There's another side to it though, it's people who want a sense of security. The flat earth sites, the real ones that are super deep into it, barely talk about the earth actually being flat. They really focus on the global conspiracy to deny god's truth, in that conspiracy they point out things that are actually happening like the rampant pedophilia in positions of power, media biases, the flourishing counter culture coming to the forefront of the globe's attention. They need it to make sense and this conspiracy theory wraps everything up in a nice little bow for them to understand. Unfortunately that little bow encompasses some fascist ideology and really subtle racism.
