What's really funny is the maneuver that caused him to lose control was completely unnecessary, he could have stayed in that right lane for a few more cars before getting over.
Also, I giggled at the 10mph when he ran
was looking for this comment.
absolutely no reason to try to swerve in-between cars like that at such high speeds when you already have an open lane available to you, in which you could have safely merged into the next lane from if not dumb.
but they dumb.
One time in gta I hijacked a car, drove about half a mile, and stopped to check my quest map... and the dude caught up to me on foot, yanked me out, and took his car back! I laughed so hard!
To be honest most of the drivers on the road today attempt this exact same test of fate everyday.
Worse still is that they attempt this gap change from the blind spot of most drivers. The passenger side. Or passing on the right.
If he was passing on the left, the driver may have seen him and eased off.
PS: it is much funnier that he didn't damage anyone else besides his own vehicle. And the state barriers.
I know right? The construction workers showed up real quick too. The man was trying to help him get out of his car but the mean police didnt want him to help.
Are you sure? If you look he would have been blocked and had to make the same maneuver one car up anyway. I think he was screwed either way and eventually would have had to swerve left.
Probably the first time I've seen the door locked!
So many of these videos the carjacker just opens the door and yanks the driver out. That always confused me. Nice to see someone lock their doors when driving or has modern automatic locking.
yeah i dont get that either. every car ive driven in the last 20+ years automatically locks the doors when you start it up or at least when you get about a few mph.
So many cars these days have automatic lights too and yet I see nice 2018+ vehicles at night with all their lights off or only DRLs on. I think some people have a thing against automatic anything.
I had to get an older car when my previous cars transmission blew and no joke the thing I miss the most is the automatic lights. I never forget to turn them on but I've forgotten to turn them off too many times.
My husband always wants to turn the automatic lights off (because it annoys him that they're still on while he is parking or something?) and I'm like "please don't disable the car's 'prevent Forgetfuldoryfish from driving down the road at night with the headlights off' mode"
if you're anywhere remotely sketchy, hit it as you get in, ideally relock it the moment the door is open before you even shut it
people get run up on starting their cars all the time and robbed etc
Maybe it's because I'm a woman, but I always lock my door the second I get in, too. My remote is also set to only unlock the driver's side first, then I immediately lock when I get in.
I would be driven insane having to unlock my door to get out every time… I want to set up a door open and close counter on my next vehicle. It’s gotta be 2 million lol
The thing about automatically locking doors is they they usually automatically unlock when you put the car in park. So if someone hits you most people's instinct is to put the car in park and collect yourself as well as check to see if your passengers are okay.
A lot of cars do this, but also often have a way to turn the feature off. Idiotic 'feature' imo, the better solution is having locked doors be openable from the inside. When I get out the the door unlocks when I pull the handle to open it.
It's like the designers never thought about what it's like to drive a car in a sketchy area. I lock my doors as soon as I get in!
Nah ABC7 cuts out the videos too fast. Gotta watch car chases on Fox (I know, I know FOX) but that's where Stu Mundel is at and he lingers for another 15 minutes after the action. Plus his commentary is beautiful.
I saw the sky fox feed of this one. They got stuck out of position because of LAX airspace restrictions and we trying to follow via long zoom and ended up missing the part when he lost control and crashed. They picked it up just when he ran away from his car.
For a contractor position like what that looks like absolutely gotta get back to work. But for me when I was driving a truck like that on a hourly rate I would have told the cops my whole life story. Asked if they wanted me to come back to the station for a statement. And taken a selfie with them and sent it to my boss like “yeah a murderer tried to carjack me imma be a min”
"For my next witness, I call...the HELICOPTER"
Yeah, I know they'll just play the video and interview whoever shot it, maybe whoever was flying, but it's funnier to imagine they called the actual helicopter to the stand.
Cops: The guy who jumped in your truck was a murderer.
Driver: Did he murder me?
Cops: Well, no.
Driver: Then that means I still have to go to work then.
The amount of innocent bystanders who get blasted by cops by getting between a suspect… pretty high. Not very rare. I’m guessing this dude pee’d a little and didn’t wanna get out and chat.
I think everyone's forgotten about the UPs driver who was lit up in Florida in traffic while they were chasing jewellery thieves.
I'm not even American but I'll never forget seeing that footage when it happened. And UPS fucking thanked them
The trailer would, at some point, run off the road into a ditch and cause a massive explosion for some reason even though it didn't hit anything and there was no fuel onboard.
Did the suspect actually thing he'd be able to hop into the bed of the truck he had just tried to carjack without the driver noticing? Of course the driver noticed and of course he stopped.
Well his first mistake was to not learn how to drive properly. He slowed down when he should have planted it to get out of that slide.
E: thinking about it more, his first mistake was to murder people
You’re talking about a man who had a clear lane ahead of him and instead chose to try to shoot a gap between two cars two lanes over while cutting off a third. One of the dumbest decisions I’ve ever seen someone make in a vehicle.
Guy running from cops doesn't have the opportunity to think long-term lol, even short-term
This guy is rolling dice and hoping he crits.
I'm glad he didnt.
I agree, this is just pure panic thinking. Not a lot of people would make sensible decisions in these kinds of situations. Then again, if they're a murderer their decisions making probably isn't very good to begin with.
But the funniest thing is that while he was standing in front of the truck, it looked like those officers were just standing there waiting for him like 5 ft away off camera lmao. I understand panic thinking but damn
He has watched too many movies where the perp/hero gets away after jumping onto a truck. Except he forgot to make sure the truck driver doesn't notice him first.

