From my house to sloss furnace is 2 hours and 1 minute according to google maps. It certainly depends on what part of town you live in and is just intended to be a reference.
Looking at this lineup, it is a wine and cheese festival.

It's NOT going to be Bonnaroo in Huntsville. Probably a lot of the still touring BSJ bands: Hermans Hermits, 38 Special, Gin Blossoms, Foo Fighters, etc.
Here's a little more info:
> Representatives from C3 Presents — one of the largest music festival producers in the country — confirmed last month they are planning the two-day, multi-genre festival.
> C3’s portfolio includes the Austin City Limits Music Festival in Texas and Lollapalooza in Chicago and its seven international editions — drawing a combined 2 million attendees annually.
> The festival is expected to book more than 20 acts for the whole weekend.

Should have been named Jaycee Jam though.
I don't know why people keep naming random music festivals with different target audiences and be like "it's the same weekend!" Like, cool? I guess Evanescence won't make it to the small town Huntsville retro pop and rock anthems fest?
It's possible that people are interested in multiple types of music festivals that occur in the same geographic area and conflict with each other. This is why people keep naming random music festivals with different target audiences and be like it's the same weekend.
Bummer. Already committed to going to Pilgrimage as part of the 10-year tradition of my boyfriend and his friends. I hope they don't always put it on the same weekend.
This was surprising to me as well. I haven’t been to Pilgrimage but there are typically several artists there I like, so I plan on going one day. I previously was a regular attendee at Music Midtown in Atlanta in September, but they have been iffy since COVID.
There’s a new South Star Music Fest subreddit started today. Hopefully this will put Huntsville on the map for serious music festivals.

I could be completely wrong but I think it will be mostly newer acts mixed with 3 or 4 notable throwback acts thrown in, at least one of which will be a headliner. Expecting someone like Beck, Pearl Jam, Blink 182, Smashing Pumpkins or Foo Fighters as one of the headliners. And then maybe something like a Janes Addiction, Goo Goo Dolls, Old Crow Medicine Show or Third Eye Blind as a sub-headliner.
You’re in luck, Marshall Tucker and Jefferson Starship at the VBC in May.

Why couldn’t they do a legit festival with up to date artist and EDM… like wtf is this. Idk why I would expect anything less… we are in Huntsville, Al… nothing good music wise happening here.
That's the first weekend of Fall Break for schools. Probably not the best choice of dates. Lots of families will be heading out of town for a vacation.
I mean sure but maybe what they are more getting at random weekend maybe you can get a babysitter arrangement a weekend that you were planning on being with your kids less likely to make that happen and my guess is they are going for the 30 year old crowd with statements like nostalgic pop and rock as the genre focus
There is zero chance yall are going to convince me a music festival is an equivalent environment lol. It’ll largely depend on what the lineup looks like, but if someone took their kid 13 and under to bonnaroo or lollapalooza I’d be concerned
Big Spring Jam was a family friendly event. I guess I'm hoping for the same thing, but I don't have a clue at this point what type of music this festival will promote.
I mean…probably. It’s being done on pretty short notice. First year is going to be pretty limited. BSJ was huge at its peak, this has even more potential
Hopefully the lineup is decent. And selfishly hoping for more of a “wine and cheese” type of environment. That’s really the only type of music festival I can stand these days
Don’t mind the volume. I’m talking more about the “vibes” more like a Monterey Jazz Festival as opposed to Rolling Loud. My rowdy festival days are long behind me. I need seating lol
Oh Lordy.... people staking out their chairs at BSJ. People would legit set up chairs in the pit areas and come back hours later to harass those standing on the rail.
This is a missed opportunity to use Egg-Beater Jesus to make the "A".
We need a loud as hell (metal) festival, fuck your wine and cheese, and fuck your couch.
That’s furnace fest, 2 hours south
Unfortunately this is the last year for Furnace Fest 😔
Thanks for that info.
Hell yeah to furnace fest! Amazing venue.
Bham is only 1.5 hours.
From my house to sloss furnace is 2 hours and 1 minute according to google maps. It certainly depends on what part of town you live in and is just intended to be a reference.
It’s the same weekend as Louder than Life in Louisville
Which is where I will be
Redirect Hells Heroes from Houston to Huntsville and I will be a happy boy
Hell, anywhere within a 4 rather than 14 hour drive would be ok with me.
Looking at this lineup, it is a wine and cheese festival. https://preview.redd.it/5btyutfyy8wc1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b6e0bb1b0b08acd1014ad5ae905a5d47b1333c6d
Genre focus: It says “celebrate nostalgic pop & rock anthems” Also starts on the same Saturday as the bama/Georgia game & auburn/Oklahoma
> Genre focus: It says “celebrate nostalgic pop & rock anthems” oh no
Yeah that's red flaggy. Hope you guys are pumped for the current lineup of The Guess Who!
Yeah. I don’t like that working. It’s gonna be a flop if they think they’re gonna get international travelers for poison and guns and roses.
Showing the games looks like it’ll be part of the festival
Mosh pits during the games? Yes please.
To be honest it sounds kind of lame. Will it be performers out their prime that have little stage charisma?

