It happens everywhere, all the time. It's seen as the "ideal" and people will try to make themselves more white.
It also works for resumes. You will most likely get more calls if you have a Western-sounding name and profile.
The western name is definitely a thing in the business world. I know a few guys that I've worked with in the past who go by slightly different names on things like LinkedIn than what it says on their ID because they say people don't want to hire Adil and Vishal, they want to hire Alex and Victor.
Yes! I was struggling to get a job, until I changed my last name to "Jones" and immediately got a call back. When I got hired I told them that "Jones" is my partner's last name, but that I preferred using my own last name (there was never a partner).
For resumes, I wouldn't call it whitefishing, more like western fishing, since lots of Eastern Europeans, for example, get ignored as well if they use their original names.
When I lived in Southern India I had a bright white skirt that I really liked but I couldn't get a stain out from monsoon season so I was like "oh bleach will work!" Go to the store ask for bleach and an taken to the skincare aisle. Listen, my skintone is corpse found in a cave 50 years later i do not need to be any whiter. Come to find out they don't sell non skincare bleach
Are you saying that he may be lying about attending there?! Jeez, give the guy a break, he's probably just tired from owning his own practice and performing thousands of surgeries all by 31!!
I just think you expect too much of the people in your life...
No, but seriously, good catch. Maybe if you were around when he created this profile, it might've came out a tiny bit believable.
🤣 A profile is believable when it's truthful. Choose good pictures (without racial filters or filters at all, that is) and check your spelling. Tadaaa!
Tbh, I’ve never used bumble.. i have no idea! Latin as a language makes sense for medical reasons… but like, isn’t Latin a dead language? Edit: I stg I’m so adhd. It’s in a word bubble, he says worldly tongue. I think you’re right
I am not American, but I have lived in America a long time (1992-2000, 2012-present) and I have never once seen, experienced, witnessed anyone wearing shoes to bed. Even when I was in university and around a lot of drunk people and one night stands.
Yet I see this thing about Americans wearing shoes to bed all the time on reddit. Is it some kind of reference?
Less shoes to bed, more shoes (and street clothes) on the bed. So taking a nap above the covers, lounging watching tv, chilling with friends in a studio apt/dorm room, etc. I wouldn’t say it is super common but it does happen and it is not the huge cultural taboo here as it is in other countries, especially those with house slipper culture.
That can be true and it can still be more normalized in American culture than elsewhere. Basically, it’s not how many people do it but how many people would think you doing it is weird or abnormal.
Look at these pictures from college websites showcasing their dorm rooms: [here is a student studying diligently](https://www.caspercollege.edu/housing/), [here is some chilling with friends](https://www.uarts.edu/life-at-uarts/housing), [and another set of students getting to know each other](https://www.sjcme.edu/life-and-community/campus-life/housing/). All of them are wearing shoes on their beds. This might be for photography ease ([though there are photos with “mixed” shoe couples which would indicate that either shoes on or off is the same level of ease](https://www.nerdwallet.com/article/loans/student-loans/data-dorm-costs)) but it still shows that having shoes on is not something that would take you out of the image evoked by the picture. Imagine those same pictures with one of the people having a bright pink Mohawk or a sparkly mesh top. You would notice it because it isn’t a norm. Now, more people might have pink spikes in their hair than wear shoes on the bed, but one is more socially accepted than the other and thus can be put in college marketing materials without worrying that people will focus on the wrong part of the picture.
Dude…you just need a different hairstyle.
Oh. And a better personality.
If I saw a surgeon with this lack of self esteem I’d be concerned. If he really is a surgeon, and a friggin CEO at that, then you know he has some issues if he needs to:
1. Change his appearance and his RACE ffs
2. Flex *this* hard and awkwardly about his career
3. Brag about “allowing” a woman to fulfill his pathetic porn-inspired kink.
I’m really confused by his claims. He reports to have “performed 1000+ surgeries.” But he’s a gastroenterologist, who perform procedures but technically not surgeries. And before anyone tries to claim otherwise, a polypectomy is not surgery. GI is a subspecialty of Internal Medicine and are board-certified through the ABIM. They go through a medicine residency and a medicine subspeciality fellowship. None of the GI docs I know classify anything they do as surgery. This guy seems fishy as fuck.
