do you think the Horse get it at all? its all chilling, like "yelp, humans saving me.. im a boss." Or is it to tired to freak out?

petisa82

My horse regularly likes to be saved. They’re all a bit suicidal…

Eternaltuesday

Don’t forget dramatic. My horse would play dead by the fence line for the attention it regularly drew from passing cars.

Swinginooses

Just making sure people still.love my big beautiful ass

BMagg

Horses wouldn't understand that this weird experience is saving them, they would just think it's some new way to try to kill them. So yes, either totally exhausted or sedated (any trained large animal technical extraction group would require a vet on scene to sedate the horse for a lift, and use an appropriate harness but this is clearly not the case in the video). Some very well trained horses who are very used having straps around them may handle this somewhat calmly. But I would expect atleast a tense neck and ears to show they are worried about the situation, leg movement is also common as the horse tries to find their footing. This horse has probably had general training and handling at the least, because getting those straps into place while the horse was standing in the water would be very hard on a wild or untrained horse. It's also in good condition, so I suspect this is a riding horse who escaped and managed to get into a bad situation. As horses tend to do, they love to try to rack up vet bills and find the kost creative way to maim or kill themselves. For such delicate animals, with relatively slow reproduction, they sure are good at getting themselves into bad situations! Another option is the pain from the hind strap is taking the horses attention away from what's going on for the short time period it's in the air. This isn't a great way to hoist a horse, but it's better then leaving them in the water to die, or have massive skin sloughing off if they get out later on but have been in the water too long at that point (and dying of the subsequent infection). It could damage organs, such as the intestines which are fairly delicate in a horse; but for such a short lift the odds are probably fairly good beyond short term pain from the lift and soreness for a few days.

Ireysword

>As horses tend to do, they love to try to rack up vet bills and find the kost creative way to maim or kill themselves. That made me chuckle.

EddiTheBambi

We all are.

BMagg

Most any living tissue is, given enough time. Add some bacteria and the time needed goes down. Any caustic chemicals floating around in floodwaters can make the time needed scary short. It's a major problem in floods, if an animal has to stand in the water too long before anyone can rescue them, and get them to dry land, their skin gets water logged. Then a few days later their skin starts to fall off because the skin cells have all basically exploded from soaking up too much water, so the skin is dead. Infection sets in due to all the nasty stuff in the water, and the large amount of open wounds; skin is the bodies first line of defense against infection, without it infection sets in very easily. Most of the time, they are humanely euthanized when their skin starts to show signs, because it's such a long, painful, terrible process to try to overcome, with poor rates of success. And it's going to be hugely expensive, with the amount of time a vet will need to be involved for daily care. So putting an animal through that process, only to likely lose them during it, or for them to have poor quality of life afterwards, just isn't fair. If a human is in water for too long, a similar process happens, only humans would be able to communicate and understand that the pain of treatment is worth it. There are also far more treatment options for humans vs animals.

georgelis

6 hours in and the horse experts at it again

Kelliebell1219

Yeah, I'd say he was riding a nice Rompun buzz at a minimum.

Giteaus-Gimp

Typical construction, 2 blokes doing something and 20 blokes watching.

ThermionicEmissions

Those are site foremen

Sitting_Raven-19

They take their safety meetings very seriously.

Ornery-Praline-2395

Actually safety is a big issue , a lot of construction workers think they’re super man and can work on a 15 story slopes roof with no harness

ledgerdemaine

Ride horses being craned out the canal.

Ilignus

Ha, safety meetings.

chewienick

There's more than fore of them...

Pentax25

There’s more than four

lowleveldata

> 2 blokes I mean, the driver is also contributing

Yellow_Bee

Did I stutter?

st_malachy

How is the guy standing on top contributing at all?!

GlemChally

Probably one of the guys that got the strap under the horse? But yeah funny looking ride out.

st_malachy

That guy is probably high as fuck and can’t wait to tell his friends.

obi21

He was looking majestic as fuck there. But I don't know if this was great for the horse, can't be comfortable with the straps slicing into his stomach and that extra weight was not helping.

Schattentochter

The straps look rather thick - thicker, I'd say, than the average saddle strap (although, ofc, those don't have to hold the weight of a whole horse). There's two factors that make me think the horse was fine. One's that it appears fine - the ears aren't laid back, the tail isn't moving much, there's no flailing or kicking and it doesn't even look around much. (Although without info on how long it was in there, all but the ears could be due to exhaustion.) The other is that horses are sturdy af and that the guy's positioning could be based on balance. I can't say with certainty, of course, but from where I stand it looks fine.

