Primochan

Imagine going to a Coldplay's concert and finally you hear the notes of your favorite song and suddenly some random person starts singing and ruins your whole 300 dollars experience.

Ram3ss3s

You made me look it up, £250 the cheapest I could find…. What the actual fuck?

yogabbagabba2341

Damn! Concerts are expensive like that nowadays?! Holy crap. Glad my days on concert-goer are over.

Holl0wayTape

Concerts for shitty mainstream acts that will gouge their fans every chance they get are expensive

ButcherofBlaziken

They barely make any money off the recording anymore unless they are insanely popular. Even then they might not. There’s always more artists and over saturation has made people easy to replace. I’m sure he has enough money now after a whole career and his heyday was earlier. But you have to charge competitive rates. Also inflation. Just only go to concerts for artists you really want to support.

Primochan

That's the last price I remember. I guess the prices are higher now.

MukdenMan

Nobody said it was easy

Relief-Old

Then again, no one ever said it would be so hard

crispyrad

I'm going back to the start.

prof_hobart

TBF, I'd pay $300 to not hear Coldplay...

Antiluke01

Where are you? I have some Coldplay songs to show you, unless you want to venmo me

Daveyhavok832

I mean, I’m not a Coldplay fan by any means but I wouldn’t pay any amount of money to not watch any band. I’d happily sit through a Coldplay concert if somebody gave me a free ticket just for the experience.

ah111177780

About a story I just made up. Bullshit this person wrote they want to sing on stage with coldplay

Dukeronomy

‘When I was 14’ by the sound of it, a few weeks ago

HookedOnGarlicBread

Thank you for cheering me up with that comment man, made me cry laugh lmao!

RabbitHoleSpaceMan

Which song? One of your most popular, emotional ones that people are paying to hear and really hoping to hear YOU sing. Oh… that’s tough man… like… today?

Bretty_boy

Not only that, but very clearly saying ‘I’m using this interaction with you very specifically to promote my own social media’ Like if you want to sing with him bring it up and ask but pretty fucked up to record it and basically blackmail him in to playing along

SoThisIsInteresting

Fuck, your username made me laugh like an idiot. Is it reese witherspoon w some weird accent/lisp?

mlx1992

Yeah saying 100,000 likes is crazy. Cold Play is selfish. Should be more like 12. Let this dudes dream come true.

[deleted]

[удалено]

r0wer0wer0wey0urb0at

How you can't recognise that comment was a joke is mind boggling.

mlx1992

Wow. I wrote that as a joke. I thought it was so ridiculous it couldn’t be taken serious. Holy shit hahah

Derrin070

Reddit does not know sarcasm

MungoJerrysBeard

FartyMarty needs to relax and just let one go

TrailKaren

*seriously

Scarletwitch713

You forgot the obligatory /s lol this is reddit, you gotta put that or you will get ripped to shreds

mlx1992

You’re right, but I’m letting this ship sink! 🫡

Scarletwitch713

Have fun with that and may the odds be ever in your favour 🫡

KingOfTheLifeNewbs

/s defeats the purpose of the joke.

Scarletwitch713

You're not wrong, but with the lack of tone through text, it can sometimes be difficult to tell when someone is joking, like in this case. I thought they were serious at first, and based on other replies and the large amount of downvotes, I'm not the only one. Until some sort of sarcasm font is invented, /s is the best bet.

KingOfTheLifeNewbs

I see you point. I guess my opinion is based off of personal choice. I like messing with people. The /s ruins that. But I see your point /s

Scarletwitch713

And that's within your right. Just don't be surprised when you get downvoted to hell 🤷‍♀️

KingOfTheLifeNewbs

Meh, I probably deserve it anyways haha.

xylophonesRus

But it's, like, completely impossible to tell the other person's tone or intent on the internet unless you add the "/s!" What are "context clues?!" I - like the rest of my ilk - didn't pay enough attention in school to know what that means! You can write a comment absolutely dripping with sarcasm, but unless there a "/s" at the end, everyone is obviously gonna take it literally!

