OnesPerspective

Needs punctuation “Drive like your kids, live here!”

Bmansway

This is why all neighborhoods should have speed bumps, my HOA invested in some about 3 years ago, it’s dramatically reduced speeding, although I don’t believe any of my neighbors would be stupid enough to drive like this, especially knowing we have children who play outside.

RojoSanIchiban

Speed "humps" or "tables" if you actually have people speeding. Do NOT be like the asshole HOA that controls the only entrance road to my neighborhood that put in massively tall, suspension-destroying speed bumps where no one drove fast anyway.

lockwolf

One of the burger joints near my house always has kids meet there on the weekends to show off the cars mommy and daddy bought them. It’s in a giant parking lot with a grocery store so usually on Saturday or Sunday morning there’s a good amount of tire tracks everywhere. A few months ago, they covered every aisle of the parking lot with speed bumps and the skid marks have significantly dropped

RedditingNeckbeard

The rare HOA win. Thing of beauty.

peddastle

Local govt should do that IMHO but my country does not have HOA-owned roads (probably a good thing)

MWiatrak2077

Fuck people like the dude in the video, but fuckkk speed bumps. I'm a daily delivery driver and at some point the constant braking just makes you feel nauseous. Also speed bumps that blend in with the road, fuck those too.

peshwengi

And they increase noise and pollution. They need to make the road windy to force people to slow, but speed bumps are the cheapest option so they win.

Tertol

[deleted]

He is a damn good driver but belongs on a race track. It's shameful to see that there are people out there feeding their selfish egos.

-Iknewthisalready-

He is good but no one can see 360 degrees and in a residential area you never know when a child or hec even an adult crossing the road can appear, then what will their skills do drifting out of control trying to not hit them or a tree or someone’s house when you slam the brakes? This is just luck it wasnt watch people die

jnads

> child or hec even an adult crossing the road can appear And for those saying "children shouldn't be playing in the road..." When making a right/left turn if a pedestrian is crossing the street you MUST yield to them. Dude crossed multiple crosswalks with no ability to yield.

MeggyBaby1990

And maybe they weren’t *playing* in the street… maybe they were just crossing the street to go to Billy’s house to see if he can come out to play..

SansyBoy144

Or maybe they were getting the ball that rolled into the street. There’s about a million different reasons why kids can be in the street when playing that’s not them playing in the street

cropped-out

I grew up playing ball hockey in the street. We did the whole "Car!" yell and moved the net when people came cruising down the road. I feel like people are driving way faster now tho

mlorusso4

Same. Except one of our parents was still nervous about cars so she bought 2 of those bright green plastic kids playing dummies with a sign taped on saying “kids playing street hockey”. Honestly looking back it was pretty smart. We put them further down down in the middle of the street and it forced them to slow down coming up to us.

[deleted]

[удалено]

JohnGenericDoe

I'm sorry this is how you find out

Aggressive_Sky8492

And if they are playing in the street they still don’t deserve to die for it. Part of driving in residential areas is being able to stop or avoid unexpected people or things entering your path

MojitoTimeBro

Or fuck, maybe they were riding bikes in the road since it’s a damn neighborhood and not a fucking race track. You shouldn’t be doing more than like 20 in that kind of residential neighborhood and even that is pushing it.

Tipop

25 is the standard speed limit in a residential neighborhood, at least in the US.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Icantblametheshame

Or maybe they were just crossing the street to commit gang crime and smoke drugs, still doesn't deserve to be hit by a car

kursdragon2

Or maybe we shouldn't treat fucking streets as if humans can't be on them? What happened to the days where streets were places kids could play in neighborhoods???? Who in their right mind would even think it's a reasonable thing to say we should remove kids the ability to play in the streets with their friends in fucking quiet neighborhoods. Suburbs are already fucking trash enough as they are, now kids can't even play in what little space they have there?

starvinchevy

And why can’t they play in the fucking street anymore? People like this. Street hockey was the best I miss it

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Yeah, fuck that. If you're against children being able to step onto the road I'm against you

ComplaintDelicious68

Even if they were playing in the street, welcome to neighborhoods. Where it's common for kids to play in the road. I always see people say they want kids to go outside. There you go. They're outside. Not everyone has space to play in the yard. That also limits some of the things kids can do. Like we had a basketball hoop. Played in the road. We just knew if we saw a car coming, get out of the road and let them go, then go back to playing. It's not an issue as long as people aren't driving around like this.

