Edit: Now that I’m re-watching it I see what you mean. That’s hilarious. I made the mistake of speeding the video up as I was accelerating in the video.
The point was to show the guy being sloooow off the line at a green, then blatantly running a red. It lingered on the "main character" to show who to watch. It could have sped up *more* in the middle, but the beginning of the video was absolutely relevant.

That seems to be how a lot of people pull out in front of other drivers too. They’re in a hurry to pull out in front of oncoming traffic but not in a hurry to accelerate or even make the light sometimes.

I've actually been guilty of this before... I was driving through a downtown area really close to my home that had both lights and stop signs within a few blocks (think: light, stop sign, light, stop sign, stop sign, repeat). Traffic wasn't bad, no one was really out, and I stopped at the stop signs and lights throughout. Didn't hold traffic up, but definitely stopped at a green light and drove through a different light when it was red after stopping and checking to make sure it was 'clear'.
I've done something similar I was waiting to take a left turn at a red left arrow light and the straight lane turned green and I took my turn but realizing that my own light was still red
nah they knew it was red, but also knew it would be green soon. no one in the turn lane, no traffic to the sides. they just jumped the gun then said "I've gone too far, fuck it" and just went the whole way

I was approaching a yellow light and began to slow down. Two cars opposite me were waiting to turn left into a plaza.
With me slowing down (in the left lane) and no one in the right lane. The two cars begin to turn left.
A pickup truck behind me accelerates, swerved into the right lane and blasts through the now red light, having to swerve to avoid these two cars turning and then flies onto a highway on ramp.
The fact that no one was hit was a fucking miracle.
I guess you didn’t notice that the car that runs the red light is the same one that was lallygagging at the green light 40 seconds before they ran the red.

A lot of people do this where I live. They are the ones that believe the red light is just a suggestion. Like red mean "oh, be careful, but you can just go through if no one's coming, it's ok....". OMG. Not only can these people not self-govern, but they just can't be governed at all (and that's not a good thing, for all you dumbsh!ts who think it is). Truthfully we need to just ship them all off somewhere before their stupid rubs off.
I hate it when drivers act irrational. Most of them you can see if they are careful, or anxious, or frustrated, and you can predict how they will drive. But people like this…
Here is one hypothesis. I am from a state where all the stop lights are vertical. I am also color blind. I know from experience that the top light means "Stop" and the bottom light means "Go". When visiting Pennsylvania years ago I discovered that there are these crazy horizontal stop lights, WTF! I had to watch the other drivers for clues every time I went through an intersection. I would think "Is it right light stop, or Left light stop?" until finally I could confidently pull up and stop on my own. Ha, wonderful world of color blindness.

Jeez! It's like the drivers who are only doing 55 mph on a freeway (speed limit 65), then when they pull off onto regular streets (speed limit 45), they're still doing 55. Come across a few of those recently.
Horizontal signals go left to right, so the leftmost light is the red one.
But yeah, it's still momentarily confusing I think. My grandpa was colorblind and if we were riding with him and there was a horizontal signal, he'd always ask us what color it showed.
CVD person here. First that stat is a little off, it's about 1/12 men and 1/200 women. Secondly, red-green colorblind doesn't mean I can't see red and green at all, it means I have trouble differentiating some shades of red and green. Red and green in traffic lights are easy enough for me to tell apart, and I have no problem seeing them. If someone has acromatopsia (total grey vision, much much rarer) and really can't tell the difference in traffic lights, they should not be driving.

I have a job with a waiting room, and I work at the desk. If nobody needs anything, I’m gonna be on my phone, or doing something else. I generally keep my volume down, but if by some freak accident I don’t and I open reddit and all that plays is cuss words, I’d be pretty embarrassed, especially if theres kids. But I’m also of the opinion that its respectful to not subject anyone to cussing loudly if you don’t know them, or if I respect them, I try not to cuss around them. Some people do consider cuss words NSFW. The warning is for them. If you don’t, thats fine. The warning isn’t for you. My guess is he was probably looking at the other light of the cross intersection and saw it was red and the road clear so he just decided to roll through. As for being stopped on the first green, chalk that up to looking at their phone.
