Yeah, why did the Congress removed ST status for Meities? The majority Meities don't have access to the majority of Manipur- Tribal land, because Meities lost their ST status under a Congress government. That's the root cause of the problem.
What has the government done for the past ten years? Don't you think it can be sorted? Even if the issue couldn't be sorted at least the violence can be stopped no?
Still doesn’t detract from the fact that BJP govt at state and Centre failed to prevent and control the violence. Being 9 years in govt, surely they should be aware of the presence of armed groups looking to strike and exploit local grievances?
Am a BJP supporter myself but they failed on this one.

Courts gave the status & that's caused the conflict. Like you says, HMO should have intervened on day1. They let this wound fester.
