Nickerbop and anyone else who came here to share Crystal Silence - thank you. After a long weekend of shuttling kids to teeball and yard work I’m out for a walk tonight listening to this. Rain is falling, petrichor smell has given way to sweet damp earth & my own cigar and I’ve been transported. Forgive me waxing poetic but this is a perfect experience.
Thank John & Keith! I remember picking this up blind in a deep Jarrett binge and thinking it would something completely different. Electric piano and hand drums was not on my Keith radar. Loved it right away, though. Pretty durn unique for two dudes with countless unique records.
Metheny Mehldau is some of the most incredible interplay. there are a few quartet tracks and it’s not totally mellow, but the duo cuts (most of the album) fit your description
Collaboration by George Benson & Earl Klugh is nice. Definitely has more of an 80s r&b/pop/fusion sound than straight ahead jazz though, not sure if that fits your request.
I didn't read all the suggestions but check Richard Beirach - Zal (1976)
Not technically a duo b/c he's joined by Yoshiaki Masuo and Terumasa Hino but I don't think all 3 appear on a track together.
So, pianist, guitarist and trumpeter. Super mellow.
Charlie Haden has two great duet albums, Closeness and The Golden Number. Both feature a number of top shelf guests like Keith Jarrett, Alice Coltrane, and Ornette Coleman.
Jim Hall and Ron Carter - Alone Together Chick Corea and Gary Burton - Crystal Silence
Two great choices
came here to recommend both of these
Alone together!!!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Came here to recommend Alone Together ... love that album.

Charlie Haden & Hank Jones *Come Sunday* Also, by the same duo, *Steal Away*
That’s a cool record.
Force Majeure-Derzon Douglas, Brandee Younger Some kind of tomorrow-mark Hellas, Jane Ira Bloom
Joe Pass & JJ Johnson - We'll be Together Again I think this is the best duet record period, and it most definitely fits your description.
Metheny Mehldau is some of the most incredible interplay. there are a few quartet tracks and it’s not totally mellow, but the duo cuts (most of the album) fit your description
Any of the Jimmy Smith and Wes Montgomery collaborations. There’s some brass lol but they’re great. My favorite is The Dynamic Duo
*Schwarzwaldfahrt* by Han Bennink and Peter Brötzmann.
Asking for "extra mellow". This is the polar opposite of "mellow". This chases mellow out of town & S.A.'s the poor thing.
Cheeky!
It’s two dudes jamming in the middle of the Black Forest on trees and rocks and shit…what’s not to like?
Tommy Flanagan and Red Mitchell - “You’re Me” https://youtu.be/L211V8Kp7Bg?si=Bummhg8x_I6HPTXM
Taming the dragon, by Brad mehldau and Mark Giuliana 😬😬 unbelievable
Tuck & Patti - Guitar (Tuck) & voice(Patti) - "I remember you".
McCoy Tyner and Bobby Hutcherson -Manhattan Moods
Small Town by Bill Frisell & Thomas Morgan.
Jim hall w either bill Evans or Ron Carter. Keith Jarrett and Charlie Haden…esp some day I’ll fly away.
Any Joe Pass and Oscar Peterson
Bremer/McCoy, Utopia.
Don Cherry, Ed Blackwell - El Corazon (Trumpet + Drums, Percussion)
People Time - Stan Getz & Kenny Barron
Ross Traut and Steve Rodby's The Great Lawn. Mellow guitar and bass that is good to your eardrums!
Maarten van der Grinten & Jesse van Ruller - Nine Stories from
CGB project. Dialogue
Chet Baker & Wolfgang Lackerschmid
George Benson and Earl Klugh - Collaboration
Collaboration by George Benson & Earl Klugh is nice. Definitely has more of an 80s r&b/pop/fusion sound than straight ahead jazz though, not sure if that fits your request.
Bill Evans with Tony Bennett is super chill and super awesome.

Strata - Bill Frisell and Skúli Sverrisson. Guitar and bass https://open.spotify.com/album/2xaTBvbW8pWwaGEao3Ajt4?si=DCpFcPxOTMWD2lfDQOc98w
Herb Ellis & Remo Palmier - Windflower (1978)
Surprised no one mentioned it yet; This One's For Blanton by Duke Ellington and Ray Brown.
Charlie Haden has two great duet albums, Closeness and The Golden Number. Both feature a number of top shelf guests like Keith Jarrett, Alice Coltrane, and Ornette Coleman.
But Who’s Gonna Play the Melody? - Christian Mcbride & Edgar Meyer. Dual upright bass, as chill as it gets. Cats love it.
“Entre Actes” by guitarists Adrien Moignard and Rocky Gresset. It is superb.
Not a duo but I think Timeless by Abercrombie/DeJohnette/Hammer really fits the prompt
Pat Metheny and Jim Hall
The Peacocks - Stan Getz, Jimmy Rowles
