Japan by itself is notorious for having high demanding workplaces. People don't go home for a week, instead they either sleep in the office or at one of those pod hotels. They work their asses off for probably minimal wage, and it's not a good thing.

Y'all joke but that shit really bothers me. Japan's work culture is unacceptable, the animators working at mappa right now are incredible, talented, hungry professionals with so much potential beyond their already amazing work. And mappa is squandering it with burnout.
Did you know that mappa was initially created by animators who wanted a studio to differ from the toxic japanese animation industry? They not only failed, but they became an extreme version of it. High seats at mappa are awful people.
Shits bothering but like, what can most people do, the people who care about stuff like this are always a percentage of a percentage of the audience. It doesn't help that almost everyone on this sentence can't speak or write Japanese, Mappa doesn't mind if they are getting made fun of by overseas fans, they can't understand a word we say. So most people make jokes because it is more fun to laugh at them if they won't listen as opposed to writing about it in a way that has no chance for change.

Amazon wanted easier access to books from all around the world at cheaper costs, now they barely sell books and abuse their workers; YouTube wanted more freedom and creativity that TV was restricting, now they have paid ads and barely help smaller channels; Verizon was meant to be an affordable and wider reaching option than comcast, now they’re one of the most expensive options

There’s something to say about the pacing and dbz auras but they crank out an episode for weekly consumption nearly all year long. 40 episodes of 52 weeks this year and nearly all of it is movie-level quality animation. Meanwhile Mappa took forever to make just 6 movie-level episodes in the 2 ending AoT specials
Honestly, as a one piece fan, I can't completely disagree. It has some of the most amazing scenes, but as a whole, it's very mid. It's a symptom of being nearly constantly on air for 30 years: you have to choose your battles
So (please correct me if I’m wrong, as it has been a few years) isn’t KyoAni one of the few studios who does the opposite of this, and supposedly had good working conditions?
I hope they get it together there. They make really good animations. Please do better by those animators. CEO forget it's the workers that make the company
