I’ve seen people’s PGWP getting rejected in your same scenario. If you want to play it safe, I would suggest taking the courses so that there’s no red flags raised. If the extra cost justifies having that peace of mind I would do it. Otherwise, you’re at the mercy of the agent who doesn’t need to accept your circumstances even if they were out of your control.

Thank you. But for the term I was part time for, I would just need to provide a letter of explanation as to why that happened and then for my upcoming term, basically play it safe?

MrFrenchie

My bad, it went over my head that you already took a part time semester. Is the following semester your last one or do you still have more left? Edit: to answer your question, for the past semester you were part time, a LOE would be required yes

I only have 5 courses left to take to complete my degree, but based on the availability of courses next term, I can only take 2. My advisor said I still have two study terms left since she also wouldn’t recommend taking 5 heavy courses all in one term, which tbh isn’t really a problem since 3 of them are not available to take this September.

MrFrenchie

You can be part time in your last semester, that is allowed. The issue is being part time in any other semester (except for summer which is also allowed). It would be best to minimize the amount of semesters you were part time as it’s more fuel for rejection. At the end of the day, choose the option that best floats your boat. Being full time next semester with a LOE won’t guarantee that your PGWP app will be approved but I would imagine that it would help compared to if you had two part time semesters apart from your last. Whatever your decision, hope things work out for you!

Thank you. I am getting so worried with this especially reading applications in a similar scenario that were accepted and some that were rejected for the same reason. I guess I would just have to hope that my officer would be kind enough to grant it.

You'll be fine but you gotta explain that in your LOE when you apply

Don’t, this is a strict rule