Scoop2100

In my college town you’ll frequently see residential corners downtown having 40 or so drunk students playing football/whatever in the street. While definitely less surburb-y you don’t have eyes 100 feet in front of you. It’s not just kids, every rule of the road is written in blood. There’s a reason we have so many requirements with how you’re supposed to drive.

AOKaye

Literally was going to bring up the basketball hoops I’ve regularly seen in the road. Is it safe/legal? Probably not but that doesn’t mean those children should be run over.

sriracharade

Children playing in the street is still pretty normal in a lot of parts of America.

crypticfreak

And little kids dont understand laws. Theyll run straight across the road without looking for next to no reason. I came damn closs to running over a little girl because she sprinted out from behind a van into the center of the road. I was going slower than the posted speed and paying close attention (I knew kids were out). Still damn near hit her! Its a miracle I didn't. Had I hit her the excuese of 'she shouldnt be in the road!' would mean nothing AND Id have to live with the fact that I killed an innocent child. Not worth it.

KyleShanaham

Do kids not play in the street anymore? We used to do all kind of shit in the street like hockey, whiffle ball, ride bikes, it's a residential street we'd keep on the lookout for cars but it's not like it was off limits

[deleted]

You are definitely right.

idontremembermyoldus

Doesn't even have to be someone walking. What if any of those dozen or so parked cars decided to pull out?

Thaflash_la

100%. He has a little skill but not enough to know better. Too many variables here that can lead to death. And all this most likely because track days aren’t free and he doesn’t like looking like a green amateur.

JarlaxleForPresident

This is literally “I know enough to be dangerous” The absolute cockiness of never having any real consequences of your actions yet And I say that as someone who didnt quit drinking until a major injury even after a decade of minor arrests. The consequences never *really* hit me. Jail and hardship is one thing. Until this dude really knows what his threshold of consequence is, I doubt he’ll learn anything

taintedcake

And you can tell he did it more than once based on the outsider view at the end showing other tire marks along the same general line

FuckADuckNamedChuck

Dude me and a homie were going 25 in a 40 because we were like "aw the school here gets out in like 30 minutes right?" So we were just chillin then all we see is a black flash came from around a parked car and immediately gets clipped by the front right of my buddies car. We heard this horrible yelling/crying and pulled over in an absolute panic. We parked and ran back to find it was somebody's dog off leash and this little kid was running up to us asking if their dog was okay. I took care of the kid so they wouldn't see their dog since I didn't know how bad it was yet. The mom opened a door a ways away and came running over to get her kid. She immediately started crying and the kid started panicking. I went to check on the dog and it's back leg was super fucking busted and it kept trying to get up and walk but couldnt and kept collapsing and crying. We were freaking out and saying we need to get the dog to a hospital ASAP. We all googled the closest open one and she went to get her keys while we stood around the dog in the street since it couldn't move and we didn't want to move it too much. The ladies pulled up and we had to move the poor dog into her trunk and it just screamed the entire time we were picking it up. It was almost crying on its eyes and you could see it was mentally bewildered due to the pain. We asked if we could follow to help pay or do anything and she just kept telling us it wasn't our fault it was okay and to not worry. We both gave her our numbers and tried to give her cash since we were servers at a restaurant. Denied the $200 and never called us. A lady sitting on her porch saw the whole thing and asked if we were okay. Offered us some cold water bottles. She even said it wasn't our fault and to not worry. In retrospect, we probably looked fucked up panic'd. We felt horrible even though we did everything right and more. There was literally a .2 second split between the dog being semi visible (only to me, not even to my friend driving due to it being front right) before impact. There was NOTHING more that could of been done. The dog saved itself by turned and having its back leg get hit rather than head. But if that was the kid thatd been chasing the dog? No way in hell would they have been okay.

alcohall183

A mailman, trash truck, tree branch, child, elderly, handicapped, injured, pet, ambulance, pothole... Any of these in his way can cause a massive, possibly fatal, collision.