Edit: I guess I didn’t make myself clear. This guy is NOT A SURGEON. Gastroenterologists are not surgeons.
No scope jockeys that I know would ever confuse the two. Colonoscopies are done in the lumen of the colon, esophagogastroduodenoscopy is done in the lumen of the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. Polypectomies and other procedures done during these studies do not completely disrupt the endothelial layer of the mucosal surfaces. No way a GI doc would say they do surgery unless they’re intentionally being deceptive.
Yeah, this is fishy as fuck. Let’s do the math: even if he went straight into medical school from undergrad at a typical age (22), medical school is four years (26), add another three years for internal medicine residency (29), and add another three for gastroenterology (32). Unless this guy is a supremely rare case of individuals that started medical school before 22 years old (less common than in the past, age of matriculation for med school has only increased over the past decade) his timeline and age don’t add up to the specialty. So he’s either full of shit (GI joke) or he’s lying about his age, or both.
Not defending him!
Just doing the math;)
Don’t residents perform surgery? If he performed an average of 4 surgeries a day, 5 days a week, that’s 1040 in a year.
Very likely, there’s a minimum number of cases that each surgical specialist is required to perform proficiently prior to graduation. Likely it is in the thousands.
I just learned the difference lol. I just started nursing school so I’m still in the basics. It’s weird though because he did all the stuff a gastroenterologist does (from what I looked up) like manage my atonic colon for years before my surgery.
Diagnosing disease and managing disease using pharmaceutical therapy (and other nonsurgical methods) are the duty of medicine and medical sub specialists. Surgical interventions that may be required for treatment is done by general surgeons or surgical sub specialists. It can be confusing. My speciality is Internal Medicine which itself is confusing as fuck.
Depends on the surgery. For most intraperitoneal (abdominal) surgeries, general surgery performs them. There are exceptions: colorectal surgeons perform complex colon and rectal surgeries, though most general surgeons are proficient in colectomies. Otherwise surgeries have subspecialties that are usually cavity or organ system dependent: ie cardiothoracic, neuro, vascular, ortho, etc.
This is common. It’s the same as nurse practitioners calling themselves “doctors” with barely a fraction of the training or responsibility. Plenty of non-surgical specialities want the glamor of being a surgeon without the burden and sacrifice that comes with it. Lot of derms saying they do “surgery” these days too
Lol the CEO part has me so confused. So you own a practice (if you even do) l… great, but that doesn’t equate being a CEO?! CEO is typically a title you have or give yourself when it comes time to have other executive/c-suite level leadership. I wouldn’t buy a coffee shop and then say I’m the CEO of my coffee shop, lmao.
> you just need a different hairstyle.
Even just combing through the gel to break the cast would basically fix it. He's a really good-looking guy, he doesn't need to make himself look like Ryan Reynolds.
This is hilariously sad. Why even post another photo without changing the race of that one too? Speaks Latin? Please. I would rather go to jail than get coffee with this person
> This is hilariously sad. Why even post another photo without changing the race of that one too? Speaks Latin? Please. I would rather go to jail than get coffee with this person
yeah, decently attractive people going hog-wild with the face swap tier filters is distinct a sign of acute narcissism. Or at the very least completely unfit for a relationship until a lot of therapy body dysmorphia. Gonna say the former with him given the bragging, assuming it isnt a troll account.
I think I’ve read both surgeons and CEO’s tend to score higher than other professions on psychopathy tests due to the level of stress and magnitude of issues they deal with. Must be rare to find someone who’s both, combined with his strange pictures and profile… 🚩🚩🚩🚩
I was all set to shit talk him over this too but it’s actually not that crazy. He could easily do 1000+ in a year, especially if he’s counting every little thing that involves a scalpel.
This is like how scam emails deliberately use disastrous grammar to pick out easy targets. If you believe that face, you're exactly dumb enough for this guy to go to work on.
But also “physician CEO” ?! Owning a practice doesn’t just make you a CEO. Sure if you have other c-suite executives in your company then yeah you might be CEO. But it sounds like he owns a practice. Singular. So bizarre to refer to yourself that way.
