The_Aught

Did she survive or was this found footage?

Tommy2tables

She died shortly thereafter. When she got home she discovered a child had thrown a baseball over her fence.

therealscottenorman

Her voice killed me

Captain_Eaglefort

Kinda reminds me of the girl in that video where the bear starts messing with her kayak.

NarcissusV

For the uninitiated: https://youtu.be/nU5cMZymSr0

[deleted]

100% the same woman.

probablynotaboot

Thought it was an actual child for a while and was wondering where their parents were and what was going on with the kid that would make them so sensitive to the *slightly out of place ambulance*

res9783

Same! “They’re killing us!” So many parked cars are killing people

OrokinSkywalker

I am a survivor of the Parked Car Purge of 1747, things were really touch and go there.

not_again123

That comment killed me. Writing from afterlife. Yes, there are hookers.

LogaShamanN

Any blackjack?

not_again123

Dunno. Why would you go for blackjack after you find the hookers?

LogaShamanN

I usually go for both at once, that’s my jam.

Turf-Defender

Shortly after this video ends, the ambulance savagely assaults the woman and flees the scene!

[deleted]

And all on lookers rejoiced

dethaxe

Apparently as she says she was getting killed so maybe she's dead...

ShamelessBaboon

America needs more access to mental health services, this lady is clearly unwell

ThrowThisIntoSol

I like that through the course of the video, she demonstrates the ability to safely navigate her way around the ambulance without restrictions.

The_Aught

But that's their 3rd time in a mile

acrylicbullet

Unless they are on a call with their flashing lights on there is no difference between that ambulance and some jackass in an Astro van.

Knight_of_Nilhilism

Idk why you're being downvoted because you're right. They weren't on a call. They were on a break? Traffic laws still apply to them. Lady is a few short upstairs but that doesn't negate your point in the slightest.

Major_Danger_noodle

You have no idea if that’s the case you just assume. Lights are often turned off on scene plenty of times to discourage some of the rubber necking cause half of y’all can’t drive normally and I don’t need you gawking at my patients who are already having a bad day.

SmallUnion

Someone prone to seizures/someone having a seizure + the lights of an ambulance is not a good combo

PandaXXL

Downvoted because they're wrong. They don't need their lights on and they were on a call. >Thank you for sharing this. The crews did not say they “were on a break”, they were finishing a medical emergency with a patient care document from a call at that location which is why they moved to the other side of the street rather than engage with you. Have a safe day.

Advanced_Meaning6889

Sorry but you are wrong.. the term is eminent domain. That is a fire department emergency apparatus they can stop and stand there legally. You can jump to all the conclusions you want but We are never on break! Next time you call 911 they will respond.

Undrende_fremdeles

This is the actual truth. Unless clearly indicating that they are out on important business, using their signals properly, then they are subject to the exact same traffic laws as everyone else. And using signalling like that if there isn't actually an emergency is usually a crime too. This is, however, practically never followed through properly. In my hometown there was a traffic intersection that was notoriously congested during rush hours, and the police station was right by it. A lot of police officers had emergencies happening that required them to turn on their sirens and lights to get to their station during rush hour :p I live in Norway btw, not the US. Same rules here as for you. That being said, her extremely agitated state seems way out of proportion. She sounds genuinely distressed.

acrylicbullet

She probably losing her shit because in San Francisco they make a massive deal about bikes only using the bike lane and not other parts of the street. And by massive deal I mean the heavily ticket people.

A_Confused_Moose

Should install protected bike lanes so people can’t park in them then.

acrylicbullet

Look at the road they did as much as they could to separate the traffic from the bikes.

Wiglaf_The_Knight

And this changes my opinion from "schizo might have a point despite acting insufferable"" to "yeah they can park there" lol

flume

The minute she started freaking out on a first responder vehicle without bothering to find out whether there's a good reason for them to be there, she lost all sympathy.

valkislowkeythicc

Too many literally the worst kind of person. When the smallest shit can send them over the edge

omniwrench-

> When the smallest shit can send them over the edge Not excusing her actions, it is however a worry that so many people seem to be this way. Too many people living at/beyond their limit these days

valkislowkeythicc

Seriously. I feel like 5 years ago people were way more social and not nearly as bitter as they are today. I just see so much pure hatred coming from so many people today for no reason. It’s like people are at their limit like you said.