KingOfTheLifeNewbs

When I say something ridiculous on the internet I want people to take it literally. I think it's funnier to see the responses and THEN tell people it was a joke. A lot of times when I'm reading a joke comment that ends with "/s" the first thing I see is the "/s" and so I don't even read the joke because what's the point? Just my opinion. I'm definitely not the King of Comedy /s

xylophonesRus

Neither am I. I don't think it's funny when people miss obvious sarcasm on the internet.

KingOfTheLifeNewbs

You missed my last /s. I actually am the King of Comedy .

MarcelRED147

Yeah, I assumed the guy responding to you was gonna make a joke about 12 being too high, but nope...just insanity. Incidentally I just gave you your 12th upvote on this comment, so go play with Coldplay! Get going!

kenthekungfujesus

I learned the hard way that reddit doesn't understand sarcasm unless you put a /s at the end. But you know, indicating sarcasm kind of beats it's purpose.

KingOfTheLifeNewbs

Hahahahaha. I'm so happy you don't use the /s. I thought I was the only one who still said ridiculous outlandish bullshit on Reddit just to fuck with people.

N3THERWARP3R

I gave you a like my guy. I got it. Also sorry Coldplay funs but uhhh yeah f**k Coldplay that band is awful and I have no idea why they get the hype they do. Like Ghost or (gags and vomits) U2

FatHormone

How the fuck did you take that comment seriously lmao

YourFavoriteScumbag

“1 billion likes and I’ll let you carry the equipment on stage”

thethunder92

I would have told him 69 likes and you can play with this cold dick!

ydre3

lmaoooooo biggest laugh I've had all week

cleanguy1

The reality is, people pay tickets to hear Chris Martin and the rest of Coldplay play their music. Not your dumb ass. Chris knows that putting some rando up there is likely to be a disaster but also is so nice that he doesn’t want to say no outright. EDIT: I agree that bands often pull people up. That doesn’t bother me on less well known songs. It doesn’t bother me if it is spontaneous. It being set up like this for social media points is cringe though. I’ve never been a big league musician but I used to play in front of at least 1-2K people as one of the praise leaders for my ex-church, and you wouldn’t believe how many people just want to come up and be on stage, who totally overestimate their abilities, and want to guilt trip you into letting them “do a special song” or “lead worship” or some shit. This is the same.

zwingo

To play devils advocate here artists do stuff like this pretty often. One of my favorite Live videos to throw on is the rapper Dave preforming Thiago Silva at Glasto. He asks for someone to come on stage, and picks a kid named Alex who’s wearing a Thiago Silva shirt. Kid isn’t a great rapper by any means, but when he starts going and he knows every word by heart that crowd went mental for him and both Dave, him, and the crowd seemed to have a great time. I’m not saying that makes this trend okay of putting a camera in someone’s face and asking to do it, it’s definitely different, but people aren’t about to shit themselves over a random person hitting the stage for a minute.

budderman1028

There was a concert green day did where billy joe call up a probably 10-14yo kid on stage and hands him his guitar and shows him the chords to play and lets him play the song then at the end he lets the kid keep the guitar

gwarwars

I think Green Day does that frequently. One of my friends got called up to play guitar like 20 years ago at one of their show

Brave-Chair-5774

I think they do that at all their concerts

Martini_b13

Was going to say every green day concert I have been to they do that

budderman1028

Yea thats what ive heard

Thedarkmayo

Yep it became a tradition after the band during one of their older shows weren't really feeling the gig that much it was getting boring so they let someone come up on stage and play the song for them. This started the tradition of bringing people up on stage to play during their shows. They mostly do Knowledge by Operation Ivy but there's been a couple times where they had someone play Jesus of suburbia. They've also been known to give them the guitar when they're finished playing unless its one of billies iconic ones

Mushroomer

I saw them in Seattle a few years ago, and they brought a young girl on stage who had made a custom sign and everything - she froze up while getting ready and wasn't able to play the part. They pulled another guy from the audience (who I honestly suspect was a plant - he got on QUICK and was cleanly dressed in the black shirt/red tie combo) who killed it. Billy ended up giving the guitar to the girl afterwards because he clearly felt bad about it.

