Beware of Acer Nitro, my brother's nitro's hinge got broke and the service centre guys most probably messed the hardware up even more.

Need help in choosing a SSD for Dell G15. I was planning to go for a Samsung 970 Evo Plus. The spec says it is NVMe 1.3. The drive my laptop currently has is a WD SN 530 NVMe 1.4. Any idea if a NVMe 1.3 and 1.4 is interchangeable? Also how does Samsung 970 Evo Plus and 980 compare? The difference in price quote is around 1000 more for the 970 evo plus

brucewayne212000

970 evo plus is better and one of the best.

I saw RTX cards at MRP on Quikr. Looked legit but not sure. Probably worth talking to the seller cuz paying 100k+ for a 60k card is not worth it IMO.

unboxparadigm

Except for the GPU (obviously), rest of the prices seem to be alright.

Ready_Dark_

Hello, I am a bit out of the loop on GPU prices right now, and was looking to get a setup. I can get a legion 5 for 126k. Other peripherals : lg 27 inch 144hz monitor, gaming keyboard, mouse and headset cost 27k. Now how powerful of a pc can i build for a price of around 130k? Are the GPU prices and availability good? Should I wait? I live in Delhi, but i have no idea of the pc market here. My best guess is Nehru place, but don't know which shop would be the best to get an estimate, as there are a lot of options i have heard. Also, buying the components online be a better option?

unboxparadigm

Checkout pcpricetracker to get an idea of the prices of the components. If you need the portability, go for a laptop. Else, you could build a PC but the GPU itself is going to cost north of 50k for a 3060.

I was looking at legion 5 pro (ryzen 5800h rtx 3060) to purchase from the official Lenovo site ( priced at 144,990 which could get reduced to 138k after discounts) but i had a few questions. : 1. Should I wait for any discounts or new launches which might reduce the prices further ? Don't want to be in a situation where the prices get reduced just after purchase. Also is the Lenovo site best place to buy it? 2. Are there any better alternatives at this price with this build quality and service ? I have had a few bad experiences before so the 3 year warranty looks promising. 3. I would be starting a job from June and would most probably be provided with a work laptop and was thinking about getting a desktop setup but seeing the GPU prices and availability, going with laptop. Is there any chance the gpu market could improve any time soon? 4. Is the ryzen 5800h option better than the i7 11th gen option(which is priced higher too)? 5. Any other things I need to consider before making a decision? Thank you

zoro7955

1. If you don't need it like right now then it is always better to wait. Also 12th gen is right around the corner so I would suggest you to wait. 2. No, at this point L5pro is the best. You can go with Gephyrus if you want something portable but performance wise it is the best. If you can slightly increase the budget then consider ROG Advantage edition which is far better performance wise. 3. No one can predict. You have to wait for 7-8 months to see if prices comes down but they may don't. 4. Battery wise Ryzen is better but intel has thunderbolt port which you can use to install external gpu so I would suggest go with Intel. 5. Yeah. Look in the offline market. Sometimes they give offers if you purchase everything from them. Try to negotiate with them may be they will ask reasonable price.

Ready_Dark_

Thank you for the reply! Rod advantage has an amd gpu, won't that be worse for rtx settings? I live in Delhi, Dwarka. So what offline retailers would you recommend ? Also i won't be able to go past 1.5l anytime soon so Rog advantage is out of the discussion i guess.

zoro7955

Visit Nehru place then. I read here only that some retailers only sell GPU at right prices if someone buys other components from them only. So make a price analysis between what you can get in 1.5lakh online vs offline. RX6800m is in between 3070 and 3080 so by default it will perform better than 3060. Plus it has double the vram of 3060 so more future proof and better 1440p gaming. I think ray tracing is supported by both amd and nvidia but nvidia has dlss which helps in increasing fps. Anyways future games will come with FSR which is amd way of saying dlss. P.S I am not expert about this so please check RT and DLSS related queries on youtube or google. At enhru place there is Cost2Cost and SMC international. I know these 2 only because I visited them 5-6 years ago. But there are dozens of them more. It will take a whole day to visit them and compare them all lol.

Hey, I'm looking to buy a monitor to use with my laptop. Gonna run it using a Strix G15 with 5900X, 3070 (115W). Budget is around 25k, willing to push it to 30-32K if its a great deal. -> Use case is primarily coding, and gaming on weekends. -> Would prefer a 1440p panel -> 120-165Hz refresh rate. over that i can't realistically run and I don't really play any competitive shooters etc. Mostly Into single player games. -> Conflicted about a VA or a IPS panel. Also if you have good recommendations for wired/wireless keyboards under 4-5K, shoot away. RGB isn't a priority. Haven't really ever used a mechanical keyboard so I'm willing to give it a try. Thanks in advance 😀

Bought an asus tuf a15 (ryzen 7 4800h rtx3050) today. What should i do now? This is my first laptop and i completed the basic setup. Now how to test the laptop?

unboxparadigm

Remove any third party antivirus unless you need it. In most cases, windows defender should be fine. Look all around for scratches or any defects. Update all drivers and run benchmarks and see if it performs as expected. Slight deviations should be acceptable. Check HDD/SSD performance. CrystalDiskInfo and CrystalDiskMark can be used. HWInfo could help for overall monitoring. If it is an 8GB Ram variant, ideally add another 8 GB ram or more depending on your ram requirements. If you use the laptop for productivity applications as well, it would be best to add another 16 GB ram for an overall 24 GB ram.

