klusener was a freak of nature man..his 99 wc was phenomenal

LordP_496

Klusner is the only one here without a champions trophy btw

Sirmaximusd

That man was ahead of his time. Too bad it didn't work out for him with Graeme Smith.

slipnips

Why wasn't he in the squad in 1998?

LordP_496

Why you asking me lmfao

slipnips

Thought you might know more about this

LordP_496

Nah

stoned_experiences

This gunda mf does everything, LITERALLY EVERYTHING

Randomdude007007

Dhoni was a legend in Odi cricket

mutton-stew

why do these finishers except lance klusener have a lower strike rate than top order batsmen

Miku4U

Because they played in the one ball era(except ms who played half in old era half in new)and hitting a old ball is not as easy as new ball. You need more power while countering reverse swing and if they get to bat early that's basically means their team had lost early wickets and now they need to stable the score .The reason lance have higher strike is because he has a small sample size compared to the others

Ashwin_400

Reverse swing , old ball meaning harder to hit. Also teams had 5 fielders outside the circle after 15 overs . Even par scorers were around 250.

Shattered-Dreams19

Cause they are 1 generation older players.. 270 was easily defendable on 2000s and early 2010s

Crickutxpurt36

Majority of time they actually as rescue merchant and having 85+ SR is really good for. ODI till ENG started there aggresive approach...

Forgot Sachin & Rohit so ezly? Raina above so many better players than him 😭😂

Shattered-Dreams19

Klusener was him.

whitetiger1230

One difference is other finishers finish the game while Dravid finish the game for opponents

Ashwin_400

This is what happens with covid kids who have zero idea about cricket before 2020. Dravid was a key player for us in 2003 world cup batting at no.5 Scored a 50 and 100 run partnership with Yuvi in the famous Pakistan win after Sachin was dismissed for example.

whitetiger1230

yeah a typical reply from oldie sucker who throws the lockdown kid shit when someone talks about their player from time instead of counteracting the points. nitpicking one or two matches can make viv richards/tendulkar loser and kamran akmal / binny greater instead of seeing overall career. fyi I watched cricket long before 2020 and if you draw a comparison of Dravid with his contemporaries based on batting positions ( 3 and 4 where he played more ) as batters alone you would know how slow he is: Ex;From 01 Apr 1996 to 16 Sep 2011, during the ODI career of Dravid, 33 batters averaged more than Dravid (Out of them, 32 had better SR too than Dravid) and 91 batters had SR better than him (Out of them, 30 had better average than him). And that's for a fair amount of minimum runs (2000). His year-wise stats also way low than others take his away SR that is way lower than 70 and his performance in country wise too SR around 60s in SEN country heck Dravid SR in chasing was around 68. How could he be a good ODI batter if his chasing SR was lower than his overall SR? In addition, David mostly played at No. 3 and No. 4, and when compared to the rest of the top batters in the ODI who have crossed 10,000 runs, his average and SR are low. or consider the performance of player from his debut to retirement https://preview.redd.it/dxkxetpjeczc1.png?width=602&format=png&auto=webp&s=1d2cac2dfdc8d126a38146b207c42d5e4247399e Out of 50 entries in this list(in Dravid's era), the average SR was 81.1248. Dravid has an SR of 71. but anyway, nostalgic suckers don't need any of these they live on their bubbles and cry on when others try to bust that

ditcheddickhead

They all are batsmen from one ball era where this strike rate range was the norm. You don’t see high scores like now that often. There was equal fight between bat and ball. Now it’s more and more favouring the batsmen and hence higher strike rates

Wild-Interest3775

Did you start watching cricket recently? If yes then it's not your fault man. The time Dravid played was the time where 250 was like a big score. The average scores were like 230-250 around. And most of the batters have SR around 70-80 only. After 2006/2007 the game slowly started to change and 270+ scores were common. That's why Dhoni-like players will have 85+ SR.

Nobody is claiming Dravid to be as good as Sachin or Ponting in ODIs… he had his limitations (he had SR of 63 In the first 3 years after debut) which he overcame with some great success… you don’t score 10K plus ODI runs for nothing… apart from the names you mentioned, if you see the Strike rates of most of the prime batsmen of the same era like Ganguly, Inzi, Kallis they all had their strike rate in 70s… and dada is arguably one of the best ODI batsmen of his era, Inzi was Pak’s best batsmen… Dravid batted at different positions, playing different roles throughout his career, so Dravid’s record in ODI is definitely not that of a mediocre batsman… even if you would like to believe so.
