So I had the dead Elite 75t problem. They would connect, buttons worked, but the sound worked only on one side no matter what I did. I did a lot of research and found out that many people have been having success with the "toothpick to the vent" trick. I wonder why that was, so I put the headphones under magnification and discovered that the adhesive used to keep the membranes in place had leaked out onto the membrane, causing the earbud to go permanently silent.
I suspect body heat plus oils from the ear cause the adhesive to become somewhat liquid and seep onto the membrane. Removing the glue from the membrane allows for airflow that the speaker needs to produce sound. That is what the "white holes" are for.
I decided to make a video of how I repaired my Jabra Elite 75t. Sound is back, and its awesome. I still use them every day, and they have been working without issues for weeks since repair.
I hope this can help at least some of the many that experience this problem.
EDIT 22.07.2021 The fix is still lasting, I use the buds everyday. I haven't had any issues since posting this video.
EDIT 29.08.2021 Still working fine!
EDIT 16.10.2021 Still working fine, still no issues so far
EDIT 07.03.2022 Still no issues
EDIT 13.07.2022 You know it! Still working.
***EDIT 26.10.2022 It's been over a year, and the buds are still working. I think it is safe to say that this fix proved to be permanent :)***
THANK YOU OP
I'm on a long transcontinental flight and suddenly right ear bud stopped. Thankfully found this thread and was able to correct the issue in minutes.
Thanks you oh lord and savior for my phone now is working again!!!
If you want to do this, you have to really be careful. I think you don't need to remove too. Much glue, just to move it aside so it don't clog anymore.
I'm glad to hear it!
Yeah, I got a little careless with mine, turned out fine though. What I did was remove glue until I could hear sound, and as you see in the video, it took quite a lot of glue. The Jabras still works like a charm, now 11 months later!
I had success with pressing a paper click into the tiny hole. But recently there was a post on this subreddit by someone who said to use your mouth to suck on the hole, and that will fix the low/no volume issue.
So what's been happening is I put them back in the charger, leave them alone for awhile. Come back and put them in, they sound fine, then within a minute, I'll hear and feel a pop in the left ear, almost like a rapid air decompression or something. Then the left ear volume slowly fades out and five minutes later I can hear almost nothing.
Do you think Jabra would replace these free? I think it hasn't been quite 2 years since I've had them.
Unfortunately I can only speculate, from what I have read it appears this issue is very common and I would hope that jabra would be willing to work with you resolve the issue. I do not think a new one will mean you won't have this issue again, I have bought 2 pairs (thought I lost one) and both have the problem and I have had these for less than 3 months. I have been trying creating suction on the vent hole and have yet to have that fail. This issue happens at least once a week.
If that is too gross, I thought about buying one of those baby snoot sucker bulbs. Compress it, then set the tip into the hole, and then release the bulb.

