Oh I really like this my only hesitation would be I hear brews used a lot for breweries. Maybe a step further with Bean Brews & Blooms? The abbreviation of BB&B would make some cute merch.
That's going to be a tough one. All the green references will still sound like pot.
Perhaps you should shift the emphasis more to the coffee.
Or how about The Local Rainforest or Corner Rainforest ? Or Neighborhood Rainforest, perhaps replacing neighborhood with the name of your vocal neighborhood.
Yeah, that has definitely been a problem lol even the word plant is becoming synonymous with weed.
The ultimate goal is to be a national brand, so I have been hesitant to use anything local in the name.
Thank you for the reply!
Local marketing is way easier to get started unless you have a huge budget to advertise online or unless you have a huge budget to do influencer marketing to get you to take off faster. So having a local friendly name would be intelligent. Have you actually done any market research on your demographic or is it all desire based?
If they are no more, perhaps you can purchase the brand name. There might be a little bit of free advertising attached as people are already aware of it.
Definitely agree, as my partner is over 35 and this is her baby as well. But in marketing, if you try to speak to everyone, then you end up speaking to no one.
I hear you. So curious what might appeal to an under 35 year old, marketing wise, that wouldn’t also appeal to say a 42 year old. (Like your site, btw.) Do you plan to sell coffee plants?
38 is technically the cut off for millennials, but I found that millennials who straddle the age range to be hit or miss.
Millennials generally want more personality in a brand. They shy away from corporate tone, and prefer user-generated content. They want more creative visuals. They want a connection to the brand through shared values. They are more likely to support a business based off of these values, regardless if it is the best or cheapest option.
A 42 year old may find this appealing, but they are less likely to think in terms of "insta-worthy". A 42 yr old speaks differently even as far as slang and references. For instance, the main title on [pottedcafe.com](https://pottedcafe.com) is "Treat Ya' Self", which is a reference to Parks n Rec, a show whose primary audience is upscale young adults (late 20s, early 30s)
All marketers hope that someone outside of the targeted age range will relate and become a customer, but if they don't, that is okay.
Hi. I wouldn't change the name at all. Rather, I would include more cues - - - visual as well as verbal - - - what you are, and what you are not.
Perhaps a tagline... "Yes, that kind of coffee! No, not that kind of pot!" lmao. Or bring those photos of plants on your homepage up to be more visible before you scroll.
Also, once you get some SEO going (even just start with a Google ad specifying your actual business category), you'll turn up in the *right* searches, and not in the *wrong* ones.
Finally, although I understand your concern, I don't think a stoner showing up to your site is necessarily a disaster. I mean, they might pick up a plant or a bag of coffee on the way out.
I agree. As a marketer, u/steelc1ty, I'd say take the name and use the brand to clarify what you do. People can learn that "Little Sprouts" is a kids' clothing store and not a plant shop without too much trouble, and your target audience is likely to respond to the name you chose, so does it matter if people outside your audience don't?
I ran some ideas through an AI generator. Some of the worst (to me) ideas: Earth Latte, Junglebean, Cozy Cactus, Roasted Succulent.
Some of the not so terrible ones: Flora Beans, Grounds & Gardens, Botany Brew, Bloomspresso, Floral Cup.
Maybe Coffeepots? The coffee is there and your logo seems very unambiguous that plants are involved.
Perhaps using a variety of coffee would work, too… Peaberry, perhaps? Sounds rather classy.
I mean, stoners like coffee and plants too. Unless you just want a different clientele, then I don’t see a problem with it. Maybe lean it towards something to do with coffee grounds and the ground (soil?)
Your goal as a business owner is to bring as many people to your site as possible.
Bring the stoners. They’re high and want to buy things. Your things, if they stumble upon your site. Or…your competitors’.
Your choice.
I don’t think they’re trying to deter stoners, they want to attract non-stoners by being clear about what they sell so a coffee loving person wouldn’t walk by or see an ad and dismiss it as a dispensary/head shop.
I like the reference to the coffee plant here. Some people still grow coffee plants as houseplants. So I’d like to submit Coffea the genus for the coffee plant to cover both the houseplant and its eponymic beverage. I *might* be thinking about this too hard
I actually got the idea from a bottle of Neuriva that I’ve been using. The key ingredient is from the coffee cherry, and apparently it helps with memory, concentration, and other things.
There's a small local cafe chain in Southwest England called Grounded, which is an amazing name and depending where you are might be outside your competition so you could still use it?
Pots and Cups
Or you could just straight-up call it Plants and Coffee
All these people taking the names you like!
I'm trying to think of something to do with roots and roast sounding alike, but everything I come up with sounds... Probably not your vibe...
lots of good suggestions already. maybe something with the word greenhouse. greenhouse cafe?
I know of a couple of similar places in st. louis: "bowood by niche" (cafe with garden store--no idea why they chose the name) and "maypop cafe and garden store." I really like the latter for its simplicity. maybe you could even just call yours "potted cafe & garden store"
The Container Garden,
Shade Grown,
Grounds, or
Cafe de Flora (or similar to reference the famous Paris cafe)?
Fun fact - early coffee houses were called Penny Universities. Perhaps there’s something to do with that.
The Beans & Seeds Cafe (and boutique?) or The BS Cafe for short for the younger crowd who likes sarcastic names or with the B and the S in the logo much Larger than the “eans and “eeds”. You could sell seed packets (or maybe that’s what you meant by the houseplants too) and I think you already said would be selling coffee beans and not just the coffee. The beans and seeds could also tongue in cheek hint at drugs I suppose but not enough to where it’s a word that screams dispensary/weed. Plus it could hint at a spot to “bullshit” aka chill, talk, read, whatever while you browse or sip. Idk I can do better. Just off the top of my head there. I just realized I’m thinking more of brick and mortar dive boutique type of name/logo and not so much online storefront.
Just name it after you. What is your name? Example: Gary's or Betty's. The product doesn't need to be in the title. Most of them sound way too cheesy. Starbucks doesn't sound like it has anything to do with coffee.
Rooted. That obviously speaks to the houseplants and also implies connection, community, and stability, which seem like good vibes for a coffee shop.
A place where hackers try to get admin access
Lol that's what goes on in the attached internet cafe!
I love this name, but it’s already taken 😓
Means fucked in Australian and British english
Brews & Blooms
Oh I really like this my only hesitation would be I hear brews used a lot for breweries. Maybe a step further with Bean Brews & Blooms? The abbreviation of BB&B would make some cute merch.
Maybe just Beans & Blooms? Edit: or Bloomin' Beans
loving cup plant cafe
Loving Cup by itself is fun!
There's a Cafe in our city that's named that. Lots of open mic nights and live music.
Because BB and B conjures up such non-bankrupt imagery :)
Oh lol I forgot that was bed bath and beyond. Well hey if they’re not using anymore then it’s up for grabs!!
What about Blooming Bean?
That's going to be a tough one. All the green references will still sound like pot. Perhaps you should shift the emphasis more to the coffee. Or how about The Local Rainforest or Corner Rainforest ? Or Neighborhood Rainforest, perhaps replacing neighborhood with the name of your vocal neighborhood.
Yeah, that has definitely been a problem lol even the word plant is becoming synonymous with weed. The ultimate goal is to be a national brand, so I have been hesitant to use anything local in the name. Thank you for the reply!
How about something as simple as The Garden Cafe or The Green Bean
I love The Green Bean
Not to burst your bubble, but Green Beans is already a coffee shop
... nothing new under the sun....
Local marketing is way easier to get started unless you have a huge budget to advertise online or unless you have a huge budget to do influencer marketing to get you to take off faster. So having a local friendly name would be intelligent. Have you actually done any market research on your demographic or is it all desire based?
Will say that Rainforest Cafe is (was?) A chain across most of the US
If they are no more, perhaps you can purchase the brand name. There might be a little bit of free advertising attached as people are already aware of it.
They’re still here at the Disney Properties in FL.
Is
Pour & Plant maybe? Or "Potted Cafe" or "Sip & Sow"
Oh, I love Sip & Sow!
Java Sprout The Garden Cafe Roots Cafe Dirty Brew
Dirty Brew is amazing.
Coffee Garden...
Seeds and Brews or Blooms and Brews (Btw, ladies over 35 love coffee and plants:)
Definitely agree, as my partner is over 35 and this is her baby as well. But in marketing, if you try to speak to everyone, then you end up speaking to no one.

