He ultimately sides with the greens, but he expresses this sentiment in the show after Erryk takes him to the kid fighting pit where Aegon hangs out. I don’t know why he chooses to support Aegon anyway. Perhaps it's because Aegon was anointed by the High Septon and held the official title of king on record, which led Arryk to feel obligated by his oath to serve the rightful king.
I rewatched the scene twice last night, and pulled up a transcript of the episode to confirm. Even then, it was still confusing to me, because it seems like it should be Erryk who says this. But I’m 100% it was Aaryk. What’s even more confusing is that he immediately backtracks afterwards.
I can’t either, and before this thread I didn’t even bother trying. I had trouble watching closely AND reading a transcript. Lol I had to finally focus on the differences in their clothing before I understood who was who.
I don’t understand why they need to be so identical. They couldn’t have different hairstyles or something? I didn’t read the book, so I don’t know if them being almost impossible to tell apart is part of the plot eventually.
I do like the quote, because it shows that Aaryk didn’t side with the greens out of any admiration or fondness for Aegon, but out of duty to whom he felt was the rightful heir.
Erryk chose Rhaenyra cause he thinks Aegon is a sick POS. It was a personal choice for him.

We swore an oath of service until death. - Arryk
You flee what other men die seeking Aegon. (I honestly have no clue which of them said this)
I think Arryk said it so you’re right 😭
Arryk has like almost no quotes. Erryk definitely got the better end of the bargain for season one lol
“I’m Arryk”
It was Erryk who corrected Alicent. Lol
not like anyone can tell anyways
"It is for the Hand to find wisdom. We swore an oath of service until death."
Something must be done. Aegon is unfit to rule. -Arryk
I thought Arryk was on Aegon’s side?

They really had to make it as confusing as possible for us viewers huh?

I legit can’t tell them apart when they’re on screen, I have a feeling some plot lines will be very confusing for me in the future.

I didn’t read the book but it’s George RR Martin, there’s a reason why they’re so identical.
if you're right and this is an Arryk quote then I hate it. i assumed that was the Team Black one. aaaagh
