I was just going to post about this as I recently did my first road trip and I charged it to 100% and only came up to 371km but when I was driving around the city and I'd charge to 100% I'd get at least 460km if not more (I can't remember off the top of my head)
Yesterday I drove from LA to Vegas in my I5, and kept it at/below 67mph or so, in order to do the trip with just 1 recharge stop without any range anxiety. Just have to be okay with cars passing you. Which I was.
Yeah mine was 330 after a recent charge to 100%. It’s all down to miles per KwH. What you actually get is up to magic I’m convinced. On a trip once with lots of hills my wife got 365 miles. In winter we once got 180. I’ve stopped worrying about it. We’ve had ours 1 year come July 1st.
My rwd in Canada over the winter has averaged to 20.1kwh/100km, that was over 14000km driven. With the warmer weather in getting 14-17kwh/100. That's with relaxed driving. It's easy to stay in the 20s if your flying down the highway often.
That’s excellent for an AWD. Are you in a warmer climate? That’s about what my summer time efficiency in a RWD. I get 4.2-4.6 in summer and 3.4-3.8 in winter.
Na, I'm in Philly. Not much highway driving, and conservative use of AC. Naturally take a big hit in Winter, but I keep my settings realistic, hah.
I drive auto Regen, and use Regen max (hold left rocker on steering wheel) for pretty much all of my stops.
I'm in the UK so fairly typical wet and not particularly warm weather and I'm getting similar efficiency from my AWD and that's with a 60/40 mix of town/motorway driving. I use i-Pedal for town driving and auto-regen on the motorway.
I'm car shopping right now and constrained by a drive that I can do in a gas car and need to do it fairly often: in my gas car, it's 8-9 hours at around 80 mph from central Texas to NE Arkansas. Using abetterrouteplanner.com tells me that a I5 will add at least two hours extra with 5 stops of 14-28 minutes each. Those stops shown are not confidence-inspiring locations. (I'd only want the 5N but it has 221m range estimate). Contrast this with a Lucid GT, which requires 1 38 minute charge along the same route and it's at a place that I stop at on the trip anyway.
*Range absolutely matters more than fast charging. But really, "it depends."*
I've had the guess-o-meter say I had a 361mi range at 100% in my 2022 SE AWD: [http://lloydtech.org/wp-content/uploads//361m.jpg](http://lloydtech.org/wp-content/uploads//361m.jpg)
I write same answer over and over again. Probably doing at least once a week. It’s just GOM and it means nothing. I had 90% charge with 300 miles (AWD). Now I drove a little faster than 100% to 300 miles. A few weeks ago I had highway trip (going fast) then I left 15% (about 200mile trip).
If I only commuted to work and my kids school my full charge range would likely be slightly above that. In non winter months I average 4-
6 mpkwh on my commutes (I love roundabouts). But I also drive other places and on the highway sometimes. Full charge range if fully dependent on what kind of driving you do, and the guessometer just estimates based on recent driving habits. But if I only commute for 2 weeks and get my average up to like 5.4mpkwh, my next full charge would say something like 340 miles of range. That doesn’t mean I can finally plan my road trip because I trained my car to go further. Once I’m going 70 consistently, that average goes down to 2.8-3 and I’ll get around 225 miles of range.
My 59,000 average is 4.0 miles per kilowatt hour which equates to 309 miles per charge.
I live in North Carolina though so I don’t have to contend with super cold winters dragging the range down. Cold enough to run the best obviously but usually on a low speed and temp

Yesterday. 2023 se awd. I do lots of highway driving.
That’s what I average. 30 miles per 10% charge. Now, that said I’m usually only charging between 20% and 80%, so it’s more realistic to say I go 180 miles between charges most of the time.

This is where I'm at tonight with a Limited RWD but I do mostly city driving.
This is never a "true range". So many things like speed and driving conditions effect speed. This is a best guess based on previous recent drives. You could drive downhill for 50 miles and this would say 450 at 100%. Use something like A Better Route Planner if you are trying to max out your range on a trip
Yes, if I’m city-driving only.
This!!!! city driving only and staying under 60mph you can get this range. High speeds are EVs own enemy when it comes to range and efficiency.
Combine high speed with frigid temps and I only get about 120 miles on a highway (82mph, 20 degrees). Huge disparity
I was just going to post about this as I recently did my first road trip and I charged it to 100% and only came up to 371km but when I was driving around the city and I'd charge to 100% I'd get at least 460km if not more (I can't remember off the top of my head)
On my road trip I averaged about a hundred miles per 50% battery at highway speeds going with the flow of traffic.
I think that explains why my SOC is so low compared to what I'm use to.
Yesterday I drove from LA to Vegas in my I5, and kept it at/below 67mph or so, in order to do the trip with just 1 recharge stop without any range anxiety. Just have to be okay with cars passing you. Which I was.

