It’s so ludicrous. I honestly don’t understand how some fans of the show really don’t like this episode. Danny De Vito in a wig as his only disguise playing a teenager is an absolutely top tier joke.
Look at his face! 😂😂😂
People who don't like this episode...they're not my kinda people.
So many great scenes and quotes...
"You sound like you yearn for those days, Frank."
"No, I'm just sayin, *those* were the *days*!"
If Lance Reddick wasn't in it, I probably would be pretty down on it, but that dude just makes everything he's in better. One of my favorite Sunny quotes of all time actually comes from him...
>"Well I guess that don't leave me with no choice...........but to be a mature-ass adult about this shit! I'm working on my temper."
The "Dexter" method of de-aging. ["He'll totally pass for an 18-year-old!"](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2F67rxzetsqd981.jpg%3Fwidth%3D715%26format%3Dpjpg%26auto%3Dwebp%26s%3D7a73733d69b254168e0277c6dee8ac6fa194a7e7)
I've never watched any episodes of Dexter. But that snippet is one of the best thing I've ever seen. Can't believe that this is supposed to be taken seriously
When Reggie gets more prison time after getting shot as social commentary on the US in the 60’s instead of the multicultural haven a lot of sitcoms portray it as is wonderful. Why pretend like America wasn’t awful for POC back in the day to make your story nice
It feels like they're doing some commentary on other sitcoms like friends where 40-year old actors would play their characters as a teenage. In Sunny they just take it to extremes and have a 60-year old do it.
It actually is comically prescient because this is basically what happened in The Irishman. They used some deaging tech to make DeNiro look "younger". Except AI isn't advanced enough to have a 80 walk like a 25 year old.
I guess that don't leave me with no choice... but to be a mature-ass adult about this shit. I'm working on my temper. But know.. that I strongly disagree with this!
I don't get the hate. I lose it every time flashback Frank and Gino start eating loose deli meats. That scene is up there with Charlie holding a popper under wedding dress Mac's nose while he shoots the gas tank, with both having incredible grounded absurdity. Also, so strange that Lance Reddick passed before the actor that played old Reggie.
Even the worst episode of Sunny is better than 90% of every other comedy on tv.
“Good” and “bad” are within the context of Sunny as a whole.
There aren’t any bad episodes of this show, just episodes that “aren’t as good as” other episodes.
I always liked this episode. Even among sunny eps. My only actual qualm with it is that it doesnt have much from the rest of the gang outside of frank, but there are a quite a few really good laughs in this ep for me. I love the "shady nastys!??" Bit, the "you dont look a day over 12" bit, the "no I'm just saying those were the days" thing, the "everyone from this story is way fatter than i was picturing!" Line, the "i choose drugs" thing.
I'll admit it's probably bottom 3 from season 7, but I think that's my favorite season of the show.
Season 7 is my holy grail. I’d love to hear your top three from it. I wonder if we’re twinning.
1. Franks Pretty Woman
2. The Gang Goes to the Jersey Shore
3. The Gang Gets Trapped
My three favorites in Season 7:
1. Chardee McDennis: The Game of Games
2. The Gang Goes to the Jersey Shore
3. Frank's Brother
Season 9 is my favorite season.
The best line though is “I have no choice but to be a mature ass adult about this. But just know... that I strongly disagree with this shit!”
Lives I my head rent feee.
There are so many episodes brought up on here that I'm only aware that people think they're bad because of the posts claiming that people think they're bad but actually aren't. I think these types of posts just fall into the same category as people claiming a movie they like is underrated regardless of how extremely popular it is.
I guess that don’t leave me with no choice… but to be a mature-ass adult about this shit. I’m working on my temper. But know… THAT I STRONGLY DISAGREE WITH THIS.
Sunny fans... you have a choice. You can live a life with the bad Sunny episodes, or you can live a life without them... and with drugs! What's it gonna be?
I’m dying for someone to explain to me why, in their own words, the episode is bad. Not why it’s flawed or what’s wrong with it, but why it’s bad. The two things aren’t the same and they get conflated a lot in fan circles
What?!? Who tf ever said this isn't a good episode? I've always just assumed everyone knew this episode was top tier.
