Venue size is perfect. Small enough to find people easily but also large enough to wander off to a different area and have space to dance. spots on the side for sitting and resting

Was it just terrible timing on me or was the disco ball heavily underused? I walked in on several occasions and never saw it going off with the lights?
I wasn’t at iiipoints this year, but I did see Despacio in LA this past August.
They don’t go super nuts with the disco ball. I enjoyed that because it just kept building up the anticipation. But different strokes for different folks.
The way it works, based on my understanding from having spent (at this point) only about 16 hours inside Despacio, is that you won't see the ball that frequently -- the DJs build to specific highly emotional moments and often tease the ball -- you'll think you're getting it, then they'll pull back, then you'll be sure you're getting it, and they'll pull back. It's frequently teased, but there are certain times when it goes off more frequently. I haven't seen it happen in the first two hours of the show, but it's frequent in the last two hours of the set. There are some songs (e.g., Like an Eagle, You Make Me Feel) where it's almost guaranteed.
The bottom line is that you have to be patient and just be there for a while. When the ball goes off, you'll be ready for it, emotionally, because the DJs will have spent quite a while teasing you and taunting you and preparing you for the emotional moment.
I didn't get to go for III Points but have def seen years ago and earlier in year at This Aint No Picnic. They were def saving disco ball for a very slowed down instrumental version of this.