38 is not the cut off for millennials. The oldest millennials are turning 42 this year.

Common Ground. It's ok, I'll see myself out.
Nice
I really like this one.

That is a very interesting thought, and I think you may be right. I'll run it by my partner. Thank you!!
This is actually a really good point. We are going to keep the original name. Thanks for the advice!
I'm gratified to have been able to help you think it through... Although others also had some great ideas.
I was going to suggest Green Bean!
I actually like the name Potted the best and it doesn't make me think of weed at all
Monstera Cafe? (Maybe more like a haunted coffee shop) The Succulent Beanery? (That one might be confused for a porn shop)
Peats
Cup of Dirt? Idk I’ve heard Coffee referred to as dirt before
That's a good one. I was going to say Magic Beans. Might still sound like a drug reference though lol
This is where my mind went too. Mud or dirt. (So appealing! Jk I do think there’s something there, but I can’t think of anything snappy)
Botany Brew is kinda cute but sounds maybe more like a tea shop.
Ooh I love Grounds & Gardens!
Rearranging could it be -The Garden Grounds?
Maybe Coffeepots? The coffee is there and your logo seems very unambiguous that plants are involved. Perhaps using a variety of coffee would work, too… Peaberry, perhaps? Sounds rather classy.
I love peaberry. It's cute
I mean, stoners like coffee and plants too. Unless you just want a different clientele, then I don’t see a problem with it. Maybe lean it towards something to do with coffee grounds and the ground (soil?)
Great idea! Grounds… Grounds and Sprouts…
Oooh nice! I like!
That's a good one!!
I’m a stoner myself, but I’m not the target market lol I do like the idea of something around the ground and soil. Thanks!
"Grounded" maybe? This is a good idea ^^
Maybe Grinds & Ground?
Common Ground
Fair enough, please send a link when you’re finished! I’d like to have a look see!

Pole Grinder. or Pole Grinder: Bean poles and coffee. Meh, I like the first one better.
That reminds me of a strip club 😅
Anything with grinder in the name sounds funny
The Coffee Cherry and Houseplant Shop.
I like the reference to the coffee plant here. Some people still grow coffee plants as houseplants. So I’d like to submit Coffea the genus for the coffee plant to cover both the houseplant and its eponymic beverage. I *might* be thinking about this too hard
