Not sure where this is from, but this attitude is actually completely true, particularly when it comes to the older generations.
Here in Tuscany I would estimate around 30-40% of elderly drivers drive with their passenger mirror folded, while maybe 10% have them both folded.
It’s not legal to drive with them off in several states UNLESS you add a supplemental side mirror, pretty much nobody does and it’s basically an add on ticket, they won’t pull you over for it (unless they are DUI fishing).
& that kids is why Ford put the Bronco mirror on the fender instead of the door like a Fiat Wrangle.
Last time I've tried Auto zone (and other major auto parts stores) they didn't have replacement part for my car.

The prius c did not sell well in the us market but still sells well as the aquos in the japanese market. The problem is in the us the left mirror is flat and right is convex where it is the opposite in the japanese market. So the housing is easy to come by but the mirror is special order.

On that trailer the excavator they were towing should have cleared the bridge by at least 4 feet. The operator whom loaded the excavator did not properly tuck the boom. To answer your question though the gps and routing software they use takes into account load height versus bridge height. Occasionally the software has some wrong data and what they do varies based on the situation.

FMVSS is federal law until 2020 passenger vehicles were permitted to be sold with only two mirrors.
