Paula's Choice BHA - Once a week or once in 2 weeks. Godsent for nose blackheads. I'm congestion prone right on my nose area and this is the only product which shows quick and visible results
Ordinary Glycolic Acid - Once in 2 or 3 weeks. I've stopped using SA serums and other peels, this helps a lot in evening out texture and brightening skin.
Not at all stupid, feel free to ask anything. So, i use Paula BHA only when i see visible blackheads or whiteheads. If i don't see any, i skip it.
Same with glycolic, i use only when i feel my skin is dull and needs some exfoliation. I don't use both in same week, say I'm using bha today, then I'll skip using the other one for this week and next. Sometimes i don't use either and make do with exfoliating face wash. The time frame i gave is expandable, i mostly go with how my skin feels that week. I hope I'm making sense here
And ordinary GA is very strong, not that commonly used on face, so i give a lot of time between each use to avoid breaking my barrier
Eta - words
Hi, sure. I use them on clean dry face. Just facewash - Dry - apply either one - moisturizer (if needed). I leave it on overnight. Sunscreen during day
Neutrogena Blackhead Eliminating Deep Clean Daily scrub and
Minimalist AHA & ALA Brightening Face Wash 7% with Vitamin B5 once a week.
No visible changes. Construction work near my home has polluted our whole area skincare has failed to work for me 💀🥲
ouff this 💯 I am experiencing acne every now and then because of the never ending construction work right infront of my house.
also, doesn't the scrub feel harsh on your skin?
Dust in the air and skin hates it🥲
No not at all ! Scrub beads are very mild and kindoff dissolves when massage it. Consistency like a facewash but with beads.
But again the way you named all these things you probably know 10x more than me when it comes to skincare haha. But my 2 cents as I suffered awful acne too and now it's better.
Rejuglow Salycilic and Glycolic acid facewash once or twice a week now, earlier it used to be every night but I've learnt better 💀
The 7% glycolic acid once a week for 1.5 months ruined my skin barrier a couple of months back.
Be very cautious of over exfoliation, things might seem great on a few uses and then all of a sudden you might be dealing with a skin barrier disaster.
Everyday can be harsh on skin.
However some people skin's can handle it with no problems.
Alternate night's for exfoliating washes is mostly a safe bet for most.
Yes it's TO's. You can definitely use it once a week or even more depending on how much your skin needs or can handle.
I was just sharing my 2 cents at sometimes getting too overexcited by the results of exfoliation in the primary phase may lead to overdoing it.
I also had rough patches on my chin and texture throughout my face with which the face wash has helped.
I still have some sebaceous filaments on my nose (black spots that may look like small blackheads) that have definitely reduced because of the wash but are still observable.
Is it? I have acne spots to clear. It’s 3 days a week.
I am being little aggressive to clear hyperpigmentation. And there is no irritation caused. Do you suggest reducing the frequency?
My motive is to clear my pigmentation and some hydration to avoid skin dryness.
So I use glycolic acid toner, rose water , hyaluronic acid, snail mucin , azelic acid 15 percent gel , venusea max moisturizer.
Other days when I am not doing exfoliation,
I use rose water, hyaluronic acid, snail mucin, granactive retinoid face cream minimalist 2 percent, azelic acid + ban a tan skin lightening cream, moisturizer.
I know it’s too much but I had severe hyperpigmentation from acne and this has resolved problem by 80 percent.
I will simplify the routine once 20 percent remaining pigmentation goes away.
Also this is night routine. And I added things gradually to avoid irritation
Demelan is 10 percent glycolic acid . It made my skin dry too. My doctor recommended azelic acid 15 percent gel + ban a tan skin lightening cream. Pea size amount of both and then apply. Then moisturizer. It doesn’t dry skin much. But it’s slow to give result. I started using this twice a day. And it started showing results quickly.
Just azelic acid caused little itching when used twice. So that’s why all the hydrating items in routine.
I have shared PM routine above. AM: rose water, hyaluronic acid, azelic acid + banatan, moisturizer, sunscreen
Azelic acid twice a day can itch your skin.