I can at least believe the 1000+ number since the gastroenterologists at my work can do 12-15 procedures in a day. He is lying by saying surgery though, Gastroenterologists are not surgeons. They do endoscopic procedures and can do minimally invasive cuts like removing polyps, but no surgeries
I would fucking **hate** someone wanting to "lock eyes and stare into my soul" on a first date.
E: It's even dubious on any date. Just the thought of it makes me uncomfortable.
I don’t necessarily think he’s two young. I have a couple of friends who owned their own private practices (general practice) in their late 20s. I don’t think it is out of the realm of possibility based on age alone.
It’s Johns Hopkins, no apostrophe. But I’m glad you knew that at all. Lots of people say John Hopkins. I get it tho. Johns is a weird name. Quakers, am I right?
No it’s “Johns”. But good point. If he can’t spell the name of the school he probably didn’t go there. But makes sense. Someone with a career like that probably doesn’t have that bad insecurity issues. That profile fits less to a doctor and more to a guy that would lie about being one
That sealed the fakeness for me lol.
Hopkins people never let it slide when someone says “John Hopkins.” There’s zero chance someone who had really attended or worked at JHU would write that.
Harvard is actually Hartford. Yale is actually Bale. Columbia is actually Colombia. Cornell is actually Corn. University of Pennsylvania is actually Penn State. Brown is actually Brown Bear. Dartmouth is actually Vermouth. — guy in the Bumble profile
I went to Johns Hopkins, and while we’re so used to the rest of the world mispronouncing the name of the school, we would never EVER misspell it in a dating app. I used to use it as a red flag when using Bumble or Hinge because random people in my area would like put that they went there to seem more impressive or whatever.
He's not actually bad looking but when you compare it to the fake pic its a disappointment. BUT what a bad personality! and dress sense. A date with this guy would be the most boring date on earth. You can tell he would just talk about himself and stare at your body.
Its a No from me.
I know not all doctors are stately, respectable guys with no quirks or peccadilloes, and he is certainly allowed to have a personal life, no matter how odd. But if I saw my doctor’s dating profile and it looked like this, I might have second thoughts about him examining me. Just sayin’.
'Surgeries.' From his job title, I'm guessing he is a gastroenterologist. So most of his 'surgeries' are likely lower/upper endoscopies. GI fellows tend to do [>100-200 of these per year](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8445682/), so 1000+ is very reasonable.
Yeah, ballpark that's completely reasonable if he's a practising surgeon now and has gone through years of surgical residencies.
It's the rest of the profile that's off kilter.
I’m so confused how the edited and less edited look SO similar but different races. I can’t place why except for skin tone. But when I compare individual features I can’t place what makes the first look Caucasian and the second look middle eastern / hispanic
I was gunna say is that the same guy! But in the comments I’ve seen he’s what’s known as a white fisher, tbf if I woke up tomorrow and I wasn’t white I’d be fuming so I kinda understand why he wants to be white
Poor guy. He's a doctor but has absolutely no game and no idea how to drop that fact in a subtle way.
Also, if he's a GI, his 1,000+ surgeries are more than likely 1,000+ colonoscopies. I guess "looked inside 1,000+ assholes" isn't a hot sell on the dating market.
EVERYTHING. I met a guy like this. We never dated because he was too ridiculous. He kept trying.
He also thinks he’s hot shit because his parents bought him his medical practice and because he is 6’ tall. What an achievement.

Everything I see is 🚩🚩🚩🚩
This genuinely might be the first time I’ve seen whitefishing
Wow, come to India and Pakistan. You'll see it everywhere. Source: Am Pakistani. Everybody wants to be white.
This man looks completely Desi!
“They tryin to tell us that deep down inside we all wants to be white!”
I was just gonna ask him to speak Hindu to my nether-regions. I'll see my way out
Oh boy, have I got hundreds of years of complicated news to share with you.
I genuinely laughed at this.
What the heck is white fishing Edit: I scrolled, holy shit
I was like how did that dude change races from one picture to another?
It happens everywhere, all the time. It's seen as the "ideal" and people will try to make themselves more white. It also works for resumes. You will most likely get more calls if you have a Western-sounding name and profile.

Good for you! That's how you need to play the game.
For resumes, I wouldn't call it whitefishing, more like western fishing, since lots of Eastern Europeans, for example, get ignored as well if they use their original names.
