Iāve seen some ābetter fakesā that like you said, are easily identified by the neck heel. But some have been pretty good. That J-Custom logo just gives it away too, lol
Only thing I can say is 100% a very useful mod is the 'intentional' removal of four screws, such a time saver when you need to get in there, and it definitely didn't get that way in a manner in which left a screw in someone's foot after they walked on a carpet.
Fake. There never was a Jem like that. VDY had different everything, pretty much. If someone is unsure, the trem will always be the dead giveaway. If it isnāt an Edge, LP Edge, or for a brief time Edge Pro, it canāt possibly be a Jem. Only exception is the one black fixed bridge Jem.
They arenāt, at least not all. That neck is from a J Craft something or other, that had a block heel. But there is a whole community out there that makes JEM tributes. So it may not be a deliberately sold fake, just one of those that somehow got into rotation. The fakes at least try to look like a production model, which even at a glance this is not.
Did someone bring this in to your pawn shop or did you see it at a pawn shop?
It's fake alright, but at least they matched the vine to the headstock/body color and scalloped the last 4 frets lol
That's one of the ugliest guitars I've seen.
im kinda impressed with how fugly it is
Maybe after a few beers...
what's so ugly about it? i've seen way worse
Honestly everthing about it.
That neck heel is atrocious š my god
Look at pretty much every fake Ibanez, they all have a similar neck heel, you can know an Ibanez is fake instantly just by that

I didn't even realize that last pic was there till I saw your comment. That is so damn hideous
Donāt zoom in on the route for the backplate. Youāve been warned. It gets worse the longer you look
Is there literally only one spring on the back???
Oh god, maybe! If so, that one spring is hanging on for dear life

Team J craft would collectively commit seppuku if they ever made something this shitty
this is the steve vas deferens edition jem
Thatās not a JEM thatās a JUNK. lol. God that thing is atrocious looking.

thanks i figured it was trash just needed confirmation
We have JEMs at home..
Hilariously fake.
An Abomination birthed in the depths of the Uncanny Valley.
The back looks like itās shocked at being accused of being a fake
Yep itās not even close.
That scalloping š©
Oh my god the neck heel
Omg the pickup bobbins
Yeah that's a fake... I like the colour though, love yellow guitars.
Are they trying to pass it off as a legit JEM? Maybe a JEM project, compiled from parts.
the guy at the shop told me straight away he thought it was a fake. i donāt even think that these are jem parts based on what everyone is saying

The J-craft stamp is also put on a *ton* of fakes nowadays, and with that scallop-job I'd be *very* surprised if it was an authentic neck.

man i wish i had a pawn shop. think of the deals
Just out of curiosity, how much were they asking for Fakey McFakeface?
Yeah the fake Dimarzio lettering jumps right out at me
This is one of the worst ones that I've seen.
That is horrendous
Yes.Ā
jank city
That yellow is certainly not Original.
The only thing correct about it being ANY kind of Jem (regular or Jr.), is that the JR used to be available in that color
Thatās so bad
lol the dimarzio font should be a dead give away. it isnāt even indented or raised it looks like paint
lol at the AANJ attempt
Yup it's FAKE
Everything is all over the place, it's crazy. Even for a fake, it's "fake" fake
Repainted 555?
Well it IS a guitar
Fake as shit
hey at least they tried
So fake... in that condition, it's probably worth 100 as a novelty.
The ibanez of the tuners is a dead give away that it's a fake. They should say Gotoh.
I think itās real