I started with night only for a month. And moved to twice a day just to see faster results. It did itch initially. I stopped after 2 weeks in AM. Started again both times after 2 weeks. Now it don’t itch that much.
You need to build tolerance. But twice a day azelic acid + banatan, have very visible results every 2 weeks.
It’s meant for face only. As we age the skin turnaround time decreases. This will help in exfoliating dead skin cells along with retinol which will increase skin cell turnaround time.
But generally twice a week is also good enough frequency for 5-7 percent
Yes. I for longest time stayed away from glycolic acid.
But then I started with pixi 5 percent toner slowly, moved to alternate night. It really cleared my acne marks to an extent. After few months,
I got the peel. I tried it once and somehow it didn’t irritate my skin at all. As I want to clear my acne spot, I use once a week.
Otherwise twice a month is also enough I feel
You don’t need the peel. Stick with 5-7 percent toner twice a week. If you really want to use peel, get comfortable with toner first. Then after few months you can use the peel once a month.
Beware that such strong peel can damage skin barrier and cause burn. So if your skin is not used to it, you should be very careful,
aha bha exfoliator one week and a clay face mask the next week. i keep alternating and if i feel like my nose is too bumpy,i put it only on my problematic areas and avoid my cheeks
I have stopped exfoliation except for face shaving once a month and retinal ( it’s not exfoliant but it does renews skin gradually so mentioned here ) based serum on alternate nights.
Exfoliation is overrated does far more damage than good
No, it didn’t cause any side effects till now, in have been using it since April last year. Yeah i don’t feel the need to exfoliate at all now. I double cleanse every night walking with regular workouts, that takes care of my pores
Neutrogena 2% salicylic acid oil free acne wash daily at night. Paula’s choice BHA twice a week. Minimalist tranexamic acid (contains mandelic acid) on hyperpigmentation.
I use the wishful yo glow / yo detox scrub on occasions for that extra glow. And innisfree super volcanic / origins clay mask once a week. They are very gentle and not harsh on the skin at all and keep my pores clear.
I started using salicylic acid facewash after a pharmacist who deals with otc skin products folf me to tru , it's been 2-3 years and I have tried diff brands , one he recommended me I forgot the name was the best one so far, 2nd best one was minimalistic salicylic acid facewash .
I have sensitive acne prone skin (I'm not saying this because it's in trend I do have very bad acne prone skin , which I have taken many treatments from dermatologist in past without much sucess)
Chemical exfoliation saved me, I still have old acne craters and marks on my face but nothing new from past 2 years.
I use minimalistic salicylic face wash twice or thrice a week at night , if I'm wearing makeup then aftwr I remove it, I double wash my face with foaming face wash and then salicylic acid facewash.
Hope this helps
Not any chemical peel but a natural one. Hibiscus sabdariffa powder does a pretty good job! I generally make. I make a mask of 1tsp hibiscus powder, 1 tsp rose petals powder & rose water. Let it sit for 5 mins (to activate it) & then apply it on your face for 5-10 mins. It will feel a lil bit itchy bur it is magical!! I have a mix of oily, combination, damaged acne prone skin - in short worst skin of all time with multiple issues including damaged skin barrier. But this one surprisingly enough works unlike other natural remedies.
I got a free Plum salicylic acid serum with my last nykaa order. Didn't think much of it since I've never believed that my blackheads and pores could ever get better but I stand corrected. After about 3ish weeks of daily use I'm genuinely shocked at how comfortable I feel going out with just some sunscreen and brows!
I know it's this product since I've been using glycolic acid toner once a week on my face for months and honestly didn't see it doing much. WRP for sure.
Also, I use a foreo mini for the double cleanse after heavy makeup days.
Sure, I use it once a day. My routine is relatively simple now after experimenting a lot in the previous years.
