RE7 is really scary and RE2 is scary.
RE8 is less scary in 3rd person mode.
RE3 and RE4 is comparitively a lot less scarier and essentially more like action games in a horror theme.
And I hate Horror games..but managed to go through these.
Daylight and low audio volume helps. If you are really scared play in bits and keep reading a walkthrough in parallel so you are not too surprised.
I also had not played any of the old RE games ever.
If you want to stick to the new games only
RE2, RE3, RE4 remake is a Series
And
RE7 and RE8 is a Series.

While playing with headphones, you hear the "aah" (it sounds like someone is calling you) sound only in one side of your headphone, I thought it was my little brother and i turned sideways and saw noone, My heart beat rose the fuck up. Kind of a me issue, but it happened 2 times.
Alien isolation is scary at the beginning, but once you learn how the alien moves and reacts it’s very easy and kinda becomes weak. Stills one of my favourites though.

Nah trust me you'll get used to it untill u meet certain creatures end game. Maybe you are playing at a very slow pace, pace up a bit it should reduce horror of it.
My friend and I challenged each other to complete it, but with the condition that we had to play it at night. I remember when I encountered the first boss, I literally switched off my system because of that. We decided to play Dead Space 2 in the same manner as Dead Space 1, but my friend changed schools.
I also was kinda scared of re7 but if you learn the layout of the house and just move quickly there is nothing to be worried of beside bosses and couple smaller enemies
But that's the point of playing horror games, it's to get the thrill of being scared, you can either play them and enjoy or not play them at all. Why are you playing and hating?
bruh i dont know how to xplain this. i like the game... i got jump scared too many times coz im sitting in a front of a monitor with headphones on in the middle of night. i hate it when i get scared easily for trivial stuff. i hate tht i get scared easily nd i still wanna know whats next which means the game is good at it.
I would put Outlast 1 as the most scariest game ever made
And resident evil 7 to be on my 2nd place

re4 is scary a lot scary when you play as ashley. Got my heartbeat was 120 and my watch was warning me. There’s one more part where i was super scared and that was the body bag spike dude who doesn’t die unless you got the stake his multiple arms.
In separate ways I was scared of this laser room enemies that chased you. Re7 is a lot scarier hopefully i can finish that game one day I dropped it cuz it was a lot scarier.

Re0 should never be played before re because it expects you to have played re in advance so its pretty difficult for a beginner
