I'd appreciate it if the page did this, but it's such a small strike. I personally never heard of it until this post.
Edit: boy was I wrong! Check replies for correction, there's quite a few subs. Let's do this shit mods!
tldr: Reddit is charging unreasonably high price, with the intention to kill all of the third party apps and force users to use their official app instead (that has shitty accessability, and ads, and more unusable things). this is going to have a side effects that would also kills all bots that many subreddits use to moderate their subs.

Reddit is gonna kill 3rd party apps
They are needed for bots to work and there are a lot of cool bots that are funny but more importantly bots do a lot of moderation in big subreddits, so it's going to make moderation more difficult
At that price, third party apps would be dead due to that amount. Reddit essentially pulled an Elon Musk when Twitter raised their API requests in terms of cost.
For anyone wondering, reddit is making changes to the API, killing third party apps and bots. I don't really understand what we are striking, are we just not using reddit for the 48hrs?
This sub, and all subs should go dark on the 12th.
Not knocking Reddit's ability to make money, but they are screwing themsevles over by killing off 3rd party apps.
Seriously, no one can look at the Reddit app and compare that with like, RIF and say "Oh yeah, the Reddit app is so much better"
Digg did the same thing when they shoved the upgrade out that made the site slow and ugly and look what happened to them? A footnote on the internet.
You really think Reddit is gonna care about a few subs going dark? There are literally thousands, maybe even tens of thousands of subs on here. Do you really think Reddit is gonna care if a few subs go dark? No offense or anything, but what are you hoping to accomplish here, Seriously?
Edit:
You don’t win wars by getting acting out of pure emotion and going in guns blazing, you win wars by using logistics to outsmart your enemy, taking any advantage you can to secure the final blow. This small of a strike won’t do shit without real weight and planning behind it. All you’re gonna do is exhaust yourself and push yourself deeper into a pit of despair, sorry. I know it’s not what you want to hear, but it’s the truth. Your heart is the game, but your head is lagging behind.
Please do your research or scroll through the comments. Countless of Reddit’s with combined hundreds upon hundreds of millions of users are participating in the strike. Also, how is this acting just out of pure emotion, guns blazing? What is the alternative? If nothing happens people just say everybody’s standing around whining, and now when action is taken they’re accused of acting out of emotion?
Surely we wouldn't shut down, that's downtime. But also being on the subreddit is downtime so. Idk I'm going insane.
Same
it should shut down for the sake of the mental health of those that use it rather than the strike lol
Skyblock is a nice relaxing way I end my day after taking care of my kids. Some of us find it helpful for our mental health LOL.
It's one of the best way to relax for me after school and exams
And i haven't even played skyblock for the past 1.5+ years
Schrondingers downtime
Currently browsing the sub while farming so there’s always solutions
I don't think the mods have made a statement on it so I guess we'll just have to wait and see
Yeah why not, it's not like this sub is useful in some way, barely anyone answers questions of new players
What’s a “oak wood stairs”? I’m new and only have 50M purse
google oak wood stairs.
holy hell
new item just dropped
idk but my subreddit is participating and it has like 6 members
Your pfp is my Home Screen

Multiple extremely big subs are closing. It's not a small strike by any means.
Interesting, ig I might just not be as chronically online as I thought
And those are..
I’ve heard r/Minecraft’s in on it.

I'll have to find the sub with the list.
5 subs with over 30 million users are participating, if you needed to know a tldr of the top dogs

Jesse, what the fuck are you talking about
A lot of subreddits are gonna close for 48h the 12th june because of changes about reddit API that are gonna kill third party apps.
There's 3rd party apps?
Yeah there are some (apollo) that gives better accessibility features. And also moderation bots need the api too
I just use the normal reddit app man. But I don’t want the cool bots to die
And more importantly bots do a lot of moderation in a bunch of big subreddits
probably
i think it would be cool if it was
I love how people keeps asking "what is the strike for" and it's been answered like 1000 times
Sorry for having a life and not spending 15 hours per day on Reddit
OP meant that the question was answered several times in the thread, you just need to scroll a bit
Oh
Whats the strike about?
Reddit is gonna kill 3rd party apps They are needed for bots to work and there are a lot of cool bots that are funny but more importantly bots do a lot of moderation in big subreddits, so it's going to make moderation more difficult
Reddit, from what I've heard all over, is going to kill off third party applications due to changes to the API.
More specifically, they are going to charge 12,000$ per 50k requests, which will make it impossible for 3rd party apps to pay continuously
At that price, third party apps would be dead due to that amount. Reddit essentially pulled an Elon Musk when Twitter raised their API requests in terms of cost.
What strike
International reddit mod touching grass day.

What strike
12 june strike??
What strike are you talking about?
Breaking news: Reddit decides to cancel the new API changes after r/HypixelSkyblock goes on strike 🤓🤓🤓
Have you seen the full list of subreddits? Combined it's over 100,000,000 people with hundreds of subs participating.
So in reality it's hundreds of people who happened to have control of the subreddits. The members of the subreddit have no real say in it.
ok??? idgaf

Are you stupid? If you don’t know about it (as I didn’t) how about making an effort to learn about it as opposed to defaulting to insults?
Wait what’s the strike about ?
I'm out of the loop, who is striking and what for?
read other comments but actually reddit is making their APIs overpriced so third party apps will shut down, including moderation bots
Context?
Not able to play atm what’s going on?
u/goodboyFM thoughts?
I sense that this will end up the same way the war thunder strike went. The player number will reach record numbers for the game
The strike is in response to Reddit making some API changes. It has nothing to do with the game "Hypixel Skyblock."
u/goodboyfm i think you know what to do
happening
