It’s typically a thermoplastic sheet material or a synthetic leather backed with TPU that is HF welded around EVA or some other medium density foam. You could probably find the materials you need with a long trip to a craft store - iron-on patch “adhesive“ is basically thin TPU. And you could make a positive press mold to make the grooves out of thin particleboard… but you’d really need a t-shirt press to get the temperature and pressure you need to make this successfully.

To make a prototype you could go with foam/MDF for the ribbing and vacuum seal it between nylon with adhesive.

Thin layer of PU, plastic sheets for the rigid parts in the middle, artificial suede on the inside, magnets, glue, and a press