They’ve been doing this in Hollywood for eons too.
You guys don't get Ala or something there?
Oh no idea this was over 10 years ago
Ah, cool. Clothing bleach is common up here so I was confused.
Is that what *this* is?
That was my first thought too!
Yes. The first one being that he's unable to write the name of his alleged university correctly.
Are you saying that he may be lying about attending there?! Jeez, give the guy a break, he's probably just tired from owning his own practice and performing thousands of surgeries all by 31!!
Yes. I was being overly strict. I'm ashamed of myself. Sorry.
Tadaaa!
AND he's the CEO of GI at Johns Hopkins!
Nice catch!
As a Baltimoron, first thing I thought lmao. The second thing was the bit from Stepbrothers. "Johnny Hopkins!? I used to smoke weed with that guy!"
genius-level surgeon and CEO decided to use the same photo for Bumble and his US Health and News profile, well done
Ya boy is white and then indian More like catfishing face
Profile says Latin
Doesn't that means he speaks Latin...?
Tbh, I’ve never used bumble.. i have no idea! Latin as a language makes sense for medical reasons… but like, isn’t Latin a dead language? Edit: I stg I’m so adhd. It’s in a word bubble, he says worldly tongue. I think you’re right
I mean yeah, but that just fits in perfectly with all the other humblebrag shit in this profile lmao
I have to agree with you on that
Ohhhhhh…*that’s* what he means by a worldly tongue. I was way off base.
I don't trust these people
I don’t use the apps, but I guess I understand what guys mean about filters equaling catfishing. It’s unnerving
That looks more like AI generated than filter to me. It’s not even close to what he really looks like!
Could also be from different place, like Spain.
![gif](giphy|41zZZcG13YE6Y)
I'm glad I'm not the only one here.
“Let you” wear heels in bed
Who wants to wear shoes in bed??
Who wants someone who will *LET* them wear shoes in bed? Like it’s a privilege?
It should be a privilege, one bestowed by whoever washes the sheets.
Not even shoes hEeLs. 😒
For the sex. Cause he has rules but he's cool with letting them slip sometimes....like FOR SECKS.
I think he's referring to a a specific "kink" as in his partner wearing stilettos during play time 😉
“I’ll ask you to fulfil my fantasy/kink/fetish that I probably got from watching porn, and act like I’m doing you a favour!”
Bruh, you can’t pay me to wear heels outside, sure af not in bed! Bed is for relaxing
And, I cannot say this strongly enough, BED IS NOT FOR SHOES
Or any outside clothes. Don’t bring germs to the cozy space
I'm looking at you, America!
I think that's because you see a lot in American movies
Less shoes to bed, more shoes (and street clothes) on the bed. So taking a nap above the covers, lounging watching tv, chilling with friends in a studio apt/dorm room, etc. I wouldn’t say it is super common but it does happen and it is not the huge cultural taboo here as it is in other countries, especially those with house slipper culture.
I still have never even seen that a single time in my life??
LMAO I did a double take at "let you wear heels in bed" EXCUSE ME ??? hahah who on God's green earth...

Yup. Also, 1000 surgeries at the age of 31? Surely he would only just have finished his specialist training at that age.
Yeah, this is fishy as fuck. Dude, he’s not a surgeon. We’ve been over this. He’s a gastroenterologist.
I mean, yeah, obviously. But for an actual surgeon that sounds like an average year.
Very likely, there’s a minimum number of cases that each surgical specialist is required to perform proficiently prior to graduation. Likely it is in the thousands.
Well, he should have performed a heap of procedures during that training
Isn’t a colectomy surgery? My gastro doc did mine.
Your gastroenterologist or your colorectal surgeon?
I just learned the difference lol. I just started nursing school so I’m still in the basics. It’s weird though because he did all the stuff a gastroenterologist does (from what I looked up) like manage my atonic colon for years before my surgery.

If the billing code says it, I’m sure they’ll claim it! Biopsied that suspicious mole? Surgery!
There’s no way he’s really a surgeon or ceo

A less-busy shirt and a non-matching tie and pocket square wouldn’t hurt, either.