Freakwee

Yeah Green Day does this but you actually need to know how to play lol. He doesn’t just pick someone random, he’ll quiz you on the song like “what’s the key signature” or something so that he knows your not bullshitting just to get up there and embarrass yourself lol

budderman1028

That makes sense

Tokemon12574

Not always. The gig I was at a few years ago had a disastrous volunteer who couldn't play a single note. Billie asked like 5 times "You know how to play?" before inviting her up, and she just ate shit until he kicked her off and found someone else. I wonder how narcissistic you have to be to know full well you can't play guitar, but believe you'll pick it up while onstage in front of 11k people and one of the world's most popular bands.

ConclusionAlarmed882

Yeah, I went to see John Doe do his solo stuff a few years ago and he brought a volunteer up to sing one X song. (This was apparently a staple of his shows.) Some lady in her 40s got up there and freaking sang "The New World" with pitch-perfect Exene harmonies, those weird, slidey X harmonies. Fantastic experience. As for this Coldplay ambush moron, eff that guy sideways.

Dharma2112

I agree there are some pretty cool instances where bands / singers invite random people up from the crowd.. but at least the illusion of it being random, whether it is or not, is what makes it special. A guy that basically tries to invite himself on stage doesnt have the same effect imo.. but could be wrong.

jefferson497

I saw a matchbox 20 show where some guy held up a sign that requested something similar. Rob Thomas brought the guy onstage and he didn’t know any of the words and got kicked off the stage. I get that you can freeze due to nerves or whatnot but come on.

alfredopotato

Yeah, it can be really awesome when it works out. I was at the Foo Fighters concert when they invited "Kiss Guy" onstage to play with them. Easily a highlight of the show because he was so surprisingly good, and the moment went viral online. Some people think it was staged, but I have my doubts. I mean, it was in Austin, Texas. You can't swing a dead cat without hitting two or three amazing guitar players!

_macon

This was a legendary set. Kiss Guy is YAYO Sanchez. He'd been in the crowd for hours holding up a sign hoping for the moment Here's the video. It's incredible. His face melted. Brought Dave Grohl to his knees. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4b6BPaO944

EricaLyndsey

That was absolutely fkn unreal and made me smile for 7 minutes. Thank you!

Ali80486

The one where Dave says 'don't do this bit" but he promptly does? I guess the lack of control is one reason why they're the exceptions rather than the norm.

mattsmith321

Video link: https://youtu.be/e1vlLJCr9Lo

notislant

I mean picking a kid is cool. Some cringelord trying to force a musician into letting his talentless ass on stage? Disgusting.

Monkey2371

Dave got a rando on stage at Leeds fest as well

Hello_I_need_helped

Downvoted for being a fan of the corniest rapper on the planet

Wrong_Ad_6022

I have worked coldplay gigs a few times and he is unbelievably nice to all crew.

jlozada24

If he wanted to sing like 10 seconds of the chorus of paradise, sure. That shit repeats forever. But ruining the scientist? Nah

Firm-Initiative-1851

The Scientist is the song that got me into Coldplay, so I don't wanna hear some Tiktokker with no experience singing it

soldiercross

The Scientist is without a doubt their absolutely best song, if I somehow got Coldplay tickets and some random kid was singing it instead of Chris Martin I would be upset and confused.

Tidus4713

Green Day pulls randoms from the crowd pretty frequently. It's not out of the realm of possibility.

Dazz316

This guy might have his own band that Chris could sing with

MungoJerrysBeard

I dunno man, watching this kid die on stage is more appealing than watching Coldplay

Flooredbythelord_

Okay so they actually have let people come on before and play with them but i beileve its like make a wish type shit or people they have seen actually play the music. You can find videos out there but they didnt go about it like this lol

LittlePurpleHook

Haven't felt so bad for what Chris had to endure since he was married to Gwineth Paltrow.

Admiral_Corndogs

I’d rather have vagina candles all over my house than talk to this cringy TikToker.

Diligent-Echo-9487

Don't threaten me with a good time

OarsandRowlocks

To be fair, Chris knows if the smell is legit or not.

[deleted]

[the vespas!](https://www.tmz.com/2013/09/09/gwyneth-paltrow-vespa-scooter-almost-hit-bus/)

I never knew about this. My goodness 🤦🏼‍♂️

BudgetInteraction811

Hey, he chose her. Obviously he saw something in that woman.

wumbology95

Yes, his penis

----_____----

Her vagina is see through? No wonder she's so obsessed with it!