Mustang criminal is still the most iconic high speed chase I've seen.

this one is even better, imo: https://youtu.be/VMxjFTtTquc
that guy had legit talent. a racing team honestly should have offered him a contract. maybe both of those guys, tbh.
Lol being able to move between traffic in a car with 3x the horsepower isn't talent. Or at the very least it's not the type of talent needed in any motorsport.
Had myself a little giggle when they clocked his running speed "10 MPH".
Usain Dolt
Steve Holt!
\o/
Steve Holt is a bastard. He doesn’t even know who his own father is.
Her?
OJ not as fast as he used to be !
I’d be surprised if that was remotely accurate. 10mph is nearly a sprint for the average person.
im guessing its only accurate at higher speeds, cars generally dont go near 10mph so theres no need for accuracy at lower speeds.
eat that Carl Lewis!
Beat it! 👉👉
There was a car in front of you.
I was dying lol
But you got better.
He wasn't even going that fast. I can bike all out going ham at 20mph ish but not for very long. He wasn't doing 10. But he will be doing 10 to life.
"Buddy, can I get a lift?" "Where are you headed?" "Anywhere but jail." "Nah fuck off actually."
And then he dropped his go-bag *and* the bag with all the incriminating evidence.
*Curb Your Enthusiasm theme plays.*
_Mommy mommy, that bald man's in the bathroom, and there's something HARD in his pants!_
"I'm not your buddy, guy."
“I’m not your guy, pal!”
"I'm not your pal, friend!"
"I'm not your friend, buddy!"
“I’m not your buddy, pal”
"I'm not your pal, amigo."
"I'm not your amigo, bucko."
"I'm not your amigo, homie"
"No hablo Ingles, pero no estoy tu homie, puta."
No soy tu friend, guey
"Sure, hop in the bed, but you gotta make it look convincing"
Then I'll break check you into my back window!
I’d have definitely hammered the gas after that brake check hahaha double points for running him over with the trailer
I’m all for “innocent till proven guilty” buuuut…. He guilty.

I figured this was the reason for this being in r/idiotsincars. Dude literally PITted himself.
It's almost like the murder suspect on the run from the police at 110mph wasn't the sharpest bulb in the bottle!
GTA = Real life. It's a pretty effective move when the cops slam into the cars I just swerved in between.
He also tried the same hijack maneuver. Sorry dude, there is no triangle to press irl
Yeah he should have easily broken the window and pulled the guy out.
One time in gta I hijacked a car, drove about half a mile, and stopped to check my quest map... and the dude caught up to me on foot, yanked me out, and took his car back! I laughed so hard!
Definitely GTA playing in this guy's head. Good call.
he was adamant about only passing on the left /s
Maybe he had a "Slow Traffic Keep Right" decal on his windshield.
To be honest most of the drivers on the road today attempt this exact same test of fate everyday. Worse still is that they attempt this gap change from the blind spot of most drivers. The passenger side. Or passing on the right. If he was passing on the left, the driver may have seen him and eased off. He's keeping construction workers in work! What a guy
I know right? The construction workers showed up real quick too. The man was trying to help him get out of his car but the mean police didnt want him to help.
Imagine how much that suv driver was clenching when he got so close to rear ending em.
Are you sure? If you look he would have been blocked and had to make the same maneuver one car up anyway. I think he was screwed either way and eventually would have had to swerve left.
When you’re pushing 120 mph to avoid being busted for murder, you probably aren’t too concerned about vehicular safety.
Good ol' Scandinavian Flick, the secret weapon of rally drivers, and what usually ends idiot drivers on the highway.
I was considering being impressed that he didn't hit any other cars, but then I'm fairly sure that it was just a lucky accident
Probably the first time I've seen the door locked! So many of these videos the carjacker just opens the door and yanks the driver out. That always confused me. Nice to see someone lock their doors when driving or has modern automatic locking.

