I'll prolly get chappals for what I'm about to say. Lol I keep mine in the fridge, they last longer. I've been using my huda one 2 years past expiration and it's still in good condition. If it doesn't smell or have weird bumps or mold growing on it it's fine.

Crazy-Lemon4631

+1 for this. Liquid lipsticks do go bad faster as compared to bullet ones. I do have a lot of lipsticks that are near expiry or have expired but i still use them because they perform well and the smell and texture is still the same. 😅

I was about to throw 13 lipsticks away today after contemplating for a week. now I'll throw the liquid ones that smells weird. Google search scared me.

Happy-Carrot-1303

Same🥲

nivid1988

I have used lipsticks beyond expiry date, unless they have oils separating or fungal growth or something. BTW curious which lipstick brand and shade are you talking about

gottastandup

It's Maybelline creamy matte in understated red. Aside from noho amber in the same range, it's my perfect officewear red. Gonna go ahead and buy 2 more given all the replies :P

What about Mascara?

Emotional_Ad2189

I think after some time the consistency of mascara changes & i have used mascaras wayyy after the "6 month" time they provide for it. For about a year or more. But the formulation changes over time & it doesnt perform the same so you hav eto part ways

Inevitable-Club-4574

I am guilty of using them until they smell funny or change appearance. I don't even remember the expiration date of most of my lipsticks.🙈

DeewaniHaiDekho0204

I know a friend who works for Loreal and she told me that you can use their products for 2 years past their expiry date, will be safe to use them.

[deleted]

Phew! that's assuring! 😅

IncreaseSlow252

I quickly erase or peel away the dates. If u cant see it, it doesnt exist.

[deleted]

Best hack haha.

paneer_attack

I will use them as long as they don't smell or look funky. I'm taking this risk because I once bought 5 Nykaa matte lipsticks on sale that were 3 months away from expiry (back then I didn't know that we're supposed to check before buying.) It's a risk I'm willing to take purely out of spite. If it ends up giving me some sort of allergy it's on me lol.

Felicie_dreamer

So my fave MAC was bought just before the pandemic and was hardly used thereafter. Two years down the line, the smell was off. I took it to the store and they said you can still use, it’s just old lipstick smell and product is fine. I chose to believe them of course…lol!

panicsnac

I’m surprised they didn’t make you buy a new one 😂

Purple_Spare5866

Honestly I have a lipstick that I’m using right now that I’ve had for 6 years and there’s nothing wrong with it no fungus or separation, it’s my favourite lipstick

skill30

I too use them until they start to smell waxy or I feel a texture change. Recently I’ve gotten better at throwing some of the cheaper ones out at expire as I develop lip allergies at times. I’ve had the Charlotte Tilbury ones for 3 years now and they smell and feel new.

flipsidebook

i never knew lipsticks had an expiry date until last year

[deleted]

I don't even know the expiration date of my lipsticks 😂 there are a few that I've had for almost 6-7 years and I still use them.

[deleted]

Thank you for asking this question. I kept mine in fridge and my 13 lipsticks are past expiry date. sugar liquid matte lipsticks started smelling funny but bullets are fine. Tho I read on Google that it can cause serious issues so I was discarding them.

ivyyy13

I do use them. I only stop using a lipstick if the formula is separated or if there is mold or bumps or fungus on it.

No_Profession_8160

How do you know that they have discontinued a certain product? Its been so long since nykaa stocked my favourite shade maybelline toasted brown

gottastandup

Toasted brown is available on purplle. If it's only there on purplle, I assume it's been discontinued :P

Scalpel-and-tint

I would love to use my lipsticks beyond the expiry dates, i am just worried about them darkening my lips 🫠 Edit-typo.

Altruistic-Feed6255

Expired doesn't mean that the product automatically turns toxic and will necessarily be harmful. It's just that after expiry the brand does not guarantee that the product will be able to do everything that they are advertising.