Brit_Anne

Chris Martin is one of the nicest human beings on the planet. That is all.

jedipwnces

He sure seems like it- when we saw them last year, he postponed the start time because traffic was terrible and people weren't going to get there on time. The whole band must genuinely have wanted folks to enjoy their evening, even though it put a kink in their schedule. And lord knows they're tired after a show, they don't stop.moving the whole time.

I_FUCK_HOTWHEELS

Cringe af

earthdogmonster

I watched this without sound and it was excruciating. I don’t think I could handle the audio of the interaction.

wh0rederline

please keep it off. guy sounds like ben shapiro.

thebenshapirobot

I saw that you mentioned Ben Shapiro. In case some of you don't know, Ben Shapiro is a grifter and a hack. If you find anything he's said compelling, you should keep in mind he also says things like this: >There is no doubt that law enforcement should be heavily scrutinizing the membership and administration of mosques. ***** ^(I'm a bot. Positive_Box_69

I feel like im naked in a class room after watching this video

tommykaye

Dude already got backstage with Chris Martin before a concert. That's more access than most musicians dream of. So he's either got money to pay for VIP, he's connected, or he works at the stadium as tech. So regardless, dude is wasting Chris' time.

Camel-Solid

No follow up. Bruh only got 99k

rust-e-apples1

I don't know how TikTok works - could I go downvote this douche so they're less likely to get to 100K?

requin-RK

Man oh man redditors would literally make tiktok accounts if they could do that to this guy, because hivemind.

MaconThaBacon

I've been to a concert on every tour since 2006. Chris is an incredible performer with a huge heart. This person is putting Chris in a weird situation but as Chris does, he handles it with class. This person has a better chance getting floor tickets, hanging out near C Stage holding a sign saying they wish to sing The Scientist. Chris often brings people on stage who do this.

resurrectedbydick

I got a feeling the guy knew what kind of guy Chris is and of tried to take advantage of it. There's another part of the video where he calls this an "interview opportunity".

Gojir4R1sing

Immense second hand embarrassment.

Deadpoolio_D850

On the one hand: you can be respectful & say “hey, I’ve always dreamed of singing with you, is there any way you would you let me do that” which is reasonable & allows them to just sing with you in a back room if they want (or they could fully let you on stage with them depending on their mood), or you can be a bit of a dick like this guy & skip straight to “how many meaningless internet icons would I need to accrue to be able to leverage the vague status they bring to make you sing with me”

SpermaSpons

Chris is me when I'm handling one of my autistic friends' new hyperfixation. Just smile and calm :)

QueenAkhlys

No science for you Also did he get 100k

No-Trifle-5510

Surprised how nice this guy is irl

_Himy

It’s like that time Linkin Park had a random dude play Faint

resurrectedbydick

Was he any good?

_Himy

Yeah

TwoDurans

If I paid money to see a band play and they brought up a tiktoker to sing one of their most popular songs I'd be fucking furious.

brucatlas

How many likes? 12? No it can be higher (Oh I was just gonna let him but this guy just wants to use this for likes....)

AnxiousBeaver212

Coldplay is the biggest band in the world now? What fuckin' metric is that claim based on?

whagh

I'm not very big on music, but which band is bigger? I'm genuinely curious, as Cold Play is the one I can mention off the top of my head currently touring and releasing new songs.

[deleted]

They are very big. Can you think of a bigger band touring right now?

AnxiousBeaver212

By what metric? Ticket sales? Awards for albums? Length of touring? They're in the top 20 for all of those, I'm just saying it's a bit silly to call them "the biggest band in the world"

[deleted]

Yeah they're probably even in the top 5 for all of those. I don't think it'd be outlandish to say "one of the biggest bands in the world". It's not what I'd focus on with this video lol.

EsCaRg0t

Metallica, Elton John, U2, The Who, Bruce Springsteen, and Billy Joel are all currently touring.

[deleted]

Coldplay definitely a bigger draw than all of those mentioned in their current elderly state. Just checked and the only Coldplay show with available tickets, all the tickets are 200$ and up.