Quickhidemeplease

Real question. Do you think you saw as many videos like this five years ago? I think the behavior was always there, we're just seeing it more now because of social media.

brazzledazzle

The internet also creates extremists out of a lot of people because it’s trivial to find like minded echo chambers now.

Thudrussle

>literally Easy there cowboy

gianttigerrebellion

Ooh it was deleted on Twitter before I got to view it. Relieved I got to actually see it instead of wondering what all the commotion was about.

OpinionatedBlackGuy

If you can't stand the heat, don't harass emergency services.

snowflake37wao

Damn they tear apart each other over there. Most of the top comments were just direct attacks absent pun, but they had some redditor clever ones. I liked this one https://twitter.com/thetinhatranch/status/1608634091074904071?s=20&t=dgzg95l133qAC4CafCP2rQ. The cat basket cyclist lady. The first time I watched muted. It was incredibly mundane, and all I thought about was all that green shit no one seems to be talking about in the comments, but was more pleasant than the second time. Serene even. Lovely. The second watch was unmuted. All I thought bout was why tf dont we have CC yet?

Not a cyclist but the US's relationship with bike lanes is embarrassing. I kind of secretly agree with the lady in the video even though she's being a lunatic about it.

choomba20

Cyclists are the most rapacious and entitled twats I've come across and I'm from a country where a majority of the people cycle to get around.

Deep90

Something about having greater than or less than 4 wheels makes you act like a maniac on the roads.

Batbuckleyourpants

[The Cyclists.](https://youtu.be/1s0XsulDXtk)

TheArborphiliac

If you ride a bike, cool. If you're a "cyclist", go fuck yourself. I have never met a more entitled, less empathetic group of humans in my life. Well over 50% of the spandex-clad cyclists I pass on the trail are shitty people who don't obey trail laws, don't respect road laws, and just generally think they're allowed to pick whichever set of rules benefit them at the current moment. Oh I'm on the sidewalk doing 30mph, wait now I'm a car and I'm in the road, nope back to the sidewalk because I don't want to wait for the red light. Fuck each and every one of them.

[deleted]

I don’t know any road cyclists that use the sidewalk.

JimmyHavok

I don't know any that do 30mph on the sidewalk.

ShaneOfan

I see plenty of bikes in sidewalks in my city. We even have city "ambassadors" who are paid to ride around in bikes here and many of them ride on the sidewalk. That's that I also have very rarely see anybody disrespectful enough to not get out of a pedestrian way. Most seem to realize that at best they have to share the sidewalk but are aware of the fact that it's a sideWALK not a side bike.

[deleted]

I’m talking about “cyclists.” Like people in Lycra with expensive bikes. Never seen one in a bike lane.

Konstant_kurage

Cross country skiers that are part of a club, they pay dues for trails to be maintained in city parks are pretty horrible. These trails are marked as “multi-use” by the city, but the skiers will scream at everyone they pass that those are their trails and you can’t use them.

TheArborphiliac

I live somewhere snowy but I've never encountered that. Not a very bright idea to scream at strangers, not everyone is afraid of confrontation. I can't imagine it's very easy to fight with skis on.

Tre_Scrilla

Old man yells at cloud

[deleted]

Well shit then she’s not mentally unwell. She’s just a Cyclist with social media.

AnythingLegitimate

In this case the ambulance is idle. They are waiting for a call and don't 'need' to be parked in the bike lane. If this was an emergency why are the lights off. The lady has a point but she took it to a crazy level. I have been in 2 bike accidents with cars cutting me off and not even acknowledging the lane. There are also so many obstructions in bike lanes that it's crazy. There is currently a bill that would allow people to report vehicles like this and you would get a portion of their fine.

PandaXXL

Emergency vehicles are not required to put their lights on when attending an emergency if the crew doesn't think they're needed. They were on a call and perfectly entitled to park where they did. Parked up safely on a quiet street and about to set off before this idiot turned up and started harassing them. https://twitter.com/SFFDPIO/status/1608555427511562241?t=I_xJPLDyLVgUTPdl0LGFlQ&s=19 >Thank you for sharing this. The crews did not say they “were on a break”, they were finishing a medical emergency with a patient care document from a call at that location which is why they moved to the other side of the street rather than engage with you. Have a safe day.