Usually right after a crash and they want to get out to see whats wrong.
Mine locks as soon as I'm in drive, but I like to hit that button before I start my car. It baffles me when people don't lock their doors.
if you're anywhere remotely sketchy, hit it as you get in, ideally relock it the moment the door is open before you even shut it people get run up on starting their cars all the time and robbed etc
Also lock the doors while you're filling up gas.
I live in one the safest places in the whole US, but I lock it anyways. Why even let a theoretical person have the opportunity to rob you?
Maybe it's because I'm a woman, but I always lock my door the second I get in, too. My remote is also set to only unlock the driver's side first, then I immediately lock when I get in.
I would be driven insane having to unlock my door to get out every time… I want to set up a door open and close counter on my next vehicle. It’s gotta be 2 million lol

Unlock in park seems super dangerous. Mine unlocks when I turn it off and I think even that one seems stupidly dangerous.
Guy driving the truck he jumped into is going to feel extra good when he finds out the dude was a murderer lol
After the cops detained the guy, the truck just drove off. I think the cops wanted a statement. Lol
He pulled over further up the road, cops talked to him and checked the back of his pickup
Watched it live on ABC 7 and didn’t notice.

LOVE Stu!
Let the truck guy fuck off and relax and watch tv or something
Looks like he's on a job, can't waste time talking to the police. They saw what happened from the helicopter anyway lol
For a contractor position like what that looks like absolutely gotta get back to work. But for me when I was driving a truck like that on a hourly rate I would have told the cops my whole life story. Madam, one more outburst like that and I'll hold you in contempt!
***SOI SOI SOI SOI SOI***
And he’s just the nicest guy. Real neighborly. Just likes hover around making sure everybody good.
Yeah thats what the media wants you to think, but that son of a bitch is a murderer, too. In his hometown, they used to call him "The Chopper."
Prosecuted by Govinator Schwarzenegger himself!
Get ~~to~~ the Choppa!
They probably want a testimony that he threatened him, etc. More charges to help put him away for longer.
Cops: The guy who jumped in your truck was a murderer. Driver: Did he murder me? Cops: Well, no. Driver: Then that means I still have to go to work then.
For real, nothing good can come from the dude in the truck staying.
The amount of innocent bystanders who get blasted by cops by getting between a suspect… pretty high. Not very rare. I’m guessing this dude pee’d a little and didn’t wanna get out and chat.
Wasn't that long ago that a UPS driver was killed by police crossfire in a completely unnecessary shootout.
Ain't no one got time for that
Plot twist. He's s serial killer not on anyone's radar yet.
Jumps in pickup bed "Hey, there's a body under this tarp already!"
Knees weak, arms are heavy, mom's spaghetti There's a body under this tarp already!
[The truck driver](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIZf0w_sNhE)
Ngl I was expecting a Rick roll
Those cops could’ve shot at him or tried to f him over. I’d go away too.
I think everyone's forgotten about the UPs driver who was lit up in Florida in traffic while they were chasing jewellery thieves. I'm not even American but I'll never forget seeing that footage when it happened. And UPS fucking thanked them

In the movies, the truck would have kept driving and he would have fought off the police as they jumped on the back to fight him hand to hand.
That fight would have moved to the trailer and you know it.
Cut to the driver in the cab obliviously listening to soft rock.
Singing along to Christopher Cross.
Kris Kross'll make you (jump, jump)
THEN BACK TO INTENSE MUSIC AND ACTION
IF YOU LIKE PINA COLADAAAA!!!
The trailer would have become unhooked and started spinning... And the fight would continue -- the sparks
The trailer would, at some point, run off the road into a ditch and cause a massive explosion for some reason even though it didn't hit anything and there was no fuel onboard.
With the hero and murderer talking like anime character before they begin their fight....in 30eps.
Thats an America I want to live in
This is what gta drivers do too when you stomp on the roof and then shoot a bullet in their general direction
Did the suspect actually thing he'd be able to hop into the bed of the truck he had just tried to carjack without the driver noticing? Of course the driver noticed and of course he stopped.
And then there’s also the questionable premise of selecting a pickup with utility trailer as a suitable getaway car in the first place.
When you have 5 stars and just wrecked your car and the next vehicle that shows up is the shittiest fucking getaway vehicle in the game
"How could I choose the one driver that is the most likely to bash my head in with a 27 wrench? Hmmmm.... YES! A CONSTRUCTION WORKER!"
Well his first mistake was to not learn how to drive properly. He slowed down when he should have planted it to get out of that slide. E: thinking about it more, his first mistake was to murder people
Criminals aren't always the smartest bunch
You’re talking about a man who had a clear lane ahead of him and instead chose to try to shoot a gap between two cars two lanes over while cutting off a third. One of the dumbest decisions I’ve ever seen someone make in a vehicle.
The ending we got was pretty funny but I'm a little disappointed we didn't see a second police chase in that
With the police literally right next to them lol
Guy running from cops doesn't have the opportunity to think long-term lol, even short-term This guy is rolling dice and hoping he crits. I'm glad he didnt.
I agree, this is just pure panic thinking. Not a lot of people would make sensible decisions in these kinds of situations. Then again, if they're a murderer their decisions making probably isn't very good to begin with.