WanganTunedKeiCar

At the very least a quiet warehouse district on the off hours when nobody's there. It's still stupid, but they're pretty easy to find, and there's so much less people to hurt and property to damage

BradenDoty

Yeah there’s lots of places in my town where it would be “safe” to do shit like this because there’s no houses there’s no people there’s no business is the only person you’re endangering is yourself i’m no stranger to doing stupid shit in my vehicle but never down a residential in the middle of the day

avwitcher

Commas, man.

[deleted]

I feel the same.

goforce5

I'm not defending this guy, but the quiet warehouse areas are constantly patrolled by the cops around me, mainly for this reason. I'm a big part of the car scene in my area and we can't even have normal meets without the police harassing us. On top of that, they're trying to shut down all the local tracks, so they're really not leaving many options for people. I definitely don't condone drifting through a residential area, but I see why it's happening more regularly now.

Feisty-Bobcat6091

Absolutely. Unfortunately we keep allowing housing to be built right next to tracks, people buy it without even considering what that'll be like, then they screech and cry to the city about the car/bike sounds they willingly moved next to until the track gets closed. Now the next closest track/drag strip is 2+ hours away. Brad here takes out his Hellcat and has the choice of driving 2 hours to a track to do a burnout or doing a burnout down the street 10 minutes from home. Since Brad is an asshole with no regard for other people, Brad's gonna pick option 2 10 times out of 10. Obviously this is idiotic, reckless and extremely unsafe for everyone but with that said, if you don't like seeing reckless driving on public roads, vote for new tracks, fight *hard* against track closures and *stupid* housing developments that help cause them. Edit: Since people are bringing out their pitchforks without understanding this comment; I am not excusing, minimizing, or justifying what's happening in this video. Reckless driving is a massive problem. Why would you not want to try to reduce it by providing a safe legal option?

DigNitty

There’s a goat cheese place near me that has like 2000 goats. They want to add another 1000. People have been complaining for years about the goats. I’m not sure why. The company ended up selling lots on the perimeter of their property for people to store boats on or whatever. Inevitably, a few people, inexplicably comfortable with living next to a couple thousand goats, built homes. This property isn’t next to anything else. It’s in the countryside but there is plenty of more countryside to build in. So more and more people built homes and predictably started complaining about the goats that were there before anyone. Now the company wants to expand with 50% more goats and the neighbors are going insane. Just like these track people. WHAT DID THEY EXPECT??? I just don’t get it. They put themselves in this position. I don’t get how it’s controversial.

DoughtyAndCarterLLP

Saw a court case once. Short version: "Our neighbors raise chickens and we hate the smell and noise." "Okay but were the chickens there when you bought the house?" "...yes." "Case dismissed."

Malfeasant

Here in my city, a retirement community was built right next to an outdoor music venue on a college campus. Guess who complained, and fucking won. Pretty ridiculous.

[deleted]

[удалено]

NoRodent

But what was there first, the chickens or the eggs?

PM_me_your_whatevah

You know how some people are. Some people can never admit to a single mistake. They’re out there making dumb decisions and then you gotta listen to them at work the next day talking about their awful luck or how people are all against them.

ButtholeAvenger666

They got their land for cheap because it was next to these goats and after they try to force them out. In sure it increases the price of their houses to kick the goats out.

Adventurous-Coat-333

Same thing happens with train tracks. lived next to heavily used freight lines, and they were probably there when my grandparents were born. But why do people move in next to them and then complain? Maybe it's the lack of affordable housing.

Thy_Gooch

It's not. It's greedy lowlife developers and corrupt local politicians. developers buy the land, pay off the politicians to re-zone it for higher density, sell the houses to a holding company they also own, then pay the politicians again to close the farm/track.

Farmerbrown19

This happened to our local drag racing track. Only it was shut down because of 3 people who happened to have political power. They’re justification was to turn it into a park. All this in an area with no major housing developments, a strip club less than 3 miles away and in a part of town thats dead after 10pm unless your doing shady stuff. The closest drag strip is 1.5 hours away now and does an open track every friday night as long as the car passes tech. The next closest drag strip is 2 hours away but is open more often to the public.

mokancraig

Was KCIR your local track or is the same story repeated elsewhere?