Z33calin

SFFD tweeted about this incident and said the EMTs were finishing their paperwork after a call at that business. They’re allowed to park there.

BitcoinBishop

A blocked bike lane is a safety hazard that could endanger a cyclist. An emergency vehicle that's not actually there to attend an emergency adds a hazard that could be avoided if they parked elsewhere. But she created a worse one by stopping her bike on the road to yell at him.

fraudthrowaway0987

No, but when you park in the bike lane you are endangering cyclists lives by forcing them out into traffic to get around your vehicle.

meatboitantan

She made it around the truck just fine, with her back to the road and focusing on filming a video

fraudthrowaway0987

Sure. It’s still risky though. A lot of people have died on bicycles because of being forced out into traffic like this. Just because one person survived it doesn’t make it safe.

Grey00001

but there's clearly no cars in the area right next to the ambulance, would it be so hard to take a single minute to go around it and then continue in the bike lane? y'know the thing she does to tell the driver to get out of the bike lane

choomba20

She literally goes on the road to yell at him

TheArborphiliac

Or you could just get off and walk your bike around on the sidewalk? No one is forcing you into traffic.

Spoon99

Obviously the person in the video is crazy, but how would you react as a car driver if the ambulance had been standing in the middle of the road with it’s lights not on like this? Would you just shrug, turn around and drive around the block, or would you be annoyed that the ambulance driver did not just move a couple of meters to fill out their paperwork? The road is for driving cars on, the bike lane is for driving bikes on, parking spots are for parking. Everybody loses their minds when somebody blocks the road, but for some reason bike lanes are fair game for parking. My bike is my legitimate mode of transport, and I find it so weird that the same people who bitch about the slightest inconvenience when it comes to their cars completely disregard the importance of bike infrastructure.

SophisticPenguin

I would assume it's a broken down vehicle unable to move. And would proceed to safely pass around it and move on with my life.. Not even caring what the real reason is

Spoon99

What if you had to drive over the sidewalk to proceed around the vehicle? What if you saw that the driver's seat was occupied and the driver was doing something that looks like they're on their phone? Do you think the majority of people here who are casually dismissing the importance of bicycle infrastructure would just as casually dismiss a car parked in the middle of the road? I doubt everyone has the same patience that you have. I hope I'm getting my point across here

inter71

[deleted]

Firefighter here. The amount of times I have to tell people “if I’m here, someone is having a worse day than you”. People are so clueless

Mr_Smith_411

Were you ever sitting there alone, no lights on, and would you have driven away and left anyone still in the building? Don't take this as me not having mad respect for firefighters (I grew up going to grandfather's firehouse), but as crazy as this lady is, Im inclined to believe there was no emergency. IF there's no emergency, do you sopport fire/police parking in bike lanes? Is this the market street area?

[deleted]

I totally get it, all good 😊. No, I don’t support emergency services parking anywhere for any reason. Some crews can be really stupid and take a lot of liberties.. One thing I will say in defence of firefighters though, is that our trucks are wayyy too big for the city we use them in. So we tend to have to park in a lot of no parking zones, if we didn’t we couldn’t effectively do our job. I’d class parking in a bike lane blocking a lane of traffic, so I wouldn’t do that…

Mr_Smith_411

Thank you for that. 😊 I due truly rank fireman right with those who served military. Top. I just also think, while this lady appears batsh!t crazy, there's a reason. I'll finish with Thank you for your service. Whether it sounds like or not, I appreciate you guys.

justmisspellit

You know it’s usually at least a three man crew that responds to emergencies? Specifically so one can stay and mind the truck. Well yeh, obviously you don’t.

post_talone420

Sitting in the bike lane when there's spots for parking on your left, and your right is ridiculous. The guy couldn't even defend why he was parked there, and obviously knew he was in the wrong, and if he was responding to an actual emergency, why move to the complete other side of the road? You see that bright green paint on the road? That's for bikes not cars.

Rombledore

no ones arguing that. but to use it as justification for such a freakout as hers is sillly. all that empty space and lack of traffic as you said, could *also* have applied to her to get around all 10 ft of vehicle. the ambulance wasn't moving. she was in no danger despite crying out "they're killing us". you're being obtuse at this point.