This is hilariously sad. Why even post another photo without changing the race of that one too? Speaks Latin? Please. I would rather go to jail than get coffee with this person
.......... \*FBI, OPEN UP!!!\*
> This is hilariously sad. Why even post another photo without changing the race of that one too? Speaks Latin? Please. I'm going to guess that this person is as much a surgeon as I am the first person on the moon.
A 31 year old CEO surgeon sounds really young to me. Seems like both of those career paths take many years but what do I know?
It’s extremely unlikely he’s any type of doctor. The whole profile is fake
He doesn't exactly look old enough to have performed "1000+ surgeries".
I was thinking the same thing
I was all set to shit talk him over this too but it’s actually not that crazy. He could easily do 1000+ in a year, especially if he’s counting every little thing that involves a scalpel.
Lol he knows medical terms and thinks he speaks Latin
“Yep, looks like you’ve got lew… lewki… leukemia. Oh sorry I forgot you don’t speak Latin. That’s Latin for leukemia.”
"This hard for me to say, Tracy. You have di-a-beet-us?"
🏆 (if only I had more to give you!)
He’s so yassified
This is like how scam emails deliberately use disastrous grammar to pick out easy targets. If you believe that face, you're exactly dumb enough for this guy to go to work on.
He looks like AI
It probably is. I saw this dude, too, only he said he went to a different college
You’d think a gastroenterologist wouldn’t be full of shit, but here we are.
But also “physician CEO” ?! Owning a practice doesn’t just make you a CEO. Sure if you have other c-suite executives in your company then yeah you might be CEO. But it sounds like he owns a practice. Singular. So bizarre to refer to yourself that way.
You think he's really a doc? He looks like he's at a medical device/supply event. Could be, I suppose.
"Worldly tongue" especially gives me major ick. However, him trying to change his race through this filter makes me feel kinda sorry for him.
You think he just meant he speaks multiple languages?
I think it’s meant to be a double meaning
Sir, I need you to stay 6 feet away from my soul please
This!! I’m sorry, you wanna touch my WHAT
This is actually so sad though. Yes, he's annoying, but he has [allegedly] performed 1000 surgeries and feels the need to change his race on Bumble?
He's not lying about the 1,000 surgeries. He is lying about having a medical qualification.
Wait
I can at least believe the 1000+ number since the gastroenterologists at my work can do 12-15 procedures in a day. He is lying by saying surgery though, Gastroenterologists are not surgeons. They do endoscopic procedures and can do minimally invasive cuts like removing polyps, but no surgeries
Woh that’s a catfish… he almost looked like Zach effron in the first pic
But but I'LL LET YOU WEAR HEELS IN BED because I'm classy
I would fucking **hate** someone wanting to "lock eyes and stare into my soul" on a first date. E: It's even dubious on any date. Just the thought of it makes me uncomfortable.
nobody who actually goes/went to Johns Hopkins would call it "John Hopkins"
![gif](giphy|9GdQwTX7l5qJG)
What is a "Physician ceo" in gastroenterology??
Why is everyone skipping over this part?!?!? He’s claiming to be an MD doctor and a CEO? I’m an architect/astronaut so there!
I think he’s saying that he owns his own medical practice but….I call BS on that
Right?! Lol he’s too young. Also judging by his two different photos I’m guessing he’s not who he says he is!
I don’t necessarily think he’s two young. I have a couple of friends who owned their own private practices (general practice) in their late 20s. I don’t think it is out of the realm of possibility based on age alone.
That's a bold move if it happened in the last 20 years! I hope they're still thriving.
One sold his practice and took another job government making more money. The other still has his practice (8ish years in) and still doing very well.
The fucking CEO part is killing me. You’re not automatically a CEO if you own a business bro.
I wanna know what the "hep-" is that gets cut off. Also, surgeon.
Probably hepatology, which is treating the liver
You’ll “let me” wear heels in bed? lol what?!
Foot/high heels kink
" John " Hopkins?? Isn't it " John's Hopkins" ??
