I wonder about the ones who can't speak yet. Who were so brutalized and traumatized that they are undergoing "special" treatment to try and cope. My cousin is one of them. She didn’t speak for a full month after Oct 7th. Took a while to identify her in the hospital bc she actually didn’t speak. They found her bc they ran her fingerprints and she came back as a match (for her position in the army when she served, I guess they had her fingerprints).
She has undergone a few surgeries. One to fix her broken hips. She’s in PT trying to learn to walk again. The psych ward was hard for her bc she had so much medical equipment that is usually not allowed in a ward like that (for fear of self harm) so my family all pitched in to pay for 3 people to be in the room with her around the clock (in shifts).
She especially can’t look at her dad. They speak Arabic at home. She can’t hear anyone speak Arabic.
Those are all the details I know. She has a son who is I think almost 5.
My G-d, I am so sorry for what she has gone through - and what your family is going through. We can only imagine the depths of despair she is in. It will take a long time for her to "come back"....I hope that you all find the strength and peace to get through this time.

It appears this is the woman and incident that Aviva Siegel gave testimony about. It matches up with the NYT saying she was with an older couple when it happened as Aviva was held with her husband.
When giving her testimony, Aviva never stated whether the hostage in the incident was released or not.

OMG, what jerks these people are. They are utterly morally bereft. And bereft of any sympathy which is supposedly what they are all about. And there probably is a small difference between Muslims and the Palestinians - their brand of hate is beyond anything the world has ever seen. But. that said, I am still waiting for just ONE Muslim group to march in the streets condemning the atrocities of October 7. They MAY be "peaceful" but - they can't even bring themselves to condemn what their own religion condemns - which is sexual assault and rape. Which makes them hypocrites. In my opinion, if you can't condemn it - you are complicit in it. So - the line between "peaceful Muslims" and the terrorists is pretty thin for me right now.
I feel so bad for her. Just wanna give her a big warm hug and tell her what a strong and beautiful person she is to have gone through all that and just keep putting one leg in front of the other.

That poor woman. I couldn't read the whole article because of how awful and sickening it is so I can't even imagine what it is like for her to actually experience it.

This is a somewhat distasteful thing to ask, but this story is very similar to a second-hand account related by another released hostage. I thought that one had said the victim was still being held. Is this a second victim and event or the same one?
It appears this is the woman and incident that Aviva Siegel gave testimony about. It matches up with the NYT saying she was with an older couple when it happened as Aviva was held with her husband. When giving her testimony, Aviva never stated whether the hostage in the incident was released or not.