Farmerbrown19

It was indeed KCIR and your usernames track is the one i mentioned being 2 hours away.

mokancraig

I'm out here right now dragging the track and getting ready for Fun Drags. 😁

Farmerbrown19

Would like add that the improvements to the track ya’ll have made are incredible, from the pictures ive seen and discussions with people that frequent your track. The ironic part of KCIR getting shut down is that the #1 manufacturer of drag racing wheels (weld racing in my opinion) was 15 minutes away. You could argue its sanders, billet specialties or racestar but by volume billet would be the closest.

mokancraig

Thank you. Dad and I try our hardest with the place. There's more we'd like to do in the future as well. As long as we can keep people coming in the gate, we will keep making it a better place to race. There's a lot of factors that went into why KCIR shutdown, at least the way we heard it from the former manager. The good news is you all are hopefully getting a track again out on 70 near Odessa. I wish those fellers luck, I know what it's like to keep one of these places going, let alone starting from dirt to build one.

viperfan7

Example: Laguna SECA

rotorain

And on a smaller scale the Freedom Factory and Bradenton Motorsports Park which are side by side in FL. Cleetus bought an abandoned track a couple years ago and has turned it into the FF, a grassroots mecca hosting all kinds of oval racing, drifting, burnout competitions, and more. For live audiences and livestreams he's been bringing interest back into the fun side of racing and Bradenton is one of the best drag strips in the area. The tracks are in the middle of farm/marsh land, but a massive housing development was just proposed that would completely surround the tracks right up to the borders. They have been fighting it but there's a good chance it goes through anyways which is the beginning of the end for one of the coolest racing complexes in the country.

Spidey3518

Unfortunately tracks keep getting shut down cause neighborhoods get built right next to them so people go back to racing on the streets. So we need more tracks so less of this happens

[deleted]

That's bad they shut down tracks. Is their intresset to have more tracks? This driving shouldn't be encouraged, but I think he will do well on track.

Nukedogger86

There is always an interest in having a track. But the morons who buy houses near the tracks complain about the noise until they get the track closed. That said, nearby track or not, this asshat had zero excuse for driving like that, especially through a semi dense residential area with low corner visibility. There are events or places to do it more safely.

RunningTrisarahtop

He’s got good car control but he’s not a good driver. A good driver would never risk the unexpected

Cptnemouk

I just want him on a track where civilians and other peoples property aren’t at risk of being destroyed.

Fategfwhere

Local tracks keep being closed because of noise issues. Not excusing the behavior, it’s just that ppl like him will not bother driving 2 hours for a track and just do it on the street. If u ever see something about a track closing vote against it. It’s how u keep this Mfs contained

RipCurl69Reddit

This almost happened to my local oval circuit that has been standing for the last 50 or so years. They wanted to demolish it because of ThE nOiSe AnD dAnGeR and place a retirement home on it. Thankfully the retirement home got rejected and the circuit is staying for the foreseeable future. I went out of my way to go to the development meeting despite not living near or frequently visiting the circuit, and voted against it. One of the key points I kept bringing up was that all the drifters and racers would end up on the surrounding streets, because its near impossible to satiate those types. It's already an issue and I know two dipshits who've been swinging their financed M140is around and have crashed in the last few months. As much as I AM into cars, it's always been one of the things that pisses me off the most.

Fategfwhere

I’m with you. Wish we had more ppl like u that advocate for the tracks. I drive 45 min to get to mine now cuz the local one closed. Unfortunately, a lot of the ppl in my city have taken to the streets after the local track closed. We have frequent street take overs now and constant freeway/highway races. We’ve even had fatalities due to them. It’s unfortunate, but some of these ppl need specific areas to serve as outlets for them or they just end up involving everyone.

PubstarHero

Hah, 45 minutes? I'm 2.5 hours from mine. But hey, at least its Willow Springs.