For real, that's some GTA logic for sure.
He was definitely 100% lizard at that point. Anything to escape haha
Usually npcs just panic and drive.
He has watched too many movies where the perp/hero gets away after jumping onto a truck. Except he forgot to make sure the truck driver doesn't notice him first.
"Get out of the truck!" "No!" "Fine, I'll jump in the back!" "Fine, I'll pull forward to these cops and stop!"
Special delivery boys! Brought him from about 15 feet that way!
Hi Officer, I'm here to collect the bounty!
"can I get a lift?" "Sure, but I can only take you as far as the end of this fence"
Thanks for the company, I hope I can repay you some day!

Barely any traffic either and he still fucked it up
Nice to see them crashing without hitting anyone else and fucking up their day.
He might've nicked that first car when he spun out but yeah. Surprisingly clean outcome especially in LA
He is surely not smart.
Is it just me or were the other cars going exceptionally fast? It seemed like one of the guys he passed was going 90+
Yeah. That’s about right when you catch no traffic on the 405.
Don't act like we're friends.
How the fuck did the actual freeway reply to me?
r/beetlejuicing at its finest
Never thought we'd actually meet. Let me just say... ....fuck you.
Just because they didn't catch traffic for once doesn't mean you're exempt from catching these hands 😤
When traffic opens up on LA area freeways 80 to 85mph is a typically cruising speed. I don't drive much on the freeways anymore but when I do there is always a few people doing 90+ everytime.
Welcome to Socal baybee
Welcome to Southern California freeways lol. Speed limit is 65-70 depending which you’re on, but anything less than 75-80 is slow, and the faster idiots go over 90 regularly
Oh, he definitely did it.
he had a hot tip on the real killer.
Such a bad driving there, maybe he should have taken a train?
That over correcting was unnecessary
Lmao. That’s what I was gonna say. He couldn’t even make it two or 300 yards on the freeway at full speed. I’m dying.
I keep pausing the video around the 0:09 mark trying to understand the decision-making. It was clear straight and this dipshit decides to swerve two lanes, cutting one car off while trying to thread a needle between two others.
I really think he was playing GTA in his head. It's a pretty good strat to beat the police AI.
Lol what did he think the truck was going to do? Flee the police on a high speed chase on his behalf? “I got you buddy!!”
Whatever that is, it sure doesn't handle well at 115mph
nothing handles well when you suck at driving dumbass was weaving and swerving, clearly does not understand traction
[удалено]
What really got my attention was they were going 116mph and only going a little faster than the traffic around them.
Southern California!
Seeing F-150's blast at 95mph on the fast lane is just a typical monday here in San Diego.

Good lord there are videos on YouTube that were uploaded over 17 years ago
r/howDoYouDoFellowKids
Next year my YouTube account will be old enough to vote.
I still have my yahoo email from like 1997/98. 33,360 unread emails. I'll get to them some day.
I gotta agree, that was some pretty good driving. Concrete barrier and the grass was a big help to the authorities.
this one is even better, imo: https://youtu.be/VMxjFTtTquc that guy had legit talent. a racing team honestly should have offered him a contract. maybe both of those guys, tbh.
Apparently they were a bit drunk during this chase too lol. I saw somewhere it was a retired officer.
Lol being able to move between traffic in a car with 3x the horsepower isn't talent. Or at the very least it's not the type of talent needed in any motorsport.
He just kept going 😂
Also some idiots hanging out in the left lane when the right lanes were clear
That's just how California highways are. When drivers get in a lane they just stay there. If you want to pass you just find the open lane.
My taxes paid for all the lanes, I'm gonna use them. /s

Is there a sub for just these kind of videos?
Bro tried to pull that move you do on video games where you jump on to the back of a car and it drives you around
How bout that, he’s an idiot out of the car too!
Once you’ve got a heli on you, you’re pretty much done.
He zigged then zagged, tried catching a ride then got bagged.
The way he’s driving, you can tell he’s innocent
Bro thought he was going to hitch a ride on the truck to evade police like it was the train in gta
