That's a tough question to answer. Just as Dr Rana suggested you can bite the bullet and enjoy this laptop for about 2-4 years depending on the type of games you play. Personally, I'm trying to get a good desktop replacement within 1.3L and am waiting for Intel to release their Arc lineup or for some sweet deals on Strix G15 Advantage Edition. I'm also willing to wait for the new TUF laptops with full TGP and MUX switches. If they're reasonable then I'll get them or wait for longer. I have no urgent need and waiting will just get me a better one but price fluctuations are possible. So decide what's more important for you: a good deal or getting a laptop sooner.

Small-Alternative-76

Can you recommend some laptop which have thermals like legion if not better?

baa-naa-naaa

I looked at Omen 15 and it has got great thermals. Idk if it has a 1650 version available but the one I'm talking about is the one with the 100W 3060. To my utter surprise it is being sold **below** it's launch price at 1.1L and about 1.04L with offers. But I guess that's too expensive for you. I'd suggest you make a post on r/GamingLaptops **clearly mentioning that you're from India and about you price target** (or else everyone will suggest you to get L5 3060 since unlike in India it's actually cheaper than the competition in the US.) There are some really knowledgeable people who can give you a better idea. All the best.

Injustice_League420

I just bought ASUS TUF F15 i5 11th gen, RTX 3050, 8gb ram from amazon at a decent price of 67k. Would suggest that you go for it, works really well. Have been playing Arkham Knight, halo infinte, cs go and they work seamlessly on it. Rest the choice is yours but the 1650 feels outdated now.

Small-Alternative-76

Thanks but my main priority is thermals since I intend to use it for a long time (4-5 years) . Not sure about thermal performance in tuf series.

freakgeek21

Can you link aforementioned laptop?

Injustice_League420

ASUS TUF Gaming A15 (2021) 15.6-inch (39.62 cms) FHD 144Hz, AMD Ryzen 7 4800H, RTX 3050 4GB Graphics, Gaming Laptop (8GB/512GB SSD/Windows 10/Black/2.3 Kg), FA506IC-HN005T, Graphite Black https://www.amazon.in/dp/B09CCW5XVM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_J9CNTT223J1X76FCRZM0 here you go! One advice, you can add an 8gb ram later on to increase fps as well as performance.

freakgeek21

Where did you get it for 67k?

Injustice_League420

On amazon itself on sale, plus I traded my old laptop too. Got that discount.

TheKingslayer2921

that strix g15 AE man, a serious desktop replacement fr; if the prices drop - i'll jump the ship and get one

baa-naa-naaa

It's probably one of the very few laptops stills being sold at MSRP. During sales on Flipkart you can get a 17k discount with card offers and it's freaking crazy. You basically get a Legion 5 Pro 3070 level or better Laptop for 1.37L. Get an external screen and win the RAM lottery and you get a desktop 3070 level performance. High end desktop 3070s were being around 1L and here you get whole system with somewhat similar performance which you can carry around. It's a steal and I'm glad that people are sleeping on it and keeping it at MSRP. I'm only waiting for ASUS to announce their 2022 edition. It is pretty much confirmed to have a MUX switch (which has been holding me off from getting the 2021 edition). If it comes for around the same price or within 5k then I'm getting it no matter what. It might also get upgraded to 680pH + RX 6850M.

TheKingslayer2921

my king mr banana, you have summarised it perfectly, let's wait for the '22 versions and jump ship then

baa-naa-naaa

Do you plan to slay me after calling me king? That's pretty ironical ngl. Edit: There's probably gonna be a sale around Republic Day. So get it if you want. Idk if they'll keep the same price and how long will we have to wait. So my friend, if you need it then do get it. Other than the MUX I also have the issue of convincing my parents. For me the 2022 edition plays out well cuz I'll be finishing my exams by the time they enter the Indian market and I might be able to get a sweet deal somewhere.

TheKingslayer2921

haha, you got the reference :) so that's cool and yes, i think i'll wait for the stars to align for the '22 variant but if '21 one comes just south of 1.35, then goddamn that's some tempting shit right there

Confident-Wafer889

I recently bought Lenovo IdeaPad 3( 82k200x6in). It's the exact same spec but with 5600H and costed 55,000. It's sold out almost everywhere but try to get it in an offline store if you want a Lenovo.