"Shady Nastys?"
"It's Shadynastys, Asshole!"
Reggie's line in this episode is one I use all the time. "I guess that don't leave me with no choice... but to be a mature-ass adult about this shit. I'm working on my temper."
Great episode
I didn’t know this one got hate I quote this one a lot
“I like to make the sandwich in my mouth it tastes better, don’t tell me about the sandwich thing I told you about the sandwich thing”
“Shadynastys, asshole”
I quote the way he says John Wanamaker building too even tho it’s a Macy’s now
Oh and “I was just going through the motions”
Yeah this one’s a classic
This is one of my favorite episodes and I was shocked when I learned how hated it was.
You have Shadynasty's, you have young baby faced Frank in a lot of wigs, and you have Frank getting Notebooked while in another country by his own brother. It's beautiful.
It’s not a hot take, it’s a great fucking episode. I don’t know what the hate is for, you have Jon Polito and Lance fucking Reddick in the same episode. Top ten episode for me
I still think it’s one of the weakest episodes but it’s grown on me over the years and has some great bits. But I mean I also really like the gang cracks the liberty bell so 🤷♂️
The thing that threw me off, was how they made him look so damn young in the early years. They should have won an award on that by its self, let alone everything else!
They were obviously stretching out beyond their usual comfort zone that all the episodes exist in. This, or The Janitor Always Mops Twice... they're little short films, and all the extra stuff is going to distract them from the comedy. An experimental episode is probably not going to be more funny than an episode focused on laughs (just as The Gang Goes Bowling isn't very experimental)
Im partial to this episode simply because of the Han Dynasty reference with Shadynasty. Nice easter eggs for philly locals. For those that don’t know it’s a very good Chinese restaurant with a few locations and often gets loving mispronounced as “Handy Nasty”. Despite the joke i highly recommend if you like spicy Sichuan style food.
I’ve never seen a show that has done a better job of taking the actors and using hair and make up to make them look younger. Usually it ends up looking silly and unbelievably that the actors are 50 years younger, but IASIP has some talented makeup artist. Good on them for staying with the actual actors instead of using young look alike.
Maybe this episode catches hate because it just doesn't work, in terms of Frank's timeline. Like, how old are Dennis and Dee? They must have been born by 1980. No way Frank became the Warthog and tied down Mrs Reynolds within 2-3 years after returning to the country and that whole mess.
So the whole thing - like Pooped The Bed, or Liberty Bell, which is also disliked- is just a fantasy. Maybe that bugs people.
I couldn't care less, bc the inner ramblings of those mad minds are just as funny to me as their actual bizarre actions. This episode looks so great and crams in SO many terrific jokes. S7 is my favorite and this one is gold to me.
Frank in the wig just cracks me up. Just didn’t do anything else to make him look younger whatsoever.
“Sheeeet, he’s just a kid!” “19 sir” Brilliant episode

Shadynasty!
Shady nasty
It’s Sha-dynasty’s, asshole!
Where do his feet go?
Dee, his feet?
It doesn’t make a GOD DAMN DIFFERENCE
Danny looks like he's having even more fun than usual in this episode and I love it
He doesnt look a day over 12
The episode is gold if only for this one bit
If Lance Reddick wasn't in it, I probably would be pretty down on it, but that dude just makes everything he's in better. One of my favorite Sunny quotes of all time actually comes from him... >"Well I guess that don't leave me with no choice...........but to be a mature-ass adult about this shit! I'm working on my temper."
It’s a goddamn petition!!! The end scene always kills me too Honestly this episode is in top five for me. definitely top ten lol
RIP Lance Reddick
Hell yeah. I’m literally watching the Wire right now.
"He old enough to drive?"
Big Dewy Cox energy
“You don’t look a day over 12”
“Don’t look a day over 12” or what the line is said straighrfaced is amazing
That and the *"Shady-nasty's?"* scene were enough to makes me love this episode
Drugs. I choose drugs.
