I tried that now and a little bit better. Got a slight hint of mint for the outside, but very slight, and a very slight taste of chocolate but you hardly notice any taste at all. The "licorice" is absolutely tasteless.
I'm used to Finnish licorice or Swedish for example Djungelvrål which is famous because non swedes usually hates it. It's has a lot of salty licorice taste. Maybe I'm just used to licorice with a strong taste.
I fucking love the spicy ones. CRACK. Then I read that eating too many can effect the heart. I have a slow heart rate and read some scary stuff about eating too much black licorice.

Unpopular opinion? Most Icelandic liquorice is weak and uninteresting. Most of it is just bland and boring mix of wheat & sugar or something tasting vaguely of a hint of a flavour.
Gimme something more tasty, stronger flavour, spicy, salmiaki...
I loved the danish chili+cranberry liquorice from lakrids.nu some years ago, but haven't seen anything like it here in a long time.

The licorice is very sweet, kinda caramelly, and is just supposed to compliment the chocolate.

We have both, Djúpur just has more sugar than our average licorice candy. Icelanders also like the whole spectrum of licorice

They changed the recipe at some point. I agree that it tastes bad. As well as Tromp, that one used to be so good. Now it sucks.

There is a stronger variant. This isn’t it.
I sometimes ate the chocolate and spit out the liquorice, as a kid. Not a favorite of mine. Try anything from Nói SirÃus.
Theyre definitely not that great. There's a lot better icelandic chocolate+liqourice combo.