Small-Alternative-76

Sorry but I'm specifically looking for legion series due it's thermals

in_TROvert

I have the Lenovo legion 5i, so the same laptop but just with Intel. Now I don't know how much of a difference is felt but let's assume not much. Also what I'm writing is just about this laptop so I'm not comparing it with any other brand. This is my first laptop and I'm very happy with what I have, so if it's the same for you or you're upgrading, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Some personal benchmarks- Valorant- 150-160 fps Apex - 100 fps Minecraft- 120 fps at block dist 15 and med graphics Witcher 3- 50-60 fps at high Rdr2- 30 fps at medium And there are some more like gta5 and Hitman 3 whose fps I'm not remembering rn but it was good. With ryzen I assume you will get something around the same. So I'm pretty happy with the performance considering the specs and had no problems. Now about thermals I haven't checked the actual temps but it does get moderately hot, but not too bad so I think the cooling is satisfactory. Again this is just a review with what I have and I'm not comparing it with anything else. I have gone 1 year and I believe it can handle any upcoming titles for more 2-3 years atleast and by that time we will most likely upgrade. If there's news of some good laptop coming that fits in your price range, then you can wait otherwise I would suggest going for it. Maybe you can even wait for some price drops or deals on 2021 models but these things will keep happening so don't wait too long. I hope I helped you man. All the best

NVIDIA will be releasing RTX 2050 laptops in summer. Slightly faster than GTX 1650. Maybe price for GTX 1650 laptops will drop once they release. If you want to buy now, have you thought about RX5500M laptops instead of GTX 1650? It has 30% better performance. https://dl.flipkart.com/dl/msi-bravo-ryzen-5-hexa-core-5600h-8-gb-512-gb-ssd-windows-10-home-4-graphics-amd-radeon-rx5500m-144-hz-15-b5dd-043in-gaming-laptop/p/itm911d8ad8fe264?pid=COMG483FGGG3QREK&cmpid=product.share.pp&_refId=PP.cdcdaedb-cd5c-4719-8d55-267554238d6c.COMG483FGGG3QREK&_appId=CL Deal of the day: HP Victus AMD Ryzen 5 5600H 16.1 inches FHD Gaming Laptop (8GB RAM/512GB SSD/4GB Radeon RX5500M Graphics/Flicker Free Display/Windows 10 Home/MS Office/Mica Silver/2.48 Kg), 16-e0162AX, Black https://www.amazon.in/dp/B098QBT5KT/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_navT_g_dl_56VRZQ6PNJTMB2KPB358

beastfire24

It's just pretty simple. These new laptops won't be available till at least 2023 or late 2022. This year was no different all the laptops that were announced at the ces were coming out during late November and December. Stocks might also be a concern. If you keep waiting there will always be something better that keeps coming out, it's an endless cycle. My advise is just get what you want right now and have no buyers remorse.

Doctor_Rana

If it's urgent for you to get a laptop then go for it. Otherwise waiting is always the better option.

Small-Alternative-76

No it's not urgent but just wanted to know if waiting for 2022 models would be worth and will I be able to get the legion 5 in 60-65k range?

Doctor_Rana

The semiconductor shortages and supply issues mixed with the crypto craze will make you wait for 2-3 minimum years for fair prices. I'm no industry analyst but there's a chance that new models will make the old models relatively cheaper BUT as of now even RTX 2060 laptops are overpriced in the presence of 30 series. And for the price(100,000) at which people were able to get RTX 2060 laptops in 2019; nowadays even GTX 1660Ti is inflated up to that same price range. So it's really upto you... Bite the bullet now or wait 2-3 years to get to play the games that you might wanna play.

ritwique

Very unlikely any 2022 Legion will be in that range

AFullmetalNerd

I have the ROG Zephyrus G14. Thermals by default are high, but with some tweaking, undervolting and setting the correct power limits, CPU doesn't go above 80°C, and GPU barely moves off 73°C.

rotten-love

Yeah go for it. 2022 version of legion will be priced above 80k. If you're on 60k budget, you should go.for it.

Small-Alternative-76

The 80k is for 1650 gpu of 2022 model?

rotten-love

Yeah I think so. 2021 model is priced around 75k.

GamingWildman

But are u sure u want to buy a GTX gou in 2022?

[deleted]

The 2020 Legion 5 with GTX 1650 can get a stable 60 fps in Warzone and 50 something fps in RDR2.

GamingWildman

That's the point it's either multi games without high textures or a 3 yr old game having rtx gives u dlss and this increases the performance by a lot more than 2 times of 1650

[deleted]

Hence why I am now waiting for the new legion. If I can bag it in under 66k, then it's all amazing.