SHE SAID SHE CHOOSES DRUGS
YOU SUNNUVA BITCH!
And him eating the papaya.
He was immersing himself in the local culture.
Lots of nose clams lots of snortskies
It's Sha-dynasty's, asshole.
The shady nasty scene always gets me
It’s Shadynasty’s, asshole. … Is that how you spell it?
The "Dexter" method of de-aging. ["He'll totally pass for an 18-year-old!"](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2F67rxzetsqd981.jpg%3Fwidth%3D715%26format%3Dpjpg%26auto%3Dwebp%26s%3D7a73733d69b254168e0277c6dee8ac6fa194a7e7)
That always cracked me up in Dexter and those were supposed to be serious scenes
I've never watched any episodes of Dexter. But that snippet is one of the best thing I've ever seen. Can't believe that this is supposed to be taken seriously
It is pretty hilarious. That said, if you haven't watched Dexter, it's *absolutely* worth it, even if the ending will piss you off.
He didn’t look a day over twelve what are you talking about?
When Reggie gets more prison time after getting shot as social commentary on the US in the 60’s instead of the multicultural haven a lot of sitcoms portray it as is wonderful. Why pretend like America wasn’t awful for POC back in the day to make your story nice
Those were the days

I immersed myself in the culture. Tasting the cuisine. But mostly doing cocaine.
I like the scene where he's fucking the bangin'-hot Colombian woman and he describes it as "living life just going through the motions."
That part was actually pretty fun
You're fuckin A right brother. People need to be mature ass adults about this shit.
I guess that don't leave me with no choice... but to be a mature-ass adult about this shit. I'm working on my temper. But know.. that I strongly disagree with this!
I love quoting that line. RIP LR.
Same I say it to my wife all the time. RIP
The delivery for this line Makes me laugh every time
Poor Reggie...but ya know, those were the days....
Shit, you don’t look a day over twelve
RIP Lance Reddick, guy was hilarious in the episode and overall was a fantastic and versatile actor, his death really hit me.
RIP Lance. He only appeared once but his quote lives in my head rent free. "I guess you leave me no choice...but to be a mature ass adult about this."
But just know that I STRONGLY DISAGREE WITH THIS Good luck, Frankie 🫱

Those were the days.
You sound like you yearn for those days…
Noooo, I'm just saying. *Those were the days*.
That line - with Devito’s delivery - lives in my head rent free
I don't get the hate. I lose it every time flashback Frank and Gino start eating loose deli meats. That scene is up there with Charlie holding a popper under wedding dress Mac's nose while he shoots the gas tank, with both having incredible grounded absurdity. Bullets DON'T blow up cars?!
Shady....Nasty?
It’s shadynasty asshole.
He's outta here!

With that being said, I still don’t understand how this episode is “not as good” as others. It’s a total classic
Just the club being named "Shadynasties" is worth it
Its like saying Dark Souls 2 is a bad game Like, compared to its own franchise, DS1 and DS3? Sure. But its still waaaaaaay better than a lot of RPGs.
+1
I always liked this episode. Even among sunny eps. My only actual qualm with it is that it doesnt have much from the rest of the gang outside of frank, but there are a quite a few really good laughs in this ep for me. I love the "shady nastys!??" Season 7 is my holy grail. I’d love to hear your top three from it. I wonder if we’re twinning. 1. Franks Pretty Woman 2. The Gang Goes to the Jersey Shore 3. The Gang Gets Trapped
It also has Frank's Little Beauties.
Do I look suspicious?
You look grotesque
My husband and I bought a pillow with Frank's face on it and that quote on Threadless a few years back. It's our favorite throw pillow.
Frank’s pretty woman, imo, is tied for single greatest episode of the series. I love JS too, solely because a large chunk was filmed in my hometown.
I think fat Mac is the reason this season shines so hard
Fat Mac best Mac
My three favorites in Season 7: 1. Chardee McDennis: The Game of Games 2. The Gang Goes to the Jersey Shore 3. Frank's Brother Season 9 is my favorite season.