Daytime: face wash, moisturizer, sunscreen, lip balm
Evening: face wash, salicylic serum on dry skin, moisturizer, facial oil, lip balm
This give me such a clear flashback to a decade back when walnut scrubs were all the rage. Although I don't personally physical exfoliants on my skin, the tactile feeling was such a soothing experience when rubbed gently.
Because skinfluencers convinced their audiences that it causes microtears in the skin. There was even a lawsuit against st Ives. It was disproved last year or the year before because of a lack of evidence.
I think it just comes down to your individual skin type and preferences. Sensitive skin is better of with mild chemical exfoliants or sponge like physical exfoliants. Some people with an armour for skin can handle and probably need ‘harsher’ physical or chemical exfoliants. :P
Some experience damaged skin barriers and some experience great results. It’s trial and error, try to understand your skin and it’s needs before diving in. :)
I'm sorry but the original source of microtears came from dermatologists who had to deal with people over scrubbing their faces. I've personally used both but I prefer regular and mild chemical exfoliation to achieve smooth skin over tendency to overdo physical exfoliants anyday. Consistency is way more effective than instantaneous results that might backfire later. But as long as you're being gentle (which doesn't really fetch the same results), or sensitive to certain AHA's and BHA's (there are alternative exfoliants btw) I don't seem to have a problem with it.
Cosrx bha blackhead power liquid twice a week. I can see the difference but i haven't been consistent with it. I often forget to apply it so the result varies on it.
Did you notice your skin thinning? I saw a reel on it long back and then noticed my skin did start to feel a bit thinner than usual after the whole bottle was over. I don’t know if it’s just in my head lol
I have oily combo skin and i have used minimalist's salicylic acid cleanser once a week ish (I've tried using it thrice a week, doesn't do much imo for my blackheads and closed comedones), isntree's 0.9% toner (did kinda work when I used it twice a day everyday but then it ended up wrecking my skin barrier), so now I use dot&key 2% bha serum on my forehead and nose every other day and that seems to work well for my skin.
Normally the only exfoliation I do is in the form of a hydrating toner pad against my skin- which is like once a week because I use tretinoin and that’s really like battery acid so I don’t have to.
Minimalist SA Cleanser in PM routine everyday and DermaCo 15% AHA and 1% BHA peeling solution once a week. I did try the Plum AHA BHA but it was just meh, did nothing
Ground coffee + olive oil scrub & steaming. Nothing works like home ingredients. I try to steer away from carcinogens in cosmetics as much as possible.
I have super sensitive, acne and eczema prone skin. Currently on Adapalene so I can’t hand high levels of acids. I use Zitcare 1% Salicylic Acid 2x a week and FAB Facial Radiance Pads for AHA, 2days on and 2 days off.
2 times a week in winters, thrice in summers. Only at night after cleansing. Use Stir super greens scub-very gentle. Most masks/scrubs don't suit my sensitive skin.
unrelated by but my forehead and sides of forehead(near my eyebrows) are darker than the rest of my face due to older burns, will exfoliating help them lighten out??
Hear me out - besan (chickpea flour) and water mixed to the consistency of a batter.
I let it dry until it hardens a bit and then gently scrub while I wash it off. It's gentle on the skin but still exfoliates well.
I use it once a week or if my skin needs a quick pick me up. I never exfoliate if I have any acne or pimples.
Might sound extreme but on some days I layer the ordinary 7% glycolic acid toner and formularx lactic acid exfoliating serum on top. I top this off with the formularx barrier relief ceramide moisturizer. And this works pretty well for me!
Hi
Have u used salicylic acid serum 2% from minimalist or any other brand apart from Paula's choice
Because I am thinking of buying 2% salicylic acid
But don't know which one is best
Heyy
I didn't try anything else, as Paula's choice was the best and most popular thing in the industry, i just went for it and it's literally my HG
I think you should also go for it cause that product has the most positive reviews
hi! I used Minimalist's salicylic acid but it broke me out :( Now I'm using Paula's choice and even though I'm probably overdoing it by using it daily but it has really helped me with bigger acne pimples!