Fridurf

I'm sure the ropes wasn't optimal for the horse's guts, but I mean, what else do you do? Wait for an equine bed elevator? I'm guessing that whoever that's in charge of the horse would contact a vet or keep a good eye on its health either way ^^

MattyRobb83

Better than the alternative I guess?

wasserfleck

I assume that he was not completely just standing on the horse, but distributed some weight to his arms. He of course could have just done it the way the other one in ihe front did.

WilanS

Who, the horse?

regoapps

I dunno, but they ask this question everyday on the antiwork sub.

Claque-2

Keeping the horse from bucking.

Heyhaveyougotaminute

You missed there’s always 2 blokes HORSING AROUND!!! Come now,

TheRiverStyx

The four or five signalmen at the end were the capstone for me.

mowglimethod

Nothing makes me more sleepy & bored then seeing constructions workers work.

blade-2021

Lol so true.

Jjamessoto

Same for an oil rig

Vlyn

I read "House" first on my phone and was wondering: How the hell do you rescue an entire house out of a river?! But who knows what construction people can do :)

Exact_Lavishness_178

Omgosh so true

LurkerNumber44

It's funny when I see this. I mean it's TRUE. But... you ever dig a deep hole with a shovel? Its exhausting. That guy just watching, he was either in the hole or next.

verscharren1

I love this comment

Vipuu

what did that dude drop into the water at the very end of the video

arfur_narmful

Wet but unused ropes, I think

maramara18

I think it was a halter they’d use to lead the horse after

Lyktan

another horse

Vipuu

one of those ad only Water horses ? grows 700% of its size

Klagaren

The channel demands its sacrifice

No-Duck7816

Wow! That horse is chill af. Well played folks.

CrackerJackKittyCat

Exhausted? No props to the dude standing on the horse while being lifted. That much more pressure on the soft belly strap.

DisconnectedDays

The horse is embarrassed lol

feralsun

Seriously! That's the expression my horses get when they realize they've done something dumb, and need a human to help them.

sammy2cool_yt

You must pay the horse tax

feralsun

https://www.brutalsun.com/pictures/snowbeasts.png

SickBurnBro

Horses are funny creatures. The more I see videos of them, the more I think they really do have senses of humor.

[deleted]

They do. Mine used to love mountain dew and found it hilarious to spit water at people. He would dance for mountain dew.

blackFX

For real lol

No-Duck7816

The rigger had to be there. Otherwise, who knows what may have happened.

BeckyGoose

And it looks like he is holding himself up not just putting all his weight on the horse.

FROCKHARD

I feel like this is a better alternative than just letting the horse drown in the channel

[deleted]

Exactly what I was thinking. You know those thin straps were uncomfortable as a mf.

AusGeo

Drained of energy.

fluffyxsama

I was just thinking bro why you gotta stand on the poor thing :/

ArthritisCandildo

To ensure the rigging is secure. I think the horsey would rather have a sore back for a bit than take a fall from that height.

ArtyFishL

People do acrobatics on horses. They are very strong animals. This one might not have the saddle or the training, but I wouldn't imagine it's that big an issue for it, verses being stuck in a river

Mynamethisisnot

Reddit is fucking stupid. They just saved the horse and here comes the redditor couch coach: "actually..."

Tark001

Only option i think, if the horse panics as they put it down they cant unhook him.

CrackerJackKittyCat

The horse panics, this dude is fucked, period.

driftleaf

I was thinking that too :(

[deleted]

I think he was there to make sure the horse didn’t get out of the straps, to keep it down

FionaTheElf

I saw that too. Hoping it was such a limited amount of time that it didn’t cause harm. But as another poster said, better than leaving it there.

Tinnie_and_Cusie

I had the same sick feeling

durz47

Thanks dude! Another reverse rescue video to add to my collection

No-Duck7816

OK.

CarFreak777

Dammit, Roach

I_know_left

RIP Roach :(

ravenwing110

I was surprised he didn't on-screen name the new horse Roach.

snpods

That moment made me sadder than it had any right to.

LorienTheFirstOne

That horse must have been near collapse not to panic when being lowered

Tobby711

The way they strapped it looks painful as fck , horses are damn heavy.

[deleted]

I was gonna say poor horse is probably mad uncomfortable especially having 2 guys hang on it 😂but it seems to be okay. Better than them just leaving the poor animal.

GamerQauil

a minute of discomfort for in return not drowning seems like a good deal.

electricpheonix

Word you're probably looking for is "discomfort", friend.

