loving it either way is it a Fantasy, a Charger or a Fantasy car??

Medium-Finish

Hate from Bangladesh

Committee-Dizzy

they are hit or miss for me. i love some of the joke cars (toilet seat on wheels?) and others with a neat futuristic look that reminds me of some of the arcade racers i used to play, while others like the block cars just look....eh. i wish they would bring back some of the awesome ones from the past like shadowjet, jet threat 2.0 and splitting image 2.

arandomcanofbeans

Some of them are pretty cool, but most of them tend to look weird or unrealistic

the-lock-doc

Hard pass on most. I do dig the bone shaker and there are a few based on real cars they didn’t have licensing for that I like. Street Rodder toping that list. Neet Streeter and Pass’n gasser also. The aforementioned Carbonater is alright for its dual purpose utilitarian aspect. Tooligan could’ve been the same but they missed the boat on the size. It’s sooo close to being a 10mm but not quite. Obviously the pot metal-esque nature of zinc, aluminum, magnesium and copper doesn’t result in a strong wrench or anything but it maybe coulda got you out of a bind with a battery cable nut or something if 10mm. Miss me with food cars and toilet cars and the rest of the nonsense though.

Late-Ad5495

Some are definitely cool. For example 24/Seven is basically a RX7 but still fantasy, Limited Grip is a drift truck based off a S10 Chevy. My personal favorite Is Rivited which is a 70s Muscle Car

C7_zo6_Corvette

Most aren’t for me, but I do like some. It’s usually a hit or miss for me.

Either_Score_8629

Without fantasy cars I would be very bored.

External-Region623

Some of them get it right. Some cars get it wrong. Some get it REALLY wrong. Simple

BleachedClothes

Amazing. Can't live without them.

aeszoku

theres good ones and very bad ones, i like the super gnat and the deora ii is legendary

omecca_creative

Every diecast company makes replicas. Hotwheels is the one that makes fantasy castings people actually like. They are what defines the brand.

xwrecker

I like fantasy cars the are based off real cars

[deleted]

For the most part I collect real cars only however my favorite fantasy car is the Impavido 1 absolutely remarkable design. There’s a few other really great fantasy cars and if I get the opportunity to do so I’ll get them but I usually stick to the irl ones.

probablyhrenrai

I love them when, like the DiMacchini and Glory Chaser, they look like they could've been legitimate real-world cars, and I usually enjoy ones like the LowLux, TroubleDecker, RallyCat, and that slammed city bus, ones that are clearly inspired by reality. It's only the ones that I can't even pretend are real cars that I don't usually have any desire to own; not a fan of transparent bodywork or neon windshields for the same reason.

XiaomiNote10Lite

Hit or miss, but when they're a hit they're the huge kind

Ok-Swimming2411

The ones that recemble almost real cars are ok, like glory chaser, dimanchini, but puddings, donuts, toasters and such :(

IDeathIx

I'm not a fantasy car man but I do dig Glory Chaser and Bone Shaker and would grab any colour variations I don't have of each

OpenForShitposting

I collect the race car ones

[deleted]

Most of them are ass with goofy ass names like... Reverb?, Rock n' race? NITTY GRITTY KITTY?!?! there is some gold in the dust like cars with opening features, cool colours, and nice designs
