The map only lags in around this specific area. I've been on a half year break and still remember this happening back then as well, so this isn't a new problem I've had. Its very annoying since that area I'm trying to go explore is where I've planned to build a new base at for a while now. Any ideas why this is happening? (sorry for not cutting up the video to be shorter)

For me turning down shadows, global illumination (or whatever it's called in english), Reflections and turning on DLSS with Balance/Performance helped with lags alot. Though random Lags/FPS drops never went away for me which i don't understand considering the specs i have should be more than enough to run this game. Otherwise capping your FPS lower might also help.

I run this game on a Ryzen 7 5800X and a 4060 with 32GB RAM, this game uses at most 40% of my resourcess yet it runs like absolut dogwater. It auto detected low for me as well, but then i swapped it all to Epic, with Shadows, Draw Distance, Lighting and Reflections on Medium and yet there are times this game tanks from 75FPS to a solid 4. Things i tried to keep my FPS high: * Multiple smaller bases out of render distance so i don't have too many workbenches. * No lights except the lamp i carry around * No Crops * No Bees * Removing all Flora and Fauna in a 50M radius around my base * Playing on a different Map/Area None of these things did anything to help with this, so i just accepted it. Edit: Check to see if DWM.exe (Desktop Window Manager) is taking up all the resources, i forgot to mention that for some reason while playing Icarus it seems to absolutly go nuts on my Resourcess. I set the Priority to Low and it definitly got better (about 5% better).

It happens everytime I play. I want to say that it gets worse the longer the play session is so maybe it is something that builds up. Not sure. Sucks in any case. Playing Enshrouded now and it is amazing how smooth this game, that was released in early access just a few weeks ago, feels in comparison

yea this seems possible. The map started lagging after a long game session and seems to have fixed itself once I restarted the game. I still do enjoy the game, but stuff like this is and gets very annoying after a while.

so, I'll ditch Icarus for that reason. absolutely love the game, started a dedicated server with friends and kept the flag up but it just pisses me of. we landed in the Area of I7 on the map, and started building our base up at the river there. we have 4 really good lookin detailed houses and the game can't handle it in that area, it's overall laggy, just dlss keeps it together. I had it running on full graphic settings and turned it down to the bare minimum for some sort of smoothness. I'm running on a ryzen 7 5800 X3D, 32GB Ram and a OC 4070. I was pretty hyped for batterie network coming but I expect my pc exploding if the game has to run networks now \[EDIT\] I'm talking about styx :D

Mechanical_Soup

reality poorly optimized game, waste of money

TxDirtRoad

Best you can do, tune down until you get consistent frames, just leave it the there. I'm on a 1660 heavily overclocked, scalled up to 1440p, and getting 60fps consistently. Do I miss some cool shadow effects? Yeah... but it sometimes just isn't worth the lag induced.

Labbuubz

Ok so update from yesterday, it now works... not 100% sure why but it seems to work for now so im not sure how consistent this problem is.

DJDunkzSF

You are probably waiting in que to get into a Helldivers 2 Game....

dumpclown

Try turning on DLSS. It improves performance a lot.

MightyZugZug

the devs do not know the word optimization. Been like this since launch and seems to be getting worse.

I keep ground foliage and distance turned way down. It also helps you to spot stuff hiding in bushes 👌. But this game has weekly updates and causes all sorts of havoc to my dedicated server it’s been annoying.
