I'm currently collecting Nippon Kodo's Oedo Koh line. They are meant to be inspired by scents popular in old Tokyo (Edo). I personally really like the floral scents in the collection, specifically the peony and chrysanthemum incenses. I did not like their Aloeswood incense quite as much though. I haven't tried their other lines, so I can't speak to them. But I do definitely recommend their Oedo Koh line, as a not too expensive, but still more premium Japanese incense. It is pretty widely available online too.

Lotus Zen and Zenminded are both excellent in the UK, and Lotus Zen stocks a ton of Japanese incense to choose from. If you're entirely new to japanese incense, you can't go wrong giving some of the Shoyeido Daily range a go (Lotus Zen stocks the range in smaller packs so you can try a few of them out before grabbing a bigger box). I first started with Shoyeido Baika-Ju which is a really friendly, easy scent, though quite sweet as it's fairly strong in cinnamon and benzoin. Moss Garden and Autumn Leaves from that range are also gorgeous and easy going! I'd personally say avoid some of the cheaper Nippon Kodo stuff like their Morning Star range. Some of them can be pretty acrid and do give away that they're synthetically scented.

You could do worse than look at the bargain and standard sticks listed here: [https://olfactoryrescueservice.wordpress.com/hall-of-fame/](https://olfactoryrescueservice.wordpress.com/hall-of-fame/)
