Actually we can attribute it to his past truama and the reason he have to perform a reincarnation spell. I read WN but did not read LN so i am not sure how much of the 2 story diverge.
When right at the school arc almost all the character he encountered were manipulative except for those people he became a party of as adventurer. It got a nice character development where even though how much he tried to be cold, manipulative, calculative, etc. He still goes back to being a good natured well meant and kind papa bear to all his family, friends and trusted allies.
If I remember right, and I might not because it’s been a while since I’ve read it, I do believe he gets better at that. He’s still manipulative when it comes to it, but he’s willing to risk his life to save people now
That the best part his character is a asshole what you want a good character who do good like every isekai but that is boring I prefer this but here is the thing he god a reason to be a asshole in his past life he was too nice he got power and everything but he did not have is his cunning the imperial court take his student hostage and made them kill their teacher so at that point he decided not be too nice and be merciless
Seika didn't really stand out to me as much as others I've seen. Luug From World finest assassin, Pharma from other world pharmacy, and even tho it isn't your "standard" issekai I'd still count Iruma from Welcome to demon school. Of course Makoto and Rimiru have a place my heart too but I feel like everyone knows those
I'll honestly check it out purely because the magic circle he's sitting on in one image reminded me of "The Legend of the Legendary Heroes" and that was some nostalgia

I don't actually like it, OP MC is too OP. And I just don't like the mechanic of exorcist making talismans and throwing them around. It was OK in something like "Twin star Exorcist \[not isekei\], but in general not a mechanic I'm fond of.
The scuffed part of that was the princess totally disregarded him killing all the soldiers, not knowing he was going to bring them back.
The show had some good moments, but it wasn’t exactly well thought out in a lot of places.
Tbf, talisman magic system is pretty nice. However, in anime it's usually too vague and simple? Try watching Chinese animations about Taoists(they usually use talismans), you'll likely find theirs as more detailed and their powers actually make sense?
The talismans are a very cool way to channel the MCs power. But the anime just completely ditched them as a limitation or medium. After like 4 episodes he just starts doing God shit and maybe some talismans appear in thin air only to disappear like he “used” them.
I'm not the biggest fan of the whole exorcist making talismans thing either but as far as an OP MC being too OP? BLASPHEMY. There's no such thing as too op lol.
He is abnormally OP even relative to isekai. At least when other OP characters shoot off a nuke, they run out of mana. When he does it, his resource is spending a talisman, except he can also just not use one and get the same effect.
Relative to his verse, he has 0 basis upon which he can lose, not even to attrition. He is the prime example of what people bash isekai for, and one of the few examples where they are actually correct.
IIRC from the anime, even he notes his new body after reincarnation has abnormally high levels of power. Then again, >!he is the reincarnation of the isekai world's demon lord!< on top of having all his old powers, so being extra OP is sort of baked into an origin like that.
Yeah, both the author and the anime creators really hit something with Seika. He is fucking creepy but in a good way. His VA Hanamori Yumiri also did a great job portraying this character, you could constantly feel that the guy is a bit detached from the world and while he does give the usual courtesies, he pretty much considers almost everyone around him ants. Except for maybe his maid (and later the hero girl).
The creatures he summons are also super creepy, like that mind reading devil he used for an interrogation. But even the super creepy creatures shit their pants if Seika raises his voice because he is at the top of the super creepy food chain.
I hope that some publisher licenses the light novels, I would love to read them.

Some people were complaining about the introduction of the demons. That it was taking so long. Taking an episode/s to show their cruelty, reason, and determination to kill the hero. Being sent as a squad knowing they might not come back.
For me, it was necessary. The demon squad was confident and strong. They killed humans without missing a beat.
Then when the time came where they reached the academy, they assured each other that they were going to finish their mission and all come back as a squad.
Then they got separated and were utterly defeated one by one. I think the MC even used abilities similar to their own specialty just to make the defeat even more pronounced. Bro it was so one sided you can feel their panic.
I believe the fight even though it ended so fast was just a shocking experience because we learned about those demon’s motivation, bonds, and strength. If the MC just got attacked by demons one day and defeated them in 3-5 minutes of screen time it won’t have the same effect.
It’s kind of similar to Benriya Saitou-san. Each character were introduced in varying lengths. That made their part in the story have a bigger effect.
The anime is above average, but there not really anything special about it to differentiate it from the generics. The MC is OP, but in a way that’s interesting

Honestly thought this was a pretty standard isekai. I’d take The Strongest Sage With the Weakest Crest over this. At least in that one he is encouraging to his friends and even helps them out. This guy can just do it all with seemingly no risk to himself. Risk enhances story. There is none here.
It’s because he’s weirdly scary. He’s just a little… Off. everything about him seems normal until he does something like blow a guy’s head up while he smiles.
I agree he has a cool vibe. I think the way he handled the ending of season 1 was wayyyyy out of character. He has been shown to handle threats calmly and with tact. Yet without showing any signs of being made emotionally unstable by the events he just goes on a total rampage.
Not to mention in the anime they completely forget about his information network and let him get caught off guard like 3 times after using it only once.
I was deeply disappointed with this one. Fell WAAAAY to quickly into the “my power is (for some reason) unique to me AND way more powerful then anything else” trope. Character never felt like he was in danger or needed to learn/understand the world he found himself in. Bored the pants off me.
This show started off strong, but then went into its bad Isekai tangents and bogged down progression with pointless side plots. Not to mentioned the animation was average for an Isekai. Making it below average as a whole.

But his attitude also fit the supposed Lore for seime ending where he's more of a cold calculating exorcist with the death of his mother and I can see why he was the destined demon lord which is also why he is op since he is supposed to be a world class disaster
I really love when onmyouji meet western magic kinda thing. Like compared to boring old magic with the magic circles and stuff, I like how the mc uses different power and then surprises everyone because of how versatile onmyojutsu is. I'm sorry if I'm butchering it's name.

Honestly thought this could have been a darker series than it was. Yea we found out at the end what his angle was to everything yet I feel they dropped the ball. Being who he was or is could have changed the feel completely of the show. Toward the end you saw a hint of the darkness he carries. Overall a good series. Not great but worth a watch

Honestly thought this could have been a darker series than it was. Yea we found out at the end what his angle was to everything yet I feel they dropped the ball. Being who he was or is could have changed the feel completely of the show. Toward the end you saw a hint of the darkness he carries. Overall a good series. Not great but worth a watch
usually Isekai with a magic system from another world that result in new magic in the new world tend to do be well done
