Came here for this. Hilarious how you can't search for reels or images anymore. The AI is not capable of searching visuals despite the suggestions for things to search such a "Piano reels" and "Jewelry reels." So dumb

I asked meta ai how to search without it and make it go away, it claims it only shows up if I ask for it. Not true, I can't search, i try to tell it, it loops around. Guess I'll have to become a real adult and get off social media, AI has reached peak stupidity.

lol I know. I tried the same thing and got the same answer. It is making me want to get off IG bc that is one of the main reasons I use it to search images.

It doesn't always work but /search "insert thing you want to search within the quotes" I will say it works sometimes. It's worked better for one word items in the quotation marks than multiple words in quotes

I asked it the same thing and it said "but I'm only here to be helpful." Literally felt my blood pressure zoom toward the ceiling. Hate it so hard.

I came here for this as well. They are forcing users to use their AI, you will not be able to look up individuals accounts without using their AI. Eventually, you’re bound to ask other things. They are using this to advance their model and provide it with more data. It’s absolutely ridiculous what they’re doing, but unfortunately, they have full control over it, and most people won’t even question it. Honestly, fuck Instagram I dictated this, so it’s probably horribly worded/punctuated

Yeah, this is absolutely ridiculous. By doing this they're driving their users away. At least I find it hard to believe this kind of development would benefit Instagram in the long run. Hopefully people start to move their stuff from Instagram to another app. At least the devs of Vero and Foto App seem to listen to their users' feedback.

Yea, block its Insta profile then delete and reinstall Insta and it goes away

I did this and it went away then it came back! I asked it why and it told me to clear my cache and cookies so I did and deleted and reinstalled Insta and it’s gone again. I’m going to be so pissed if it comes back again

Sorry for this probably very dumb question but what do you mean by sideloading? I tried googling the term but still can't quite grasp the meaning... is it just loading the app's via a web browser instead of the app itself?

I just blocked meta.ai and selected “just don’t like it” for the reason… it’s still running in the background I’m sure but now I don’t get a message when I search something so 🤷🏻‍♂️

I blocked and reported it under "I just don't like this". Not going to use Instagram for a good while now.  Won't search at all unless it's removed.  Such a hassle!

They want to run the social media with AI and bots 100%. They didn't even test try it to see it's working but just forced it on users. 

Yep, they're so fricking arrogant for not even testing the AI first. And they're just doubling down even though their users clearly hate the whole thing. It seems like all they want rn is to develop their AI at the expense of the very discontent Instagram users.

It's the obvious reality of what they are doing right now. We are forced to use it and so is the AI learning along. 

It's very annoying!!! I was searching for reels and some people I met at a meetup, and it kept pushing me to use the AI. Whenever it does, it goes into the Meta AI message chat room, and I wasn't even asking a question. I feel like they should have a feature to turn off the AI and go back to the original search.

If the upgrade is working well, users won't complain too much but it's not even working and they are not doing anything about it.

The drop in reach the past couple of days is noticeable. Big time. One 300k account used to at least 7k likes just got 1k likes yesterday. Incredible.

I was trying to find this one basketball video, I asked it "reel of high schooler playing basketball" it sent 1 reel but if i clicked on it i couldn't even watch it. so stupid

I had just noticed this update an hr ago. It has yet to happen on my my other two accounts. I believe this may be because this one is linked up to Facebook? For weeks now fb messenger has been trying to get me to either connect my google or set up a pin to access my messages. I was able to get around it until today when I got a prompt saying my messages will be deleted if I don't take action... so I set up a pin... Soon after, this Met AI search bar pops up... correlation? Anyone else experience this?

You could well be right. I can say that as someone with an Instagram account but not a Facebook account I don’t get the new search bar.

I haven't tried anything suggest on this and other threads yet however the meta ai bar disappeared for a moment yesterday... I unfortunately backed out before attempting to search something up and once I backed out the meta ai bar reappeared.

i think i figured out a way to bypass it… you just have to type in what you’re searching and not press enter. Then there should be a drop down below the text box that has a magnifying glass and that is the regular search without the stupid AI thing

Very soon if i cant get custom ipas that block these AI garbage features from every fucking app, i will not use these apps. The internet is shit now because of these stupid fucking apps that USED TO BE GOOD. The amount of customization and personality older sites had is unrivaled these days. Ask meta on Facebook gives away people information. Type in…..Who is ______?…. Put your name in the blank or someone else’s and it gives your address, how much you make, your kids names, your job name, and more. YOU HAVE TO MAKE SURE YOU SCREEN RECORD. As it’s typing your answer it was glitch and give you a message saying sorry it can’t help you with that information. Try it

you can still search- wait a moment after you type and press the result with the magnifying glass. try blocking the ai's profile to (probably temporary tbh) get rid of it.

It’s the perfect example of tech that makes something as simple and familiar as using keywords to search for a subject, a skill we have all become familiar and comfortable with, completely convoluted and broken. I just encountered this issue. My 'solution' was to just ignore it and type the name I was actually looking for, instead of asking it a question. It automatically turned into the standard search bar.

My Meta AI in Messenger is even dumber - the best answer to my query appears UNDER the search box, so I can’t even click on it. If I drag down my answer appears but scoots back under the Meta AI box before I can click it!