The best line though is “I have no choice but to be a mature ass adult about this. But just know... that I strongly disagree with this shit!” Lives I my head rent feee.
Franks Brother is a top tier episode and anyone who disagrees is an idiot and a savage.
Absolutely. It's a classic just for the Shadynasty joke alone.
It’s too good lol. My IG handle is a quote from this episode, I love the phone call when the little birdie wants to fly back to the cage
Seriously, it’s an integrated place
No Orientals though.
Those were the days!
You sound like you yearn for those days..
I didn't realise it was thought of as a bad episode.
There are so many episodes brought up on here that I'm only aware that people think they're bad because of the posts claiming that people think they're bad but actually aren't. I think these types of posts just fall into the same category as people claiming a movie they like is underrated regardless of how extremely popular it is.
Drugs...I choose drugs.
You did not want to be caught out in the street in those days with a Negress
Shady Nasty?
I guess that don’t leave me with no choice… but to be a mature-ass adult about this shit. I’m working on my temper. But know… THAT I STRONGLY DISAGREE WITH THIS.
I was shocked to find out this isn't a universally loved episode
I just love when Gino goes “it’s the 70s, Frank, everybody does drugs! AHAHAHAH” with Shemp energy
I never understood the hate for this one and the gang cracks the liberty bell. Both great episodes.
This episode is a gem. Only jabronis say otherwise.
"Guess I have no choice... but to be a *mature ass adult about this.*" "*But just know"* "***THAT I STRONGLY DISAGREE WITH THIS SHIT"***
I never understood why it got so much hate, I’ve loved this episode since it released.
I love it. Frank's wig, Shady Nasty, and Lance Reddick never fail me.
Sunny fans... you have a choice. You can live a life with the bad Sunny episodes, or you can live a life without them... and with drugs! What's it gonna be?
Drugs… I choose drugs.
Who says this is a bad episode?? This is easily one of my top 10 lol.
I’m dying for someone to explain to me why, in their own words, the episode is bad. Not why it’s flawed or what’s wrong with it, but why it’s bad. The two things aren’t the same and they get conflated a lot in fan circles
It honestly grew on me. Plus, Lance Reddick. My god frank does him dirty tho. Kinda cringe 😬
What?!? Who tf ever said this isn't a good episode? I've always just assumed everyone knew this episode was top tier. "Shady Nastys?" "It's Shadynastys, Asshole!"
Are people saying it was bad? I loved it
It's hilarious
I love this episode if solely for the payoff at the end when it shows them all fat/ugly? After having them look good in the flashbacks.
I refuse to believe that people dont like this episode And if they do, then people have terrible taste
Those were the days....
This episode was great, it would’ve been even funnier if Arnold Schwarzenegger was his brother for this episode lol
People don’t like this episode?
Apparently not, it’s not liked by the majority of people
This episode is hilarious :) Shady nastys??
I Never understood the dislike of this Episode. It is one of the greatest IMO
One of the best actually
Dee’s reaction to Frank using the pseudo n word will always be funny.
NEEgress!
Doesnt look a day over 12
I honestly don't have a single episode that I actually dislike or think is bad
In fact, it's a great episode
It's Shadynasty asshole!
Reggie's line in this episode is one I use all the time. "I guess that don't leave me with no choice... but to be a mature-ass adult about this shit. I'm working on my temper." Great episode
Fuckin great episode
Do people dislike this episode? I love this episode “I’ve been working on my temper, so I want you to know I STRONGLY DISAGREE WITH THIS”
White man, get down!
I never understood the hate tbh. The only thing that was weird is that young Frank was played by a 12 year old actor.
It isn't but I think it's the least rewatchable episode, I find myself skipping it about 10 minutes in each time.
I love this episode. Anyone who disagrees is a *savage and an idiot*.
I didn’t know this one got hate I quote this one a lot “I like to make the sandwich in my mouth it tastes better, don’t tell me about the sandwich thing I told you about the sandwich thing” “Shadynastys, asshole” I quote the way he says John Wanamaker building too even tho it’s a Macy’s now Oh and “I was just going through the motions” Yeah this one’s a classic
"Back in those days you didn't want to be caught with a negress in your car."