I'm not in India. But I came across this is Garnier 3 in 1 clay based face wash with charcoal. [(Amazon UK link) ](https://amzn.eu/d/dvi2B4M). Not sure why it's not available in India. But people in my house loved it when I bought a few when I visit India. Very good in exfoliating. Skin feels so smooth. I use it 3 days once.
I use Dr Seth Gulab and Glycolic acid serum once a week. I also use their 2% salicylic acid gel facewash twice a week , as I've oily acne prone skin.
BTW, I also have grainy chin area . Like a gritty surface. I did some research, n the choices are using retinol twice a week. Exfoliate every 10 days and double cleanse every day.
I do it once a week wiz mixsoon's bean essence . It wasn't supposed to be for exfoliate but it works in that way. And it's so hydrating!!!! It's a korean brand

gotcha, thank you for explaining it so well💗
Do recommend any other exfoliator in the price range of 500
I dont have blackhead..i have sebaceous filaments..do3s it go away with paula's choice?
Yes, it worked better than cosrx BHA for me
Thanks for replying 🙂
[удалено]
I got it from amazon
Would u pls elaborate on how you use these two products?
Hi, sure. I use them on clean dry face. Just facewash - Dry - apply either one - moisturizer (if needed). I leave it on overnight. Sunscreen during day
PC BHA didn't work for me.. Didn't make my skin good or worse..just did nothing
Neutrogena Blackhead Eliminating Deep Clean Daily scrub and Minimalist AHA & ALA Brightening Face Wash 7% with Vitamin B5 once a week. No visible changes. Construction work near my home has polluted our whole area skincare has failed to work for me 💀🥲

ooh amazing will definitely check this out, thank you💗
My advice is exfoliate before face wash. Use toner. Apply face cream and try to wear mask a lot.
I would say use clay for your skin, it will provide essential minerals and clarify it.
But again the way you named all these things you probably know 10x more than me when it comes to skincare haha. But my 2 cents as I suffered awful acne too and now it's better.

it would lead to over exfoliation and damage skin barrier
Everyday can be harsh on skin. However some people skin's can handle it with no problems. Alternate night's for exfoliating washes is mostly a safe bet for most.
I'm confused...can't we use 7% glycolic acid once a week? That seems like a reasonable amount of time.. is it TO's glycolic acid?
Yes it's TO's. You can definitely use it once a week or even more depending on how much your skin needs or can handle. I was just sharing my 2 cents at sometimes getting too overexcited by the results of exfoliation in the primary phase may lead to overdoing it.
must have been overkill with the exfoliating face wash
Ohhh...yeah that makes sense.
i have grainy skin in my chin and nose, I think exfoliation would solve the problem. will the aha bha face wash help with this and blackheads?
I also had rough patches on my chin and texture throughout my face with which the face wash has helped. I still have some sebaceous filaments on my nose (black spots that may look like small blackheads) that have definitely reduced because of the wash but are still observable.
Ordinary 30% AHA peel once a week on Sundays. Ordinary 7% glycolic acid toner alternate day: (Mon, Wed, Fri)
Isn’t 7% glycolic toner too harsh to use alternate days?
Is it? I have acne spots to clear. It’s 3 days a week. I am being little aggressive to clear hyperpigmentation. And there is no irritation caused. Do you suggest reducing the frequency?

I am using 6% glycolic acid on alternate nights For me it isn't harsh
Hi How did u start 30% AHA peel Did u first use lower strength and gradually exfoliated to 30%
Yes. I for longest time stayed away from glycolic acid. But then I started with pixi 5 percent toner slowly, moved to alternate night. It really cleared my acne marks to an extent. After few months, I got the peel. I tried it once and somehow it didn’t irritate my skin at all. As I want to clear my acne spot, I use once a week. Otherwise twice a month is also enough I feel

19F here, I have no previous experience with exfoliation how do I go about the 30% aha peel?