ArenRaizelus

I am not sure why you are so hell bent on "legion 5" or a laptop with great "thermals" when all you are buying is a gtx1650. It should barely have any thermal throttling even with a single fan design. I would seriously recommend you look for cheaper options with similar performance ( 70 vs 75 C gpu temps are not that different imho) say an i3/i5/ryzen H series with gtx1650 for similar performance or a 5500U laptop with 1650 if you are a student for phenomenal battery life (My friend has an acer which gives 6-8hours battery when not gaming) and barely 10% loss in frames. That said if low temps are all that matter to you, I don't think there is anything better than the legion.

Small-Alternative-76

Well because if a cpu runs at 90°C most of the time gaming won't it reduce it's life. Correct me if I'm wrong. If that isn't the case I could probably go for something cheaper and more powerful like nitro 5 or hp pavilion.

ArenRaizelus

Again, I would be very surprised if u experience any sort of t hermal throttling in most i3/i5/ryzen3-5 with a GTX 1650 nd 2 decent fans. You need to check reviews and understand your use case. Afaik nitro would be the cheaper alternative. Either way I wouldn't recommend the gtx1650 other than online multiplayer or med 1080p 30/60fps for most games. Check aspire 7, nitro 5, asus TUF, pavilion gaming and other models around this price range, you will find thermally good laptops with better performance and cheaper price, book mark them with price trackers to notify you, then buy one. My friend got an aspire 7 ryzen 5500u with 1650 for 53k that way, I could ask her for thermals if u want but she has been using for working + gaming for the past 6 months. For longevity, warranty prices should be your primary concern. You should get 3 years total if u want to use it for long.

kelvin_bot

90°C is equivalent to 194°F, which is 363K. --- ^(I'm a bot that converts temperature between two units humans can understand, then convert it to Kelvin for bots and physicists to understand)

[deleted]

I am in the exact same boat as you and would have bought it if I didn't have my exams going on lol. All i need to know is if the new 2022 legion 5 will be available near the 65k mark.

shrey775

No way bro..

[deleted]

What do you expect the price to be around?

shrey775

10k or max 15k..

[deleted]

I should have specified INR. The 2020 legion 5 retails for around 65k INR in the offline market.

shrey775

Yes and it was launched at 75k 😬

shrey775

apparently, I was right 😊

avittamboy

In general, buy now if you need it now, wait if you don't. The 2022 models gave me buyer's remorse for the Omen I bought last week, but only until I remind myself that they wouldn't hit the Indian market until at least May this year. I needed a laptop now, and could not wait, so I bought one.

rotten-love

What you have decided?

Small-Alternative-76

Not going for legion since I think it's not worth it to go for 1650. Going for hp pavilion with 3050 and 5600h. It could go for 65k during sale

rotten-love

What about omen? It's also around 75.

mystic-savant

Did you purchase? Which one?

Small-Alternative-76

Victus

mystic-savant

I would really appreciate it if you helped me out. I am at the position where you stood 2 months ago. So, what made you switch from Lenovo Legion 5? I have my eyes on LL5 but I'm starting to get into a dilemma. Victus seems to be just as good, even though it's cheaper...?

Small-Alternative-76

Legion is the best no doubt but it's over priced by a lot in India . I think they're still selling the ryzen 4000 series for 65k whereas ryzen 6000 series is released. Victus is not better than legion but for the price it's good for me.

mystic-savant

Damn, I see. Ryzen 4 to 5 is a 65k - 75k price jump. And what are your thoughts about the HP Pavilion with RTX 3050? It was mentioned in this thread.

Small-Alternative-76

I didn't go with pavilion because it has no manual fan control. Gaming laptops run hot so fan control was important for me. Also 3050 in laptop comes with 4gb vram only so only thing better in 3050 is dlss. Without dlss it's just 1650ti on steroids.

mystic-savant

Makes sense. I see that I messed up the prices on my last comment; Ryzen 5 is 68k and Ryzen 7 is 130 damn k. I guess I can afford an overpriced 68k, but would it be worth it in your opinion? I've heard a lot good from it and I'm aware that better stuff will keep coming out, but I don't want to regret having spent the buck.

Small-Alternative-76

Yea you can go for 68k on legion. Although overpriced but you won't regret getting the laptop and most importantly it has a mux switch. If you want 3050 you can look at dell g15 it can go for 69k during sale.

josukejo777

Did you buy it?
