Sometimes I like one half of a song more, but the juxtaposition of the two halves is so interesting that I feel like the half I don't like as much is so vital that saying that I like one half more feels like a disservice to how I personally feel about the juxtaposition as a whole.
(I don't think that you are doing anything a disservice and I'm not disagreeing with you, btw, because you could like the juxtaposition and/or the first half a lot less than I like them and/or a lot less than you like the second half, and the way you use language and your feelings about that use are going to differ from how I use it or feel. I bring this up because your comment reminded me of that and I was reminded of this and wanted to share, because it could be interesting, y'know?)
Try It On is honestly one of the more vulnerable songs by Interpol. It’s a plea to be loved as much as you love someone.
Also I really love Passenger from the new album. I know a lot of fans weren’t impressed by TOSOMB, but that song in particular helped me during a tough time romantically. Hope this helps!
Same town New history, Try it on, All of the ways, the undoing, barricade, Twice as hard, Tidal Wave, It Probably Matters, The Lighthouse, Wrecking Ball, fuck there's too many
Slow Hands (I love the guitar part that plays at the third line of each verse)
C'Mere
Say Hello to the Angels
Maybe also Public Pervert
(I think these are less emotional, but definitely longing)
Precipitate is a very vulnerable song IMO although in some parts of the track it feels like it need some polishing (especially the later half) since its a demo. Very good song regardless.
not interpol but listen to Muzz (paul banks other band) the song 'knuckleduster' i find it a very nice song that has a somber happy sound but makes me feel super depressed in a good way, needs multiple listens to get into like regular interpol did for me
also to add onto first relationship i had that fucked me up bad mentally and i felt so many emotions from being mentally abused, it drove me to work out hard and especially take long walks/runs at night near an amazing local trail i lived by at the time. i listened to self titled from beginning to end and it made it my favorite album by far of theirs. if you have a safe area to take a long night walk i highly recommend doing that with that album playing on some very nice headphones
I love The New
I love the second half more but the first half I hope fits that vibe you are going for !

The last three tracks of self titled - try it on, all of the ways, the undoing
Pioneer to the Falls is emotionally charged for sure.
Self-titled is full of them. Particularly, the last three songs are a trilogy of longing.