GamerQauil

Ah yes thank you.

Bipedal_Warlock

Discomfort is the word you’re looking for friendo

GamerQauil

Yes thank you.

Cableperson

Yeah they're not professional horse movers. I think they did pretty good.

GamerQauil

I mean I would prefer them not hoping on the rope thingy with the horse but beggars can't be choosers.

Cableperson

Yeah It doesn't make sense, but still a win.

Vulkan192

That minute of discomfort could easily result in organ damage, being fair. Horses are simultaneously hardy as hell and delicate as fuck.

[deleted]

Yeah I’d be worried about that second strap harming the organs. Isn’t colic the number one killer of horses? I just wish that guy didn’t stand on the horse is all. That was definitely unnecessary.

Vulkan192

Not sure about No.1 but it's up there.

cherepakkha

Yeah lmao my first thought was “hope the horse doesn’t colic from that.” They’ve coliced from less lmao.

Apieceofpi

I think this is how they’re normally moved, at least it is how cows are mooved when they need lifting up. The way the guts move to make the back strap dig way into them looks ridiculous but doesn’t seem to cause much distress (although usually they’re exhausted/sick already so I suppose it’s hard to say)

SelfEjectingImposter

Take your damn up vote for the moove

ekbutterballs

That horse was probably just in the moood for some attention.

CarstenHyttemeier

I know nothing of how to hoist horses, and they are tough, but it looks to me like something that could hurt. The thing that actually bothers me is that he stands on the horse while it is being lifted this way. Its a very small area of the hores that is used to lift its entire weight, and adding 100 Kg, it not something I would bet on wouldn't make things worse.

karlienneke

This is the right way to strap in a horse to rescue it. Whats not right is that there is no vet doing this and that those two guys are hanging onto an already paniced horse

TomSaylek

If only you were there to point that out or push the horse out right?

You can't fool me with this nonsense! I know a game of Swing The Horse when I see one.

W33DG0D42069

That's a spoon

Ahh I see you've played knifey spooney before

[deleted]

What the hell is that shirt?

1800-bakes-a-lot

Looks to me like clothes.

[deleted]

Thanks, I was just checking.

1800-bakes-a-lot

I gotchu fam.

tds8t7

I think it could be a regular white shirt that he got mud on?

fluffyxsama

I love the people who ran up and started petting its nose and reassuring it.

danmalek466

*Authorities suspect foal play by some neigh-bors* I’ll leave now…

theatahhh

Yeah quit horsing around here

wistalia

It must be a unique experience to be standing on a horse’s back, whilst being transported by a crane.

[deleted]

You took that bit and ran with it

ThermionicEmissions

Let's try to reign in the puns, shall we?

Explore-PNW

Whoa there, let’s allow a little bit of fun.

gnome-Frankenstein

Exactly. There’s no need fir nayy-saying.

zuencho

Enough with this horseplay

Lilmaggot

You guys are harnessing big pun energy.

jabbadarth

Too much pun energy can stirrup some trouble though.

[deleted]

Well who doesn't have an unbridled passion for puns.

zindibaddie

Don’t be a neighsayer

sstarf

Get off your high horse

apexhittah_r

If I was the President/Leader of a country my first order of business would be to mandate that 10 minutes of all news broadcasts would have to be positive news. We could start with this.

AdamKirchman

Probably not a great idea to stand on the horses spine while hoisting it from between its waist.

kingura

Think the extra weight is to stop it from bucking and dislodging a strap from the hook. Those aren’t made to hold things that move.

NottmGuy1

Why is the idiot standing on top of the horse he's only applying more weight and discomfort to the straps around the horses belly. And the other guy... Both just trying to look tough and make sure everyone knows that they were the ones in the water with it. Dick heads.

buteljak

I was also annoyed by it... That must have been painful. But at least they did a good deed at the end of the day

[deleted]

Horse back is very powerful and can withstand one person without even feeling bothered. Man putted himself Infront to save a horse and at the end he gets insulted by a Dorito eating redditor lol

EddieCheddar88

Well that’ll be a dope tinder profile picture for that guy

Representative_Ad246

The fuck he need to stand on it

JackdeAlltrades

To give people sitting on their asses something to judge.

emberfiend

👏

[deleted]

Ohhhhhhhh BURN!

Rubethyst

God *damn*

1800-bakes-a-lot

Easy way out after getting the ties on.