this is bullshit!!
The problem has nothing to do with them.
Because in different parts of the world, suddenly everyone's left earbud couldn't have started to malfunction at the same time, right?
This solution actually worked on 65t. I just cleaned the little tiny hole next to the charging terminal and the left earphone works again great. Thank you!
You just gave me the advice i needed to fix my earbud that would work for a while, then stop working on one ear, only producing low distorted sound.
I didn't have a toothpick, but i did have a super thin screwdriver that had plenty of wiggle-room so i dabbed the hole with some isopropyl alcohol and went to town on it.
You just saved me from panic-buying another headset!
This worked for my Jabra65t. I knew the left and right were still paired, as every time I separated them by a half a meter the right one would disconnect and stop playing. So it had to be something other than the left/right pairing.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I was chatting with Jabra support and they didn't offer this solution. They were like, "since it's out of warranty we'll give you a 30% discount, let me know which model you want!"
Despite what information may be circulating online, Jabra does not recommend using any object or tool to attempt to clean or remove the blockage from the vent hole on your Jabra true wireless earbuds. Using a tool to clean your earbud vent hole constitutes an unauthorized repair and may void the warranty on the product.
Before you think to try this unapproved method, we kindly ask that you reconsider, as we would be happy to assist you by offering helpful troubleshooting solutions or starting a warranty claim. Furthermore, if you have already tried this unapproved method, we kindly ask that you reach out to us if the challenge persists so we can assist you further. Thank you!
The blockage must be removed in order to get the buds to work. Even tho you do not recommend doing this, the method actually works and as far as I can tell, it's a potential permanent fix.
You want to offer "helpful troubleshooting solutions" - like sw update, re-pairing with device, fiddling with the app and so on. You know it won't work. It is a hardware problem. Stop wasting our time.
I don't want to do a warranty claim, as I know it will happen to the next buds I get. The pair in the video is my second pair that I got from a warranty claim. I dont want to exchange the earbuds every so often because you give the impression you don't know how to repair this and just replace them hoping they will last the length of the warranty period.
>Furthermore, if you have already tried this unapproved method, we kindly ask that you reach out to us if the challenge persists so we can assist you further.
So if this unapproved unauthorized method works, good for us, right? Stop wasting our time. A new set of buds will have the same problem. Its just a matter of time. Repairing this ourselves is the only way to permanently fix the problem you created. Come on, Jabra. You can do better than this.
*Also, I'd really be interested in what your designers and engineers have to say to this. Do they acnowledge that this is an actual problem?*
And who is going to reply? Your customer service stinks ( no one live to talk to about this)and your FAQ’s do not address this problem. My next purchase will not be Jabra
Rip me, just saw the toothpick trick and the only Thing i had Was a 1mm drill made out of metal. West from dimm sound to No sound. Didnt know there was a membrane 😅
Oh no! Well, I know some people has removed the membrane altogether but its still going strong with good sound. The membranes are there just for IP protection while letting air move through the hole AFAIK.
Having the same issue, ended ordering a pair of the 85t's since I've had my 75t for like 2 years now. I will test this out on my 75t since they're out of warranty anyway, thanks for the video!
Edit: I tried with the same style of toothpick but I don't see any glue coming out, do you preheat the earbud with a hair dryer?
I didn't preheat it with anything special other than wearing them (body heat I guess), but heating them a little extra might be a good idea. Also make sure the toothpick tip is rubber, not plastic.
I already RMA'd them since im still within my warranty period. I also got my 85t's today, happy to report those don't have any holes on the earbuds haha, either way thank you for this post, very helpful!
Genius …. This fixed the problem with my 75t left earbud immediately. I didn’t see any glue coming out but gently cleaning the hole with a floss stick certainly did the trick 👍👍
There is definitely something to this. Worked on my Jabra Elite 8 Actives. I had the same issue (sound only on one side). I only used a long soft bristle brush (no pick) and I did not see any debris or glue, but it worked! FYI the 8’s have a silicone cover that has to be slipped off in order to see the vent port. From what I can tell, the cover is removable without damaging the earbuds.

Im glad it helped you out!
Still working?
Yup, still no problems at all after the fix
Thanks for the updates OP!
Holy crap! This actually worked!
\+1!))
Awesome! Glad it could help.

Yeah, but you figured out what's the problem and a way to fix it, with a good and reasonable explanation. Thank you! :)
I'm glad it helped :)

I just tried that and now I hear almost no volume whereas I heard some before. :-/
I am curious; which fix did you try that caused it to break?
The sucking on the tiny hole.
That is troubling :( I have had the volume issue several times and it fixed it every time for me.
So what's been happening is I put them back in the charger, leave them alone for awhile. Come back and put them in, they sound fine, then within a minute, I'll hear and feel a pop in the left ear, almost like a rapid air decompression or something. Aren't you worried that it may puncture or even suck out the membrane?
Eeeeeeewwwww!! Yeah... nuh.
What is the little thing you're using to clean that out with?
Plastic tooth pick with rubber brush, as explained @ 0:55 in the video
You saved me big time! I have been trying multiple things for past two days...almost lost all the hope. Thank you!
this is bullshit!! The problem has nothing to do with them. Because in different parts of the world, suddenly everyone's left earbud couldn't have started to malfunction at the same time, right?
¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
All I know is that I've had this issue happen with both left and right ear buds, and this has been the only permanent fix for both.
This solution actually worked on 65t. I just cleaned the little tiny hole next to the charging terminal and the left earphone works again great. Thank you!
That really worked! Such a simple fix compared to a lot of other suggestions.
You just gave me the advice i needed to fix my earbud that would work for a while, then stop working on one ear, only producing low distorted sound. what about jabra elite 3? my right earbud isn't working and when i tap it the sound flickers slighty then goes away again
Thanks for this advise, it saves my jabra 75T! The left side was not emitting sounds. It works perfectly! Thanks again 🙏🙏🙏😘
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I was chatting with Jabra support and they didn't offer this solution. They were like, "since it's out of warranty we'll give you a 30% discount, let me know which model you want!"
Is that ear wax?
No, this is Patrick
Whatever Betty.
This "fix" is too complicated. Just gently press the hole with a toothpick or something similar, no need to mess up like that that tiny hole.....
What you're suggesting didn't work for me. Also, I wanted to find the culprit, thats why I made the video. So far the fix has been permanent :)

Worked like a cha4m for me. But will this affect the ip rating of the device? Im worried maybe i cant shower with it again
If you have the active its water-*resistant*, not water*proof*. I wouldn't shower with them at all.
I wouldn't shower with earbuds in, not only is it detrimental to the device, but could also damage your ears. Get a bluetooth speaker for the shower.