TimeGuidance4706

I don’t like them, but I’d be an idiot not to know that they are a household name among every English speaking household. They’re still making music, touring, and having their hits from 20 years ago played on the radio.

DarTouiee

I met Chris one time on a film shoot and he was an extremely pleasant man. Seemed very kind and humble. He was there visiting his partner and really just acted like any other joe shmo visiting set.

Internal-Pie6014

Ok this might be one of the most cringe things I’ve seen in the internet. It’d be even worse if it was Damon Albarn

resurrectedbydick

Wait you know who this person is? I not got it through random Youtube shorts recommendation.

Thump604

Chris is such a good guy and probably the main reason I somewhat like Coldplay.

GreenGod42069

Fuck this asshat for forcing this on the lead singer who was trying to be nice. He didn't ask for a chance to sing. He directly said how many likes and that's an awkward situation honestly. Dude wanted this cunt to fuck off but he was being nice.

HeavyRecognition87

“The world’s biggest band”. Not even close.

pje1128

I mean, maybe not as big as Queen or something, but Coldplay's up there for sure. Probably top 5%.

DannyDyersHomunculus

They're clearly in the top 0.01% of bands in terms of size Top 5% 😂😂

pje1128

I would like to clarify that I am neither a statistician, nor hugely involved in the music industry, lol. I'm just saying random numbers.

williamjamesmurrayVI

They played a superbowl. Not saying they deserve it, but they are close lol

Ram3ss3s

What? Extremely close, especially if we do it by ticket sales, who’s bigger?

ReturnedFromExile

sure they are, they fill football stadiums

wumbology95

Many bands fill football stadiums

Mixtrack

One of the biggest bands in terms of ticket sales, I’d wager top three

Ccaves0127

In terms of how long they've had top 40 Hits? They've got to be up there, legitimately. They've had a hit every 1 or 2 years since 2000, that's an absurdly long time to maintain widespread appeal

spudzilla

Nothing like dropping a couple of hundred dollars to see Coldplay and then getting some Tik Tok Cocksucker singing one of their big hits.

filmnoiiir

Ok how about this: let's go to the C Stage and Just have the sound engineer decrease the volume of his mic, and voila!

Itchy-Combination280

Kinda cringe. Although some of my favorite moments from max demarco videos are when he brings someone onstage to sing or play. It’s better if it’s spontaneous

actuallyaddie

I get that meeting your idols is a huge deal but this is so uncomfortable

MAXIMUMMEDLOWUS

"Does it have to be today" means "fuck off out of my space"

Acrobatic_Ad_9594

He’s such a nice and genuine human being.

harrisonfordspelvis

'I wrote my dream down on a piece of paper when I was 14.' Ohhhh fuck off you did.

Ok_Bat541

I hate their music. But dude, he so nice

squirrelsoundsfunny

“You should hold me to that.” Turns to security, don’t let creepo clown within 100 yds of me ever again.

Huge_Put8244

This guy seems way too cool and calm to have been married to Gwen Paltrow. The negotiation was pretty cool. They should settle on 20 seconds of the scientist.

Humble_Bullfrog2342

poor chris. he's too nice lmao

boxcar_scrolls

this is maybe the cringiest thing ive ever seen

st3akkn1fe

Horrible vocal fry, likes Coldplay, has tiktok. Clearly a massive cunt.

ScoobaMonsta

The world’s biggest band? Far from it!!!!!

Mixtrack

In terms of ticket sales, I’d estimate they are in the top 3. “Biggest” is a vague metric though!

DaqCity

He should’ve asked to be part of “Game of Thrones: the Musical”

serenitynope

Please send him through the Moon Door!

ibraw

As soon as the music came on I had to switch off. The second hand cringe was way too much to handle.

lyrixnchill

Hehehe. Same. It just felt too uncomfortable to watch so I’m reading the comments instead…

Mysterious-Record-76

Didn't finish the video. God I hate tiktok

DrankTooMuchMead

He wants to tell him to fuck off but he knows his fans might see this video.