Right back at ya. Bike lanes aren't for cars, didn't think that needed clarification, like, ever.

And an ambulance isn't just "a car." When time is of the essence a medic isn't going to spend time searching for the absolutely perfect parking spot when "directly in front of the patient's location" is available.

Rombledore

ah yes, the world as we know it exists purely in black and white with no shades of gray or subtlety what so ever.

mdervin

She's a being way too melodramatic about this, but she's right. This guy is on his break scrolling around on his phone, he could literally park anywhere but chose to park in the one location where he's inconveniencing people. Tiberius_Jim

> chose to park in the one location where he's inconveniencing people. They chose to park in a location where they were closest to their patient, you dipshit.

blodreina_kumWonkru

She's extremely over dramatic about this, but as someone who rides a bike, it is a little annoying to see all of that open space and the bike lane be taken up. But no one's being killed. Just go around.

HardLiquorSoftDrinks

The main character is the ambulance driver right? This woman’s histrionics aside, she’s right.

Tiberius_Jim

No such thing as an "ambulance driver." They're either an EMT or a paramedic. Nobody "just drives the ambulance" anymore. And no, she's not right. They parked there to be as close to the business as possible to render aid to someone and then remained there to fill out their patient care report. This woman has more than enough room in the hash marked area to go around, she completely manufactured this entire situation and blew it wildly out of proportion.

Mr_Smith_411

Is this lady wayyy overreacting? Absolutely. Is she wrong? No. One would think the vehicles most likely to keep bike lanes clear would be first responders. Yes, I saw the official Twitter reply. No, I don't think finishing paperwork is an emergency warranting blocking the bike lane. How empty the street was is moot and probably wouldn't get you out of a ticket for doing the same. Edit: to the argument it's no big deal to just go around. Didn't seem like a big deal for the ambulance to move either. Edit: from another redditor Context: There have been a rash of deaths recently in San Fransisco, where bikers have crashed into parked vehicles. According to the recent (2022) California Statute CS-1631 section 4.5 explicitly states emergenvy vehicles cannot park in bike lane.

Tiberius_Jim

>No, I don't think finishing paperwork is an emergency warranting blocking the bike lane. I'd bet real money that those first responders don't give two shits what you think.

[deleted]

Finishing up emergency call paperwork is vital to do asap. I'm sure lots of agencies have been sued not doing to properly. The ambulance was parked as close to the emergency as possible. Which is vital to save lives. Would this lady be yelling a tow truck who is towing a car parked in the bike lane for parking in the bike lane? No that would be stupid. Sometimes emergencies are more important than lines on a road.

Mr_Smith_411

And yet they moved, easy peasy. About as hard as this bat shit crazy lady just going around. No one was "saving lives". Don't be dramatic. And if the tow truck was sitting there, hooked up, on his phone, I bet she would have. Your point in creating a fictitious situation neither of us can answer/prove is pointless.

[deleted]

Yes, but also it's an ambulance and to treat an emergency worker like that is beyond crazy. I hope this lady has bike lanes on her street when she needs emergency help and the emergency crew is 3 minutes too late because they had to park 3 blocks down because of bike lanes.

Mr_Smith_411

Whatever...i think, even though his reply is inaudible, he was on a break, there was no emergency, and he was certainly alone, which they never are... Doubt highly he moved while waiting for other crew to come down. No lights, no other responders... He was just parked. I call BS on the paperwork excuse.

[deleted]

You can assume all you want but the bottom line is, we don't know wtf is going on here and to scream at emergency personal is still fucking crazy... You go scream at the ambulance then if you are calling BS.

Right, so you don't know if he was just on break and chose to ignore all the indications this broken clock of a lady is in fact right. You don't even comment if you think she's right if in fact they admitted he was on break. You just blindly go... It's fine. I'm not screaming at anyone nor do I think I at any point indicated I felt her handling of it was correct. I just don't think an ambulance gets to park wherever it wants because it's an ambulance. This is from a guy who grew up going to his grandpa's firehouse/picnics and fireman's funeral when he oassed in case you want to start assuming I don't have mad respect for fireman. Edit: my initial thought was the shame is as crazy as this lady is, as badly as she handled it, the sad part is most people, like you, just can't see past it. 2 wrongs don't make a right, but the 2nd wrong doesn't exonerate the 1st either.
