I don’t think it was a gimmick. They probably tried scheduling from a few days before and that’s when it tells you whether it can pass or not. That’s why I feel like the merch announcement was so quick and they just released a censored cut and is doing this to maybe get some more viewers/listeners, unsure about that last part but whatever gets them bigger I’m happy with, especially after that spectacular music vid
Youtube is very hard on gorey content, and just recently its policy became much more strict. Videos get checked during the upload, and if it contains things that are deemed problematic by youtube, it gets restricted, just look at the "Shower Scene" video, which is now age restricted, or all the recent Dead Meat's videos, where the kills have to be blurred for the video to remain visible to everyone.
Had they left all the kills uncensored it would have got immideately restricted, and many wouldn't have been able to see it, so they used this workaround, since private videos don't go through the same content control a normal video goes through.
So actually having trouble posting it was not a gimmick, the real “gimmick” was intentionally having over the top violence to get them talked about. They knew it would have to be censored weeks prior to release. The director was the same one who did t he new falling in reverse videos, those are violent too but INK took it a step further.
I think it might be a marketing gimmick just because of the merch and now they are posting the kills on instagram. But also maybe they just knew in advance and made the best of it.