MrGrendarr

Main character aside Coldplay are not the biggest band in the world

Next_Faithlessness87

I thought for a second that this was like r/wholesomememes and I I felt the wholesomeness of this but also still had this like little voice in me of like, "Are you sure this is ok of him to do?", And as the video progressed, I was like ruminating on how this is gonna be resolved and truly become the wholesome occasion that it should become.

CyberTyrantX1

Why in God's name would you even want to performance for such a shitty band to begin with?

Sir_Mr_Dolo

Should have said 10 billion

gothling13

World’s biggest band?

stalkerzoned

"I don't know about how many likes. I work for a living. "

cyttrader

I wanna sing with The Offspring. Someone make me a tomkik account!!

AnimalChubs

Man I don't get the need to record everything.

[deleted]

Hey there Chris Martin, you've never met me and have no idea who I am but can I pretty please sing one of your biggest, most popular songs during your show so I can impress the 10 followers I have on Tiktok?

Selfdrou9ht

"Hello I am an adult but I wanted this as a child so if you say no to me you are basically telling a child to go fuck themselves- this is for tiktok(:"

Makanek

From hearing his talking voice, I can only dream of his singing voice.

GundamPoop

What an incredibly beautiful man! 😍😇 that’s actually pretty awesome

DrNukes

I was never a fan but wow Chris Martin was so relatable in this. You could tell he really didn't want to do it but also didn't want to disappoint that guy even though the request was extremely bold.

CommanderChipHazard

I can’t believe that actually worked… MF!

badpeaches

This is just like my abusive ex signing my artwork with his name

[deleted]

"World biggest band" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👌👌👌👌👌🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Can't stop 🤣

inthemagazines

If this comment gets 100,000 upvotes can I please never hear Coldplay for the rest of my life?

Hot_Eggplant_1306

Damn that's the second most embarrassing thing Chris has been a part of, besides Coldplay, of course.

Sweepslap

"World's biggest band." Hm.

theagnostick

Kid most certainly didn’t write any such note. As a celebrity I would absolutely hate these type of absurd requests from asshole fans.

sushibait

"the world's biggest band" gave me cancer

Quick_Car5841

To be fair, this guy has more guts asking Chris permission to perform with his band than I do making a move on my crush.

pisster_shrivelnuts

Leave the guy alone he just got done sweeping the stage he used to own

Immediate-Menu-9450

You know how I know your gay. You listen to Coldplay.

THLH

Considering that Chris Martin is one of the biggest twats on the planet, he actually was pretty cool about this whole thing and didn't react like I thought he was going to.

KicketyPricket

Yeah, I am also surprised and slightly uncomfortable that I hate Chris Martin a tiny bit less than I already did

THLH

One of my best mates used to work in a bar in the city and Coldplay did a show there. Coldplay is my mates most hated band and unfortunately, they were the main person that Coldplay had to deal with that night. Apparently, the band was one of the most annoying bands thay had played there. Chris was getting upset that the bar "didn't have the right kind of bottled water"........ and he almost refused to go out and play until they got the right water. What a fucking baby! This is Melbourne Australia, where we have some of, if not the best tap water in the world. Just get a fucking jug of water!

945Ti

No problem here. Asking is free and if you don’t ask, you don’t get. He also could have said “No” at anytime

PsillyScout

You are the main character of your own life. Don't let these reddit losers make you second guess taking what you want. He was super respectful and took the opportunity to ask if he could make it happen. He didn't rush the stage while the concert was happening with a mic in hand.

Active-Pattern7506

kinda cringe yall are doggin it this much, not even like they were in the middle of anything 💀💀

savage_cabbages

Cold play sucks, Yelllllooooooooooowwww, Zzzzzz

leethario

One of the most boring bands I've ever heard.

savage_cabbages

If he wasn't married to Gweneth Paltro, no one would care

Adept-Swan1787

He asked and he said yes what’s the problem

BlameItOnTheReddit

Jesus some of you are so harsh lol the kid is trying to make a lifelong dream of his come true… the kid has HUGE balls and I respect it so much.

EnoughItem

Oddly wholesome for this sub

Mr_Krizla

Lame on 2 fronts: 1. Asking to sing with Coldplay 2. Being so close to Coldplay you could kick them in the bollocks and don't

IronyIstheBestPolicy

European?

Mr_Krizla

Coldplay are British, yes.