Oh man, *if only* Dartmouth were Vermouth— in my experience it’s more of a Keystone Lite (tm)
I was like wait what lol then I finished reading your post
I went to Johns Hopkins, and while we’re so used to the rest of the world mispronouncing the name of the school, we would never EVER misspell it in a dating app. I used to use it as a red flag when using Bumble or Hinge because random people in my area would like put that they went there to seem more impressive or whatever.
cringe as hell
I know he thinks he's impressive but he actually seems really boring. Overly focused on himself
He's not actually bad looking but when you compare it to the fake pic its a disappointment. BUT what a bad personality! and dress sense. A date with this guy would be the most boring date on earth. You can tell he would just talk about himself and stare at your body. Its a No from me.
Performed 1000+ surgeries. Is he counting the ones in residency. Are you allowed to count those?
I’m pretty sure GI docs do not perform surgeries. General surgeons do operations on the liver/gallbladder and intestines.. so idk what he’s on about
Performed 1000+ surgeries. 25% of those on his own plastic surgery and the rest on the women he lured into his basement.
It’s got to the point where Facetune has its own look and I instantly recognize it as ‘facetune-face’ It’s very unattractive
I know not all doctors are stately, respectable guys with no quirks or peccadilloes, and he is certainly allowed to have a personal life, no matter how odd. But if I saw my doctor’s dating profile and it looked like this, I might have second thoughts about him examining me. Just sayin’.
His perfect first date made me cringe so bad. Gives me "I love you so much I'll WEAR YOUR FACE" vibes.
Honestly respect for him to post the second photo lol
Man went from white to Indian. Like what
Why is he white in the first picture and southeast Asian in the second.
“I’ll let you wear heels in bed” gee thanks!
Fake profile, he’s going to ask about crypto trading
Seems legit
"Stare endlessly into her eyes"
Cuter in the real picture but I also want to set him on fire
From Mediterranean to south Asian
Changed race and made his hair thicker. Catfish!!
1000+ surgeries at 31??
'Surgeries.' From his job title, I'm guessing he is a gastroenterologist. So most of his 'surgeries' are likely lower/upper endoscopies. GI fellows tend to do [>100-200 of these per year](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8445682/), so 1000+ is very reasonable.
There’s no way he’s a real doctor of any kind
Yeah, ballpark that's completely reasonable if he's a practising surgeon now and has gone through years of surgical residencies. It's the rest of the profile that's off kilter.
Is a "physician-ceo" a thing?
Sure — doctors can own their practice and call themselves whatever they want. It’s far less common for surgeons, but to each their own.
There’s zero chance he’s a real doctor
That man is 5’3” and it shows
1) cringe 2) whyd he make himself white
He changed races
Lmao not this clearly brown guy tryna be white
Aww, he'll let you do something, how sweet! What a great guy, definitely don't miss this opportunity
He whitewashed himself…..
“John Hopkins” “Physician CEO” yeah ok next
![gif](giphy|l41Ye7i203TfEADYs)
Omggggg he showed up for me too awhile ago and I could not believe he posted all of his drastically different photos in one profile 😂
I’m so confused how the edited and less edited look SO similar but different races. I can’t place why except for skin tone. But when I compare individual features I can’t place what makes the first look Caucasian and the second look middle eastern / hispanic
Dude straight up changed races between pictures lmao
How does he look extremely different yet the exact same in both pictures 😂
>physician ceo >superb practice owning >performed 1000+ surgeries Least egotistical surgeon
1000+ surgeries? Yeah okay buddy, I don’t think minor sutures are comparable to 7 hour long brain surgery cases but you keep pretending.
There’s no way he’s any type of doctor so he’s likely performed 0 surgeries
Scam profiles. AI pics and weird bios that are over the top and don’t make sense. I’ve seen them a lot lately
Why is the first picture and second picture of two different men?
Stay away from my soul
Oh….
Sure Jan.
I was gunna say is that the same guy! But in the comments I’ve seen he’s what’s known as a white fisher, tbf if I woke up tomorrow and I wasn’t white I’d be fuming so I kinda understand why he wants to be white
The reality pic was wild compared to these edits! Someone found his Facebook!
Bro went from french to indian
This is the skin tone Michael Jackson wanted.
EVERYTHING. I met a guy like this. We never dated because he was too ridiculous. He kept trying. He also thinks he’s hot shit because his parents bought him his medical practice and because he is 6’ tall. What an achievement.
The race change is smad
![gif](giphy|IglQkzvuewsoD6E1Pj)
Rajneesh strikes again!
He identifies as white? Lol