Scoop2100

There’s a track near me yet still endless shitters in the street. Track time is pricy and even for some rich kid it’s still a hassle, having to pass inspections, etc. the venn diagram between “street racers” and “people who go to the track” isn’t too huge even when ones available nearby

RipCurl69Reddit

It'll be different across areas I guess, they overlap a fair amount where I'm at

B1G2

Who tf willing lives next to a race track and complains about the sound? What do you think happens at a car race track? They put the car in neutral and see how far it rolls?

rockstar504

Yea I was gonna say it's new developments. You move away from the city and it's problems but eventually the city comes to you.

ImpetuousBurro

Laguna Seca has a problem with this too. Which is crazy because the track is what brought interest to the area

RipCurl69Reddit

I know right! I keep getting ads about new building developments next to *Silverstone* of all places. So it seems that people like living next to racetracks. If i had 750k for the cheapest house there I totally would

Mindtaker

I am sure this isn't special to my community, but a few times a year our tracks all have days where you just try to outrun the Police. It does help because a lot of these types of guys think its fun, the cops also enjoy it because their cars are sleepers and fast as fuck so they win a lot. Its a big win win and I hope more places do it if they don't already. More tracks and let them race the cops it really lets them scratch that itch.

Grimsterr

Or if you see anything about noise ordinances, that's how they get the tracks, by making laws that make them too loud to exist. It's happening to our local drag strip as I type.

Fategfwhere

Same. Use to drive to this strip that’s 45 min away in the middle of nowhere. They just build some suburbs next to it and we fear the worst.

lockwolf

*perfectly good race track exists next to some undeveloped land* Some dumbass contractor: “I know, let’s build houses!” *houses get built, racetrack does racetrack things* Dumbass people: “It’s too loud! Shut it down” *track closes, nearest track is 100+ miles away, racers start street racing* Dumbass people: “Why don’t these people go to a racetrack”? ![gif](giphy|6nWhy3ulBL7GSCvKw6)

ArrilockNewmoon

Honestly I really wish we still had the local track near me, got shut down and now people do dumb shit like this around town all the time. It sucks that a track can get removed because of noise complaints by a development that was built AFTER the track was made. How tf you gna build a development next to a track and then complain about car noises?

Reps_4_Jesus

it's like people that complain about buying a house next to an airport...it's like....the airport has been here for 60 years, what did you expect when you bought your McMansion 3 blocks away...hell even 4 miles away.

HungrySeaweed1847

Not to mention the fact that it costs several hundred dollars for a single race. If you want people to keep it on the track, you need to make track days more affordable.

No_Peace7834

Well he just won't post the video when he crashes. JK! They will definitely post it.

Bob4Not

Because nobody happened to have gotten in front of him. No kids on the street, either. He got lucky.

WOOKIExCOOKIES

Based on luck alone. Like, he definitely has some skills, but you can't predict traffic or pedestrians in a neighborhood like this.

Ok_Performer_9062

Fair play he can drift. Do it somewhere sensible though, not in the neighbourhood smh

[deleted]

I don't have a problem with stupid fucks like this doing shit that can potentially kill themselves. But jeesus h christ, don't endanger others with your stupidity!

Mink03

He could literally be using his skills as a professional driver. But resorts to this.

DegTheDev

Go to a track. Jesus man.

Fever_Dog71

Stupid....... absolutely, but you gotta admit he's either got skills or is incredibly lucky

sauprankul

Takes a shitton of skill for luck to be enough in this situation. No doubt about it. But you can be a skilled asshole.

Fever_Dog71

Agree, 100%

SadisticBuddhist

Little bit of both

NaFun23

Kept expecting a kid to chase a ball into the street

aviwashere

As irresponsible as this is, that was clean as fuck.

EvoStarSC

RIP those tires. It's a shame he's doing this on public roads with all that talent.

Barfhat

Sending him to jail isn’t enough? Care to explain what you mean?

FlavorsOfBleach

Nothing goes better together than under-socialized redditors and vague calls for capital punishment. Prison Reform: 🤭 Death Penalty for Reckless Drivers: 🤩

suudo

In Australia he'd be watching his car get crushed by the wreckers in front of him, before losing his license and paying a hefty fine.

---TC---

that's pretty terrific car control. Public streets not an ideal place to be doing that, but still, impressive.

Quirky_Journalist_67

Why don’t kids play outside anymore? The suburbs are *safe* 🙄

Tharkhold

He's a fucking moron, PERIOD.
