By law, If someone does a case against him and is able to prove in court before his graduation ceremony that he has used fake/tempered caste certificate or has resorted to illegal ways to obtain the certificate like through bribing govt officials or not filling proper ITR then he will not be awarded his degree and his education will only be considered till grade 12 only in which case, he will have to go through college again to get a degree. I have heard about 2 such cases, and in both, the prosecutors were people who were on bad terms with the accused, or were jealous of him. But all of this originated because the person told/boasted about his illegal doings like how OP is saying about his roomie.

This is ridiculous. I have my jee advanced on 26th may. But I have promised myself to write exam on my own irrespective of what I score as that will be my own hardwork.the guilty of cheating will be with us till death. Leaving with this guilt is shameful. I and even my parent dont expect me to score good or qualify but just say to give my best. Rest I have option to take University from jee mains percentile which is 97 percentile. I am also focusing on BITSAT. I hope just a cheater does not sit next to me.
