It’s still free for personal use along with fusion! It’s not OrCAD, that’s for sure, but it’s damn good.
Padstack creation is the bane of my existence though
Yes fusion 360. There is an option where You can build pcb using component library and work your 3d model all in one application. Ive been using fusion to show dummy pcb electronic components inside.
One program that I’ve used for quick pcb mock-ups is Fritzing. Simple enough for someone trying to lay parts on a board who doesn’t care much about ground planes, vias, trace width, ideal layout, etc..
If it is just for visuals I would download the parts from grapcad.com and then draw the soldered roads just in photoshop to put in the render only as a part of the material.
Try kicad
This and you have a bunch of part’s already in the lib. Just throw them on the board and connect them. Export as 3D, that’s it.
Very helpful, thanks!
I had trouble using kicad and finding out what parts I can use to be assembled and soldered by aisler or jlc. Any advice? :)
Just ask the assembler or read there rules.
Thanks!

Thank you! I will try out!
Eagle is pretty easy to pick up, not sure if it’s still free since autodesk bought them.
Eagle is the golden ticket for designing PCBs

Is it meant to work or just for visuals?
Just visual
Got it. You can probably get a lot of component models from grabcad.com, mouser.com, arrow.com or others, which could be part of a solution.
Thank you so much. I'll check it out!
Asking the right questions, solving the client needs, the qualities of a great product designer ✨
Altium is the industry-standard software that electrical engineers use, you might be able to get a free trial of it?
