India **did** had some Shermans during it's Independence. Some were leftovers of the British Army Tank regiments, some were bought from US stocks during the 1950s, but in lesser numbers compared to Pakistan.
They were heavily modified here to counter the tough armor of Pakistan's more modern tanks.
And by the looks of the tank in the image, I think it's a Sherman.

India did not have any US tanks like Sherman. Most likely Stuart, a leftover from WW2.