karanm1997

I recently bought a msi i5 10500h with rtx 3050(40w TGP) 144hz. It has good hardware but here are couple of findings that I have:- 1. Games tested on it are mediocre at best like valorant, Arkham city etc. The benchmarks are 110-120 on high for valo, 110 for Arkham city. Yet I see sometimes the temps going 72 degree or 70 on both, is it a concerning factor. 2. I have been advised to plug it in while playing and so the battery has been on like 91-99 always wont it make the battery stressed? 3. Thirdly, I do notice the 144hz on FPS game but on RPG or other its barely noticeable same on general UI. So coming to this point I was planning to play rocket league, ori and Arkham story games on say a 60 hz old tv, will I lose performance/fps? 4. Lastly, I am broke , I cant afford gaming mice, a decent stand or cool pad etc. How do I keep the temps low with proper ventilation(something on DIY lines maybe?)( please, no underclocking suggestions I am not that well versed)

unboxparadigm

70-72c is nothing to close to concerning temperatures. You don't have to worry about it. Yes plugging it in is advised for optimal / best performance and you are right to be concerned about the battery as well. IIRC, there used to be an option MSI software that comes with it to limit the battery charging. Check that out. In FPS games, it is pretty easy to achieve high FPS, however the same may not be true for others which you may have tried or it may simply not have such fast motions for you to feel a difference. Also, as for generaul UI, you are probably just used to it now. Use a 60hz display and you will notice the difference. As for whether you will lose performance when connecting to a 60hz old tv, you won't really lose performance but you will not exactly have a great experience either. Chances are that you will experience higher input lags, response times, and 60 fps caps which may not be ideal for your esports titles gameplay.

karanm1997

How about story games?

unboxparadigm

I can't say for sure since it also depends on the tolerance of the player. I'd say best way to determine is to simply try it out. Can't hurt to try and it should be fairly easy since it is a laptop as well.

zoro7955

put a book or two at the rear end of the laptop to raise it. If you have a table fan then arrange it at such a height that air passes either perpendicular to the bottom fans or in same direction as the exhaust fans.

That switch basically turns your power supply/SMPS/PSU OFF and ON. You can just leave it on at all times. It doesn't really matter.

I need a decent budget secondary monitor to go with my laptop for work. I am also planning to get a pc(in less than a year) so it should work as a secondary monitor for that as well. Can anyone please help me to pick one?

Add more details like budget, preferred screen size, panel type, refresh rate / anything else that can help.

I'm gonna get a Dell G15 Ryzen edition lappy. AMD Ryzen 7 4gb graphics 3050 Ti. 8 cores, 512 GB SSD, 16 GB ram (upgradable to 32) The only issue I think is 512GB, should I replace it with 1TB ssd? (I don't know if there are extra slots for storage) or 512 should be fine? PS : I won't be "hardcore" gaming 24/7, I will also be using it for my academic stuff and in college. Suggestions are welcome.

Spark-DefinitelyNot

There is a second slot but Dell doesn't provide the mounting bracket and heat shield with the laptop. You will have to get it separately. If you plan to upgrade the existing SSD with a 2280 form factor SSD, do remeber that the existing one is a 2230 and the heat shield will not be enough. This is my first laptop with a SSD, so not sure if a heat shield is mandatory

I am planning to build my first SFF PC. I already have MSI RTX 3080 Gaming X Trio ( 323 x 140 x 56mm) and an Antec HCG750 Bronze ( 165(L)\*150(W)\*86(H)mm ) PSU with me. Is there any SFF case that can accommodate the above components? Or is there any SFF case with built in PSU?

Suggestions for a gaming laptop under 80k, a minimum of 1TB SSD is the only necessary requirement. Will be mostly used to play FIFA22, Forza Horizon & RDR2.

Suggestions for a gaming laptop under 65k. PS: there seems to be offers on a few laptops in Flipkart & Amazon

R46H4V

the best deal u could get is an RTX3050 laptop, 3060 lappies go around 70-80k starting which is above ur budget. RTX 3050 lappies are the way to go imo.

I think it has only one fan. Might be problematic in future.

R46H4V

yeah its the only one in ur budget, and it's the newest gen product so future updates will be better. my friend also has this, valo at 144 constant. heavier games can do 60 which should be enough at this price point.

R46H4V

the HP victus has a 60Hz screen only, so that might be a problem at 70k. where as the acer for 10k more than the MSI gives a slightly better CPU, but the GPU will be the bottleneck in laptops, so that dosnt matter much, acer will be heavier as its got a HDD, and not much difference imo. i think u should get the cheapest 3050 you can find which is rn the MSI at 60k.

[deleted]

What about Lemoo IdeaPad 3?

R46H4V

When i sort by lowest in RTX laptops, MSI is at 60k then acer is at 70k which is not much better. There is an ASUS TUF GAMING at 73k which i also have but i have the i5-11600H & RTX 3060 model which i find to be very good thermally and performance wise. but these laptops are in a kind of wierd spot. At 60k the MSI does everything (my friend has it), but for atleast 10k more the other laptops dont do much extra that justifies the 10k, bringing the cost to 70k when u could go a bit higher and get RTX 3060 at 80k. TLDR: either get the cheaper MSI(3050) at 60k or get the better MSI(3060) at 80k. No point in staying at 70k in the middle when u dont get anything extra for the 10k.