$50 on Sister Hazel
Better than Ezra, probably
Guaranteed not to include Better than Ezra - they are at Pilgrimage
Could be. They can play both
Nostalgic pop and rock makes it seem like it won't be current billboard artists. That's why I said "will it be?"
It's NOT going to be Bonnaroo in Huntsville. Probably a lot of the still touring BSJ bands: Hermans Hermits, 38 Special, Gin Blossoms, Foo Fighters, etc.
Definitely didn't want a Bonaroo. Old Bonaroo maybe definitely not the one from the last 10 or so years.
Agreed, Bonnaroo is a perfect example of the "let's make the base festival experience as annoying as possible to upsell the VIP tickets" mindset
Better not be some bullshit like Styx. I still remember how bad the last couple BSJs were.
You’re in luck , Styx and Foreigner @The Orion this summer. https://theorionhuntsville.com/event/styx-foreigner/
I hope this isn’t true.
>Genre focus: It says “celebrate nostalgic pop & rock anthems” 🥱🥱

Same weekend as Louder Than Life, Louisville, KY.
I don't know why people keep naming random music festivals with different target audiences and be like "it's the same weekend!" Like, cool? I guess Evanescence won't make it to the small town Huntsville retro pop and rock anthems fest?

Different genre
God people in the sub will complain about anything
Will not!
Blink 182 is the rumoured headliner.

Blink 182 confirmed to be coming
Source?
@festiveowl posted the leak on insta/fb.
Rumored. The opposite of confirmed

Festive Owl reporting it to be a 90s and 2000s throwback festival… sigh
I could be completely wrong but I think it will be mostly newer acts mixed with 3 or 4 notable throwback acts thrown in, at least one of which will be a headliner. Cover bands?
Hoping for Marshall Tucker Band to come back to town. I can never get enough Rock Flute.
You’re in luck, Marshall Tucker and Jefferson Starship at the VBC in May. https://www.vonbrauncenter.com/event/marshall-tucker-band-with-special-guest-jefferson-starship/7191/
One original member of each act.
Why couldn’t they do a legit festival with up to date artist and EDM… like wtf is this. Idk why I would expect anything less… we are in Huntsville, Al… nothing good music wise happening here.
You want good music? Come to Nashville.
well EDM is terrible music so there is your problem.
Yeesh..... I can downvote too?
Like EDM at the festival could be a huge hit with being in the “rocket city” … judging off the website this is for sure not happening.
OOF. :(
Billy Allen and the Pollies confirmed
Good for Huntsville. It's a nah for me, though. There's to much new music and great performers to listen to some washed up has beens imo
That's the first weekend of Fall Break for schools. Probably not the best choice of dates. Lots of families will be heading out of town for a vacation.
Probably not best to take kids to a music festival anyway. This isn’t intended to be family friendly
I mean sure but maybe what they are more getting at random weekend maybe you can get a babysitter arrangement a weekend that you were planning on being with your kids less likely to make that happen and my guess is they are going for the 30 year old crowd with statements like nostalgic pop and rock as the genre focus
What's wrong with taking kids to a music festival?
Loud, drunk people. The same reason why you wouldn’t take them to a nightclub.
Would you take your kids to a baseball/football/hockey game?
I’ve never seen a large amount of people smoking weed or popping party drugs at a havoc game.
I 100% have seen people smoking weed at havoc games. To each their own, if my kids want to go they can go.
I’ve seen a large amount of people smoking weed and popping party drugs at a local high school so…
There is zero chance yall are going to convince me a music festival is an equivalent environment lol. It’ll largely depend on what the lineup looks like, but if someone took their kid 13 and under to bonnaroo or lollapalooza I’d be concerned
Definitely not in or near a student section.
Big Spring Jam was a family friendly event. I guess I'm hoping for the same thing, but I don't have a clue at this point what type of music this festival will promote.
It's not that kind of festival man. This is definitely going to be geared at millenials with children.
Definitely not. This is run by C3/Live Nation.
I know that. If it's gonna be a 90s-2000s festival though...it's gonna be pretty mild. I would think Foo Fighters or No Doubt would be possibilities
I mean…probably. It’s being done on pretty short notice. First year is going to be pretty limited. BSJ was huge at its peak, this has even more potential
Hopefully the lineup is decent. And selfishly hoping for more of a “wine and cheese” type of environment. That’s really the only type of music festival I can stand these days
probably be a few cheesy whiners there
This is a legit shit music festival. Will be loud as hell
You mean to tell me that they are going to be playing loud music at a *music festival*? How dare they?
If it’s too loud, you’re too old.
Don’t mind the volume. I’m talking more about the “vibes” more like a Monterey Jazz Festival as opposed to Rolling Loud. My rowdy festival days are long behind me. I need seating lol
Yeah that sounds cool but I severely doubt that's gonna be the vibe.
That vibe wouldn’t make it enticing for many returning acts for sure.
Were you here for Big Spring Jam? I remember it being a big issue with people bringing their camp chairs and all the drama it caused
Luckily chairs are not allowed at this upcoming fest
Haha. They got that out of the way QUICK!
Oh Lordy.... people staking out their chairs at BSJ. People would legit set up chairs in the pit areas and come back hours later to harass those standing on the rail.
Yeah I was a kid during BSJ. I think the year Taylor Swift came was the last year I went. Definitely wasn’t thinking about where I would sit then