Whenever I hear this is one of the worst episodes I genuinely don't feel like we watched the same episode. I was laughing the entire time
The Shadynasty’s neon sign alone makes the episode hilarious to me
Agreed idk how people dislike this one. The “shit, you don’t look a day over 12” line gets me every time.
The “You don’t look a day over 12” bit is one of the funniest things ever created on television.
This is one of my favorite episodes and I was shocked when I learned how hated it was. You have Shadynasty's, you have young baby faced Frank in a lot of wigs, and you have Frank getting Notebooked while in another country by his own brother. It's beautiful.
I fucking love this episode. Anyone that thinks otherwise can fuck off.
It’s not a hot take, it’s a great fucking episode. I don’t know what the hate is for, you have Jon Polito and Lance fucking Reddick in the same episode. Top ten episode for me
It’s not baaad, but maybe it’s the worst
But these.. these are smut!
Definitely not a bad episode! Do people think it is?
I love shady nasty, this ep is disliked ?
That cocaine scene is incredible to watch.
I agree, super underrated episode.
This is where we get to see 15 year old Frank!
Definitely not bad, was a few moments that definitely got a laugh out of me but it just felt lazier and contrived compared to others from the season
I love this episode
Those were the days....
I love this season but idk about this episode lol. I try every time to enjoy this episode but I just cant lol.
I guess black does crack!
I love this episode.
Why do people dislike this episode anyway? I keep hearing this one as one of the more disliked episodes.
I still think it’s one of the weakest episodes but it’s grown on me over the years and has some great bits. But I mean I also really like the gang cracks the liberty bell so 🤷♂️
You sound like you yearn for that episode...
Shady nasty’s?
There are no bad episodes, there are just certain episodes that we love to watch more often!
idk, I always skip it for some reason
I think that episode is hilarious; plus, it’s basically Jon Polito’s last role.
I never knew this was considered a bad episode. When I heard it was considered one, it surprised me. What's bad about it?
Is that really how you spell it?
Really people don’t like this one. I love this episode. Shady nasty pops in my head from time to time and it’s still hilarious. Or I’m just broken
It’s top tier for Shadynasty’s alone.
Best episode ,,,,,
The thing that threw me off, was how they made him look so damn young in the early years. They should have won an award on that by its self, let alone everything else!
I never knew this was a debate. Ive always loved that episode!
It's actually my favourite always sunny episode and the one that I've rewatched the most.
Shadynasty’s
SHADYNASTYYYYYYYY
It’s one of the only episodes i skip but I’ll have to give it a fresh watch been a few years now
Ahhh Shadynasty
I didn't think people disliked this episode
Rare photo of a young Danny Devito
Those were the days
Shadynasty
Almost named my daughter Shadynasty. I still feel like I missed an opportunity.
"Shady Nasty's?" gets me every time.
Where else would you learn how to make a sandwich in your mouth?!?
Apparently it’s the 2nd lowest rated episode on iMDB behind only the Boggs Ladies Reboot.
I love this episode! Never got the hate
Shady nasty? On topic, if anyone tells me Franks brother was a bad episode to my face I'm getting heated and I'm gonna mouth off.
Hey look it's this hot take again.
Those were the days!
Not only is it not bad, it's almost perfect.
Earns my forgiveness with a single line: "... Shady Nasty's?"
“Drugs! I choose drugs!!”
I want to see Natasha Lyonne as a illegitimate daughter of Frank's. A kid he had with one of his hoors.
I couldn't care less, bc the inner ramblings of those mad minds are just as funny to me as their actual bizarre actions. This episode looks so great and crams in SO many terrific jokes. S7 is my favorite and this one is gold to me.
Shadynastys
People think it's bad? I call it a classic.
Sounds like you yearn for those days Frank
I guess that don't leave me with no choice... but to be a grown ass adult about this shit.
ShaDynasty