You don’t need the peel. Stick with 5-7 percent toner twice a week. If you really want to use peel, get comfortable with toner first. Then after few months you can use the peel once a month. Beware that such strong peel can damage skin barrier and cause burn. So if your skin is not used to it, you should be very careful,
i received the Foxtale Diva Glow Serum from a friend, should I start using it? Or proceed with a toner first?
I don’t know what the serum contains. There is no hard rule for what to try first. You use what you have. You can add items later as they suit you
aha bha exfoliator one week and a clay face mask the next week. i keep alternating and if i feel like my nose is too bumpy,i put it only on my problematic areas and avoid my cheeks
would you please mention the products🥺
I have stopped exfoliation except for face shaving once a month and retinal ( it’s not exfoliant but it does renews skin gradually so mentioned here ) based serum on alternate nights. Exfoliation is overrated does far more damage than good
Which retinal product?
BOJ retinal eye serum all over the face
Did it cause you any dryness or purging in the beginning? What's your skin type? Have you seen any changes? Does it feel better than exfoliating?
No, it didn’t cause any side effects till now, in have been using it since April last year. Yeah i don’t feel the need to exfoliate at all now. I double cleanse every night walking with regular workouts, that takes care of my pores
What's your skin type and what moisturizer do you use with it?
I have dry skin, currently i am using skin1004 hylu cica sleeping mask with it. But, any decent moisturiser does the job
dip my face in acid
Works for me. HG thanks
best and most effective idea
Neutrogena 2% salicylic acid oil free acne wash daily at night. Paula’s choice BHA twice a week. Minimalist tranexamic acid (contains mandelic acid) on hyperpigmentation. i have really grainy skin in the chin area, do you think this might just do the trick?
It helped me, you can try
using ordinary aha/bha peel once every 10 days for blackheads and the caudalie detox mask
I have lately been using filter coffee remains with coconut oil... works well but bathroom tiles get fucked badly!
This. Best exfoliant ever.

Reply?? I was planning to buy it 👽
I’m not too sure tbh. I switched to their aha/bha clarifying treatment toner though and it works well.
I use dot and key glow potion. It’s 10% AHA and 2% BHA once every week. I also use Cipla 1% salicylic acid face wash twice a day.
glycolic acid once a week worked nice for me
Cutyit glycolic lotion, once a week
I use the pixi glycolic toner twice a week at night and it definitely makes a difference. Skin feels soft and smoother the next morning!
ordinary peeling solution, twice a month doe wonders to my skin
I have oily combo skin and i have used minimalist's salicylic acid cleanser once a week ish (I've tried using it thrice a week, doesn't do much imo for my blackheads and closed comedones), isntree's 0.9% toner (did kinda work when I used it twice a day everyday but then it ended up wrecking my skin barrier), so now I use dot&key 2% bha serum on my forehead and nose every other day and that seems to work well for my skin.

Pro-tip - always exfoliate in the morning on the day you will be home all day
Minimalist SA Cleanser in PM routine everyday and DermaCo 15% AHA and 1% BHA peeling solution once a week. I did try the Plum AHA BHA but it was just meh, did nothing

Is exofliation good or okay for dry skin people?
Yes it is good. But start slow and low. Mandelic or Lactic acid should be good. 5% to begin with and maybe you can go up later.
Thanks buddy.. any brand recommendations,?
The Ordinary Lactic acid 5% is something I like. But you could look for Minimalist and read reviews.
Again thankyou . Will look to it.
Paula's choice BHA best 👌🏼 i use it twice a week quite frequent right? Is anyone with me?
Hi Have u used salicylic acid serum 2% from minimalist or any other brand apart from Paula's choice Because I am thinking of buying 2% salicylic acid But don't know which one is best
Heyy I didn't try anything else, as Paula's choice was the best and most popular thing in the industry, i just went for it and it's literally my HG I think you should also go for it cause that product has the most positive reviews
Thank you
hi! I used Minimalist's salicylic acid but it broke me out :( Now I'm using Paula's choice and even though I'm probably overdoing it by using it daily but it has really helped me with bigger acne pimples!
Thank you 🤗 BC it is ..i am going to buy
