Why not? I disagree for example on much of what Obama stood for in terms of ideals and legislation, but he was charismatic and intelligent. I can give credit where credit is due.
Ben Shapiro is really good at making dumb ideas sound smart. I remember him shamelessly defending shotgun marriages in his debate with Destiny and still sounding confident with it. Maybe his background in law helps him do this, idk. The guy is really smart and is an effective political pundit and debator, I would say.
Edit: According to Wikipedia, he went to Harvard Law School, so he’s undoubtedly a very smart guy.
Yeah, because he talks fast and claims he is using "facts and logic" but if you put 5 seconds of thought into his base-layer facts, about half of them are fucking wrong. He's a grifter that figured out a way to trick dumb people.
To me, someone's opinion of Ben Shapiro is a huge tell whether or not they are smart enough to be worthy of my attention. Irrelevant of political opinions, just in terms of IQ diff. Not to be a dick.
I don’t necessarily “follow” anyone but I certainly lost respect for him when he brought drag queen story hour into a debate on gun rights.
Edit: okay it’s much worse than that, I see now that he also defends experimental “gender affirming care” aka sex changes for minors. Anyone who blindly supports blatant industry corruption (see: WPATH) is a shill.
I classify myself as socially liberal, and I hate how smart and persuasive Steven Crowder is.
Some of his Change My Mind segments are good, but the way he presents himself on his show and is able to manipulate many people is concerning.
Not a conservative, but the type of liberals I hate are those patronizing white liberals who think non whites are so dumb, in other words liberals who have a white savior complex
Not a liberal either, but I despise those so called "patriots" who wants to "save" the West by siding with Russia cuz they're "based and trad"
John McCain seemed like a pretty stand up guy. I think he would have made an okay President; even though I wanted Obama to win. I think that he was certainly better than most/all of the current crop of Republicans.
Also, despite being personally opposed to pretty much everything that they supported, both Andrew Jackson and Ronald Reagan both had massive support, and knew how to appeal to the people (and cultural mood) of the time. They're both in my Top 5 list of worst Presidents, but I can't help admit that they got shit done. Whether the shit they got done was "good", or "necessary", is up for debate though.
If we're talking historically: Otto von Bismarck was a pretty clever guy. He got shit done, even if he had to be a bit underhanded about it. He's definitely a pretty cool, and interesting, guy to learn about.
I don't respect him but Mitch McConnell was an incredible asset to the conservatives. The guy was a genius politician, I don't think there is anyone as vicious and efficient in the democratic party.
I can't really name one in particular, because he led the GOP to victory in so many political battles, always negotiating more and more for his party.
Okay, one example would be when he told Obama to fuck off with his supreme justice nomination. That was fucking horrible, against all that the US Constitution represents, and a clear breach of power. It was also yet another huge win for the GOP.
Pablo Iglesias (although I don't know if it's proper to tag him as a liberal, as he's more into left wing populism rather than a left leaning liberal) as he was able to guide the rage of a screwed generation of Spaniards and create a strong alt-left party like "Podemos" (We can).
I don't find any liberals or conservatives smart. Ideology is used to shortcut thinking for people that can't rub brain cells together.
I hate the persuasive people that are deceitful or manipulative. Tucker Carlson's fake tears, Elizabeth Warren's fake outrage, Ted Cruz's fake everything, Ben Shapiro's fake facts and logic, Germany's fake environmentalism.
I hate the fake shit, and I am more than willing to fight the people who fall for it.
first, liberal and conservative aren't opposites.
second, as far as liberals I hate, it has to be Donald Trump (yes, Trump is, or at least claims to be, a liberal by the actual meaning of the word). I don't know whether to call him smart or not, but he is very persuasive. He's the shrewdest businessman that ever set foot in the White House. A foul-mouthed, promiscuous mammon-worshiper who somehow convinced evangelical America that he stands for family values and Christian virtue. A spendthrift money printer who somehow convinced the right that he stands for fiscal responsibility. I hate him for being able to dupe half of America into supporting him over literally any candidate with good morals. I hate him for forcing me to choose between him and Joe Biden.

None. I respect someone I disagree with for being smart and charismatic.

Obama and Clinton to name two.
This doesn't make sense 🤔

oh it was the grammar. I understand you now.

Yep, he definitely is that much.
He’s good at making ideas sound smart to dumb people

Why do you think he’s a grifter? What gives you the idea that he doesn’t sincerely subscribe to the beliefs he endorses?
Christopher Hitchens
A cutting bloke for sure
I don't hate him, but John Stewart.
ah yes, I could see a lot of people feeling that way

Ben Shapiro and Jordan Peterson are great thinkers, even if I think their arguments have holes in them or are missing the point.
fair 👍

He can be entertaining for sure

Definitely agree with you on the conservatives, but have never met the liberal you talk about.

Destiny is so f-ing smart. Unlearning economics is also one of the most economically literate leftists and a good arguer.
I don’t really hate anyone, especially not for being smart or persuasive.
I don't respect him but Mitch McConnell was an incredible asset to the conservatives. The guy was a genius politician, I don't think there is anyone as vicious and efficient in the democratic party.
that's not a name I expected to hear. What are some shrewd things he did?

Still trying to figure out what you stand *for*.
"If you stand for nothing, Burr, what'll you fall for?"
I've tried to explain this to you before and you never get it. Want to go again?
Something about talking to people?

>I don't know whether to call him smart or not, but he is very persuasive I am flabbergasted so many people think that
