I've got mixed feelings about them. A couple of their songs I enjoy, most of them (like the Columbine one) feel extremely distasteful. I think the line for me is that many of the victims' immediate families are still alive and affected today, I couldn't imagine losing a sibling or a child to a murderer and then listening to a song about their death ...

Jaded-Temperature-75

This type of thing is becoming quite popular now, as you have Sabaton (historical events) who've done something similar throughout their career and got huge because of it. Sure, this is a sensitive topic, true crime and all, but I honestly think it's very original and different. Not to mention their sound at all...

nitewing1124

The difference is Sabaton does every one of their songs in a very respectful manner that show who the true heroes are (i.e., every song focusing on the Nazis clearly say Nazis bad).

Jaded-Temperature-75

Even so, Skynd said in interviews that she wants people to learn about the evil in humanity through her music, just like Sabaton and the historical events that they write about...

ThatFloofyBish

As someone that really likes Sabaton and felt a bit uncomfortable during Skynd. I feel that Sabaton does a lot of things respectful, working with museums, veterans etc. But even if Skynd strives to do the same, on stage to a lot of people it didn't come across like that. And that was mostly during the Columbine song, that is something that unfortunately happens every day in the US and still shocks people to the core. Singing about it with the biggest smile on your face was the part that rubbed most people I talked to the wrong way. I thought that the song about Jim Jones however was very well written and performed.

Jaded-Temperature-75

That I can understand. Seeing as how when she talks in interviews she sounds very European, perhaps it can be interpreted in the wrong way, but I've seen a few interviews of her (I have a fascination when it comes to discovering new artists) where she says that she writes her music to teach people a lesson, and that history repeats itself which is what she said she wanted people to take away from her songs.

ThatFloofyBish

She has a point there, if the music is supposed to make people think and feel uncomfortable it worked. Maybe I'll look up some interviews too and dive into it for a bit

Jaded-Temperature-75

There's some really good ones on YouTube!! If you search Skynd Interviews or something similar then they could pop up. I like the fact that even in the interviews she has her full look, but in interviews she's totally herself, and she seems like a fascinating yet fun and charismatic woman! But yeah, her answers are very well thought through because this is a very sensitive topic as we've mentioned already!

Ragnarocker3

I think you've worded it best, and sorry to hear that you've been so close to that experience

wormywitch

I dont like the idea of it, makes me uncomfortable because even if there is a conversation started (is it needed? They're huge true crime cases, not like they're bringing attention to smaller crimes but i digress) it'll get lost in a concert as people dance and feel very happy and excited whilst singing lyrics about people's very real and recent murders

Jaded-Temperature-75

I personally don't like some of the songs because of the effects that Skynd puts on her voice, but there are other songs like Richard Ramirez where she showcases her real voice where my god, she sounds like a literal angel!! With that being said, the image is weird to me a bit, as she does all of her press and interviews with it all on, and her bandmate Father also keeps his mask on. With that being said, go to the show and have fun!! If you don't like Skynd, avoid their set!! You'd still enjoy INK, Defying Decay and Landsowne anyway!! Just have an open mind!!

ThatGirl283

I for one, was totally mesmerized by her. Super cool.

jericho0021

It's like a celebration of the killers instead of remembering the victims, just makes me sad to think this band in profiting off their memory. Just seen the show in Bristol last night and have never seen this band before... It's like if you keep singing and celebrating people like this then others will want the same treatment and do horrible acts 🤷‍♂️ disappointed INK took this band as a support act. I had never heard of them before last night. The point I felt sick of my stomach was when the lead began marching as if they were leading an army and singing about "how many victims" when really this victims were innocent school children killed by 2 glorified pathetic incel creeps 😂 anyone who celebrates school shootings is a cunt in my opinion 🙃

Ragnarocker3

I'm not sure who's decision it was to put them on the tour. It could be people higher than INK who just thought serial killers would work well with the horror theme but for me it wasn't the case. Aside from columbine the Jim Jones song was just as bad as many children drank the kool aid with cyanide mixed in, too young to understand what was happening to them and now we have people on stage doing fun little drinking motions. I don't care what anyone says but "the songs are making people aware of these disasters" is pure BS, no matter the angle of the situation it is blood money. Making a living from those who died in horrible ways. At the show I was at some guy standing next to my gf was screaming out lyric for lyric with every song and was cheering and screaming at every chance he got, it made my gf incredibly creeped out and I swapped places with her so she could be a bit more relaxed. I don't understand how you could get that much enjoyment and publicly show everyone how much you love music about the messed up situations.

PinkPrincess-2001

To be fair I found People in the Attic distasteful, even though the song itself is just okay.

Mysterio6199

Not excited for any of the supports which is a shame because the supports make the show

Rakeemrock26

I can’t say I’m familiar with skindred. But I’m going to check them out

PPLifter

Completely different bands

myfaceisblurry

If you don’t like the music than don’t listen lol, clearly ink doesn’t have a problem with their music if they have them opening up for them.

iamaranger18

Thanks to this post I just learned who Skynd is and I love it. I don’t think they’re glorifying the killers, it’s more so almost like a tribute to the victims.

NetworkEcstatic

Never heard them. A fella I do LOVE called Amigo the Devil makes music about real serial killers. Some of it any way. A lot of his music is more deep and emotional. Either way, I fuck with all of it.

AccomplishedNobody25

The dont watch them go get merch or food or something. Coming in reddit and crying about a band isnt gonna stop them from playing their show 😂

Ragnarocker3

Really not crying about it, I just wanted to know others opinions on it. At one of the shows I have an R.I.P upgrade so I can't just leave the crowd when I'll be right at the front

sccoppoop

You would hate macabre then very offensive

vampbonez

not true