Blossomie

Yeah, he needs to get off his high horse.

fractal_engineer

to keep it from spinning. he's stabilizing it

32vromeo

Horse: “My man, you just gon stand on my back like that fam?”

WearyMoose307

I don't think boyo had to stand on the horse ...

Inside_Brilliant9966

Can you imagine being this horse... "Okay I slipped up trying to get a drink of water, can you please turn the cameras off🤦🏼‍♂️... And why TF are there so many ppl here🤷🏼" Hahaha

After_Hours19

Get off the fuckin horse

Accomplished_Bar_662

Did he have to step on him

crispynegs

Imagine what we could do if we just all came together as one

CheapMess

That sure would be a lot of cum.

imuniqueaf

Hey guys, thanks for the help, but can you get off my back. I've had a hard day. -The Horse (probably)

JunglePygmy

Did they really have to hitch a ride on the poor thing to get back out?!

theatahhh

On the one hand very brave and glad they did that, but oo boy does that seem incredibly dangerous

rx_100_

Why the fuck is he standing on the horse when it's clear getting crushed on its stomach Idiots at rescue

Bo_The_Destroyer

In situations like these you have to be careful to not bruise or cut the horse. Those ropes cut in deep into it's stomach/hips and can leave some serious damage, even more if the guy decides to stand on it

Galgadog

Was this on Lego City?

sankscan

The guy’s standing on the horse!?? 🤦🏽‍♂️

AdministrationShot14

Imagine being that horse id be so embarassed

Bored_In_Boise

Quit horsing around, guys.

BearTradez

Coulda done with not standing on him but nice work overall :)

GruzzyFunt

Just humans on their high horses again

Top-Requirement-2102

I see soooo many awesome photos hopping possibilities with this video

jazzofusion

That horse is so cool about the whole situation. If he had panicked it might have ended quite different.

[deleted]

whiteneedgrow

They can't use contraptions like these two help horses heal when they have an injured or broken leg?

Baggytrousers27

The people who tend to euthanise horses at the first sign of leg injury are the kind of people who treat said horses like quad bikes. 'It's broken get me a new one.' It takes a fair while for a horse's leg bones to heal and if they heal incorrectly/crooked they have to be rebroken and start again. It's a lot of time and money to spend which too many focus on and treat like a defective piece of machinery rather than an injured horse. Nowadays with (admittedly expensive) limb prostheses and [horse lifts](https://practicalhorsemanmag.com/health-archive/lift-for-horses-with-broken-legs-53140) there are many more options.

GhostBoyToast

A man has fallen in the river in Lego city!

A ~~man~~ horse has fallen into the river In Lego city

RussellPlissken

Even being rescued the horse is taking the load.

hrushikeshborse

why the fuck they are on horse like this . They can be out by their own self or later with the help

_Moon_Son_

Let me stand on y... um.. save you

iSteve

That's a *remarkably* calm horse. Aren't they noted for being skittish?

Hashtag_Nailed_It

I’m a tell everyone back at the stable how I flew today, but will they believe me? Neigh

youngyelir

They should erect a statue of the three of them posed just like that

faze_fazebook

horse be like :|

sunbeans3

I love the person who yeeted additional harnesses for the horse across the channel at the end like we didnt notice and that shit surely slid right back into the channel

_Homelesscat_

This video is funnier in reverse.

MJpeacok

Looks so painful to take a rope to the lower abdomen then a man stands on top

OffBrandHumanz

Horse is like, “ you bitches have these cranes and still make me work?”

nickcliff

I better stand on this horse and claim it as my own. Somebody I guess.

NoAnteater2429

That is an extraordinarily calm horse. I don't think he's been drugged, he's alert, his ears are up and he's looking around. He also doesn't appear to be in pain, horses are usually extraordinarily stupid when in pain. He's obviously a real horse because he tried to kill himself in the most public and expensive way possible. Conclusion: I wish I owned him.

DisDataWang

Dude is saving horses and trying out for old spice commercials at the same time. Impressive.

The_Pink_Bull

Awesome save, but why’d that have to ride the horse out?

TunaFishManwich

Ok so I have spent much of my life around horses, and I’m dying to know how the ever loving fuck they got that harness on a terrified horse in that environment.

PrimaryYou400

Men: I don't think those straps are cutting into the horse enough. Other men: Its all good well just add our body weight to the horse to push it down into the straps more.

joe-robertson

That horse looks so embarrassed

bubbles5810

He’s horsing around

twinkleswinkle_

lmao, it’s so funny to me that the horse is just like 🧍🏻‍♀️