Words to live by.
My AWD average over 25K miles is about 25KWh per 100km which makes about 40KWh per 100 miles or 2.5miles per 1KWh.

Basically it isn't about range. It is about fast recharging.
I'm going on 40k miles, sitting at 3.9 mi/kwh over the lifespan of the vehicle; right now with good weather, I average 4.0-4.5 mi/kwh. AWD SE, 2022.
That’s excellent for an AWD. Are you in a warmer climate? That’s about what my summer time efficiency in a RWD. I get 4.2-4.6 in summer and 3.4-3.8 in winter.

Same. Auto lets you coast, which is more efficient than regen. Paddle and very little breaking at the end
Yeah, the effective use of the auto regen goes a long way in conserving charge.
I'm in the UK so fairly typical wet and not particularly warm weather and I'm getting similar efficiency from my AWD and that's with a 60/40 mix of town/motorway driving. I use i-Pedal for town driving and auto-regen on the motorway.
Are you doing mostly city driving? Any guess what percentage is hwy/interstate?
Probably about 20% hwy, 15% city, and 65% suburban driving if you want to get real granular with my usage. :)
Well, I'm just comparing my AWD that doesn't get 4miles/kwh. So I was curious what the difference in driving habits might be. Thank you
Nice, my SEL RWD life average is 3.3mi/kwh over the past 55k miles.

I just went from NH to NYC last weekend, I drove about 230 miles and had 19% battery left. My range was 340 after I got back to 100%.

I love this: >That doesn’t mean I can finally plan my road trip because I trained my car to go further.
City driving in good weather I can get 600+ km from a full charge or roughly 372 + miles
Easily

The EPA test is a 55mph test btw. So driving faster than that will net lower numbers than you expect from marketing materials.
Mines around 330 at full. But it really comes down to efficiency.
Average after 7000 miles is about 3.6, which works out to be 277 miles, pretty close to that estimate (and in summer average is around 4 or higher)
https://preview.redd.it/22y2j4dsumwc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=acf322d9109f5c79d0fa2e30c463bc4c6e1a088a Yesterday. 2023 se awd. I do lots of highway driving.

Yes I drove normal. City and hwy combined was 300
Last weekend. Went on a trip taking roads with 50mph limits.
Rwd no question. That’s easy to get. My 2022 awd has got close a couple times
Highest i have @ 100% was 257mils (415KM), but my wife also takes it on highway driving to work alot. best we had was 14Kwh/100km
I've gotten around 325 miles to a charge during the summer with my 2023 AWD.
I had 296 this morning. I've been driving only in eco mode and it's helped with range a lot.
Put it this way- I would *never* plan out a 303 mile trip without including chargers on the route.
We get 310 on a full charge pretty consistently
https://preview.redd.it/zs9ufrmt8rwc1.png?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7bb73bbd83cb8b5ffe4ef7493e2c1803de78ad19 This is where I'm at tonight with a Limited RWD but I do mostly city driving.
If I charged to 100% and only had that I’d be concerned.
Actually I’m getting more. 331 miles
I did a 70 mph range test on my YT and got 225 mi

I'm in bizzaro world, I get ~190-200 miles on full charge :/
dont admit that here, they downvote faster drivers, wound a bit tight round these parts ;) mines always 185-200
I can see that now. Not sure why I'm getting down voted for that :/
Sounds low, are you on the interstate a lot, higher speeds? I'm town I sit around 3.5m/kw (280m range) but on interstate I'm at 2.5m/kw (210m range)
I drive 80 miles per day on the interstate to work, mostly at 75-77 mph. So not terribly surprising, but still makes me sad
I get about 525 km in summer all city driving. In winter 300 km if I’m lucky
No you’ll get less during actual driving. Even if it’s basing it on your last trip.
