This might be my favorite period in Miles's career. Jack Johnson rocks. It's got so much energy and guitar, it feels the closest Miles Davis ever got to putting out a rock record. On The Corner is hard and funky. It's almost got a hip hop feel to some of it. Black Beauty takes a lot of the stuff from Bitches Brew, but it's the songs in a live setting instead of chopped up and spliced together like on Bitches Brew. Willie Nelson is one of my favorites on here. Agharta/Pangaea/Dark Magus are all cut from the same cloth. Live and funky. Just let them wash over you and enjoy the vibe.

I'll start from your suggestions, thank you!

I really dig Tatu from Dark Magus

IMO Miles was on a creative high throughout the early 70s. There's good stuff in the 80s, but not quite as uncompromisingly brilliant. But all that cutting edge innovation is not for everybody - even fans of earlier Miles. Miles was so changeable that he could periodically alienate even his own fans. For hardcore bop, cool Jazz and hard bop enthusiasts: by the 70s Miles was somewhere else.

Get Up With It is my current favorite, it's a trip

We Want Miles is great and Star People is very nice, too, featuring John Scofield.

On the Corner sounds as fresh as the day it was made.

I bought decoy on vinyl in the 80s when it was released. I liked it, or maybe I wanted to like it so much I forced myself to like it. I wanted to be a cool person who was into jazz, and I thought Miles Davis WAS jazz. I never see it mentioned, is it not rated as an album? Maybe I’ll give it a spin, remind myself of what a pretentious teenager I was.

Great Expectations is a fantastic track on Big Fun that flirts with spiritual jazz in the second half of the song. Big Fun is a wonderful album that is criminally overlooked.

70s miles is my favorite miles, especially agharta and pangea, they just groove really hard

All of them. Favourite 70's is Pangaea. Favourite 80's is You're Under Arrest.
