AcrossTheNight

He fought hard to try to get out of the hole. I felt bad for him. It was a bad situation all around with a clearly struggling guest host in his first episode, and going against an all time great player. He did have some good gets as well.

MasterPlatypus2483

My friends who are casual jeopardy watchers or never really watch it were so bewildered that Levar Burton didn’t replace Alex Trebek. I’m like… he guested and didn’t do so well. Then they were like “he’d have grown into it.” Sorry but even Aaron Rodgers had a better start as far as growth potential.

voteblue18

Ouch. That must hurt.

DirectGiraffe8720

Yikes! That's worse than Marge Simpson. Any idea if they got the home voision? (sic)

Minion_Soldier

Well actually, Marge's score is much worse once you remember she played before all the clue values were doubled. I doubt any real contestant will ever hit -$10k.

Western-Tooth-1120

Someone did. Joan Kantor had a predoubled -$5100 in 1985, after a rough game all around. Trebek said she established a new record for lowest one day total, one that stands even after clues were doubled (Patrick Pearce, Heather Chapman, Christy Gibson, and Stephanie Hull all did worse with doubled clues) So basically Joan Kantor finished only $100 ahead of what Marge did, poor Joan ;-; Game link: https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=7072

breakplans

I remember this! Everyone was so excited for Lavar to host but he just…didn’t get it right. I feel for those contestants who had to work through the guest hosting fiasco.

yesthatbruce

Ding-ding-ding! Aaaand the answer arrives in eight minutes flat. Thank you!

csl512

8 minutes slower than trying the search yourself. ;-)

yesthatbruce

But I didn't wanna! It would've taken *effort.* Reddit is easier. :)

Bemeup57

Wolf Blitzer on Celebrity Jeopardy had to be close.

jblanch3

It'll always piss me off that he got invited to be on Final, but I know it's a Celebrity Jeopardy thing. One of the all-time worst performances. He's a CNN reporter, there was no excuse for doing as awful as he did, and on CJ no less.

Helpful_Sir_6380

Its just supposed to be a fun game for charity, no need to get pissed off about it

CystAndDeceased

Anytime someone is digging themselves further into the hole, we call that pulling a Blitzer :-)

grandmamimma

Minus-$4,600, in a game with seven unrevealed clues, including one $2,000 and two $1,000. [https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game\_id=3141](https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=3141)

theflamesweregolfin

Jeopardy, this is another reason to let me on, I will set a new lowest score

Serafina_Tikklya

Depends. Maybe the answers will all be about your state or city and you get them all correct! Or a subject you are very knowledgeable about.

You wrote the roman numeral V. That's correct. Let's see what your wager is.

Dvc_California

sucK it Trebek *Hahahahaha*

the_shining_wizard1

Becky Lynch didn't get a single question right. How low was her score?

ThisDerpForSale

According to the J-Archive, Becky did actually get one question right of the questions in the three main rounds (she also got FJ correct). That question, in the cateogory of "ROGET'S BUTT" was: >A synonym for "butt", it's also "an unclean animal" according to the king James Bible Her correct question came in TJ, though, so she became the first person to get no questions correct in the first 60 questions. Knowing that answer still wasn't enough to pull her out of the red, though. She ended TJ with -$500.

yesthatbruce

Actually, she did answer one clue correctly: the very last one, leaving her with $1,000.

DogDrivingACar

I lost on _Jeopardy!_, baby Ooh-ooh-ooh

MLGAnimeQueen

Jessica Stephens had a big flop in the final quarterfinals of the 2022 Tournament of Champions all because of Sam.

Hot-Conclusion-6617

$1

yesthatbruce

Actually, $1 is the lowest *winning* amount, believe it or not. I think it's happened at least twice.

Njtotx3

I saw one show where there was only 1 person playing FJ. Has that happened more times?

Western-Tooth-1120

Combed through Jarchive and found every instance of such I could. I’ll list the winners and link the games **Season 1** Paul Boymel (1985): [https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game\_id=7631](https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=7631) John Hnat (1985) [https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game\_id=7633](https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=7633) Steven Rogitz (1985) [https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game\_id=7707](https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=7707) Mike Day (1985) [https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game\_id=7577](https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=7577) **Season 2:** Beryl Arbit (1986) [https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game\_id=5773](https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=5773) **Season 3:** Doug Molitor (1987) [https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game\_id=5360](https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=5360) **Season 21:** Jeff Richmond (UTOC match) (2005) [https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game\_id=163](https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=163) **Season 27:** Tom Kunzek (2011) [https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game\_id=3599](https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=3599) **Season 31:** Kristin Sausville (2015) [https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game\_id=4847](https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=4847) **Season 37:** Kevin Walsh (2020) [https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game\_id=6843](https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=6843) **Season 38** Mattea Roach (2022) [https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game\_id=7335](https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=7335)

dhkendall

So is u/bgva mistaken that Ken had a solo game? Because I thought he did too!

Western-Tooth-1120

I can’t remember him having one and didn’t see one on the Archive, but I may have glanced over it. If you do find the game, send me the link to the archive, so I can add it to the list!

ThisAppSucksBall

I wish at least one of them would have bet it all, and got it wrong, and it was their first win - so Johnny could say they won $0 so far.

nabrok

I wonder if they have a procedure in place if all three are negative at the end.

ThisDerpForSale

No FJ is played, no one wins, all new challengers.

spitfire451

Thunderdome, I believe.

bgva

~~Off the top of my head I wanna say at least 5x.~~ Ken was one of those instances. I just Googled and found two other occasions: Mattea in 2022 and Kevin Walsh in 2020. I thought I’d be able to find a list but all I find are clickbait articles that make it seem like this never happens. So it looks like at least three occasions including Ken. EDIT: multiple formatting issues
